Altador’s Guardians' Favorite Astronomical Items

Because of this, each character has a special affinity for astronomical items, and they have all picked their favorites. A deeper look at each item will reveal a little bit extra about their personality, and further reveals the complexities of each of them.

The Darkest Faerie

Item: Nebularis

Known originally as The Sleeper, the Darkest Faerie has lost that titled and is now most notably known as The Betrayer. She was originally part of the 12 heroes mentioned here who founded the city of Altador, but her ego and control issues took place and she tried to take over the city all by herself. Due to her evil tendencies, she has chosen that Nebularis as one of her favorite items. This is a petpet resembling something like a black hole with eyes that exists in cold, dark places, places similar to the heart of the Darkest Faerie.

Psellia

Item: Contacts of the Cosmos

Psellie, known as The Dreamer, spends most of her time in the clouds of Faerieland. She is known for her signature starry-eyes, symbolizing herself as one who dreams of an optimistic and peaceful future. She has chosen these contacts because they most resemble her natural eyes. Though this is her favorite astronomical item, her favorite item out of any is the Harris petpet. This is the petpet that she sends down to Neopia to deliver messages she may have for people, as she doesn't like to leave the safety of the sky.

Siyana

Item: Space Faerie Sun Wand

Siyana is a Light Faerie, known under the title of The First To Rise. She blessed the mortal heroes with great longevity to ensure a long, strong rule over the land. For her, the element of light is the most important, and there is no greater source of light than the sun. Altador is also strongly represented by the sun, hence why she chose the Space Faerie Sun Wand as her item of choice. The Space Faerie has always played a role in astronomy and how the galaxy works, and without her arrangements we would be unable to predict the outcome of events on our planet.

Florin

Item: Slice of Space Cake

Florin is a unique character of our list so far, he is known as The Farmer and is a humble Yellow Kacheek who oversees all the farms of Altador. He works tirelessly day after day to ensure everyone has an adequate supply of food, and sacrificed his own crops to save the town from a potential food crisis. He has a good heart and enjoys his very simple life. He was able to trudge deep into the woods to find a cure for the blight that was killing off the crops of other farmers. Because of his simple life, he doesn't know too much about astronomy, he is in bed by sunset every day and up at sunrise to tend of his farm, so he doesn't really see the stars often. He does enjoy a nice treat at the end of his days though, a nice slice of cake that displays the theme of space.

Sasha

Item: Space Exploration Background

Sasha actually has her own constellation in the stars, which is why her item of choice is a Space Exploration Background. She is known as The Dancer and her legendary status was earned during a great storm that struck during a festival in Sasha's hometown. During the storm she told tales that kept the children calm and helped ease the minds of the adults, helping to stop a full blown panic. When the storm had passed, the town had been destroyed along with the spirit of the community. Sasha stepped up and began to dance, she danced and dance until the whole town had noticed and joined in. Her positive spirit spread like wildfire and helped inspire the town to rebuild.

Marak

Item: Starry Night Wings

Marak rules the waves off the coast of Altador by the docks, earning his title of The Wave. He has some dreams of soaring through space the way he soars through the waves, so he chose these wings as his favorite items. He is a natural born leader and leads over a clan of Peophins and has worked very hard to protect them from wrong-doers. He used his leadership over the clan to create massive waves to stop fishermen that were attempting to destroy his village, earning his title as a hero.

Torakor

Item: Auto Targeting Telescope

One of the fiercest legends, Torakor The Gladiator, is known for his prowess in war. His choice of an Auto Targeting Telescope ensures victory against opponents no matter how far away they are...he will see them coming. He worked under a fierce and strong army commander, one who had grown too powerful for his own good and who was obsessed with conquering territories for his own selfish gain. When they tried to take a small village, the village sent a scared and shaking Shoyru as their only warrior. Torakor had realized in this moment that the poor Shoyru was just trying to protect his crops but would lose instantly. Torakor committed mutiny and decided to fight for the Shoyru. He toppled the opposing leader and made a commitment to only fight for the well-being of others.

Gordos

Item: The Sleeper Constellation Stamp

Gordos is known as The Collector due to his history of collecting taxes for the governor. He collected large taxes from the citizens thinking that the governor would use them to help the land prosper. As time went on he saw the city falling into ruin while the governor was stocking his home with gold plates and lavish decorations. Gordos, who interacted with the cityfolk every day and saw how they struggled, exposed the governor for his wrong doings. He now works under an honest leader, and finds time for his hobbies, another type of collecting: collecting album items. For this, he chose The Sleeper Constellation Stamp, one of the first he put in his album.

Fauna

Item: Roast Gargapple

Fauna The Gatherer tended to a nice apple farm, and her kindness knew no bounds. She was always sharing her delicious apples with the townsfolk and had a troop of Petpets that followed behind her. One day, the Petpets disappeared and she heard they had scurried due to a storm to the outskirts of town, where many predators hid out. To rescue the Petpets from the monsters, she brought her delicious apples to them and won over the hearts of this scary creatures. Her patience and kindness earned her legendary status, and she chose the Roast Gargapple as it is the apple of the stars, and reminds her of her own beginnings.

Kelland

Item: Wand Of The Space Faerie

It takes a thief to catch a thief, as the story goes, and that is how Kelland The Thief has turned his life around and become an essential fixture in Altador's history. He uses his thieving skills to steal back items stolen by criminals and returning them to their rightful owner. He believes the Wand Of The Space Faerie could help his quest, because many would love to steal that, and with this he could bait the bad guys into falling right into his hands.

Jerdana

Item: Constellation Markings

A benevolent sorceress, Jerdana has an astounding control over the powers of light, and earned her title as The Protector by shielding the city from harm. She's able to create shields of light to deflect evil. She has her own constellation in the skies over Altador, as do the other heroes, but having her own arrangement of stars has inspired her to explore space on her own. She loves the Constellation Markings because she can make her own arrangements in front of her during the day, while taking time at night to gaze at what already exists.

King Altador

Item: Star Gazing Background

King Altador, known as The Hunter, had always dreamed of a land run by just and fair leaders. When he could not find one, he decided to gather a group of trustworthy people to create their own society, and thus the place we know as Altador was born. Because of Altador's strong ties to the stars and constellations, his favorite item is the Star Gazing Background. It inspires Neopians everywhere to take an extra glance up at night and to consider what goes on just out of their reach, to dream of what could be. King Altador was led by his own dream, to an idea that seemed out of reach, a place run by kind and compassionate people. He was able to achieve this dream with the help of his friends, and he wants all Neopians to know that it is possible to reach greatness if you are guided by compassion.
