Smells Like Team Spirit by aleu1986
--------
The Altador Cup is one of several yearly events that occur in Neopia, and one of the biggest and most popular ones. Sports fans unite in the game of Yooyuball and put in their best efforts to support their team and earn them a spot in the top three ranking teams. But Yooyuball aside, how can you show your dedication to a specific team in the various areas of the site? Read on to find out.
The Neoboards. The Site Events board is where the Altador Cup-related threads go, and this is where you`ll find the topics related to each specific team that is participating this year. Go cheer on your team and discuss the best tactics with fellow players. However, remember to also show good sportsmanship by never putting down other teams or complaining that your team doesn`t get enough support. Be positive and encouraging, perhaps visit threads of competing teams and wish the players there good luck. To show your love for your chosen team, you can change the colours of your font and siggy to match the signature colours of your team, such as brown and green for Kiko Lake fans. There are also special team icon smileys that you can use. Perhaps there`s a team slogan you can put in your siggy? Discuss with fellow players to come up with a clever line that can represent your team and its strengths. A suggestion for Brightvale fans could be "Brains over brawn." I`m sure you all can come up with something more clever for your respective teams. Each Neopian land has several avatars that is in some way connected to it, whether it be featuring famous characters like Bonju from Shenkuu, or Neopets of a certain colour, such as Pirate. You should have little trouble finding a suitable avatar to represent your team if you don`t feel like going for an AC-specific one.
Your Userlookup. If you`re looking for a simple, but eye-catching change to your personal userlookup, the shopkeeper is a fun way to show which AC team is your favourite. (You can also choose a different one for your gallery if you have one). Is Virtupets your team of choice? Why not go for a Robot Neopet shopkeeper. Or if Krawk Island is where your heart lies, there`s a wide selection of Pirate shopkeepers, including a pirate Chokato! There are tons of shopkeepers of all kinds to choose from, so have fun browsing and get creative in your choice of picking a representative for your team.
The official fansite Sunnyneo has an extensive selection of graphics available for each of the AC teams. Grab a button or a custom shield for a subtle change to your lookup during the cup, or go all out and change your userlookup, petlookups and even your petpages to show Neopia which team you`re rooting for. Your fellow Neopets users may also offer custom graphics such as buttons and banners, just ask around on the boards if you`re looking for more fresh content with which to express your team spirit.
Your Neopets Customizing is a beloved feature on the site, and a fun hobby for many users. Many people enjoy dressing up their Neopets to match the season or holiday, or to celebrate a special event. The Altador Cup is a large event that many look forward to, and you`ll often come across Neopets dressed from head to tail in various team gear.
The NC Mall especially offers a range of team equipment one can use, and there are also NP alternatives available, such as wearable prizes from previous cups, and team frames. Many choose to dress their pets up in official AC team clothes, and that`s fine! But if you want to be more creative, you can for example use your teams signature colours (or even paint brush colour if funds allow) to show your support. Painting your Neopet Island to support Mystery Island during the AC may sound a little extreme for some, but if you`re a rich Neopian with NP to burn on painting and repainting, then go for it. But you don`t need any official AC team gear to make your Neopet look great. You can create a customization that represents the team land, such as a steampunk look with a volcano lair background for Moltara. Or make it colour coordinated, dress your pet up in green and purple tones to represent Faerieland for example. (I also just realized these are Jhudoras signature colours! Gasp). Are you a Meridell fan? Make your pet look like a brave knight, or a witty jester. You can even do a cosplay with your pets and dress them up as famous Neopian characters that hail from the land whose team you`re supporting.
Go Exploring. Visit the world that your favourite team represents and take in their attractions, from the cave paintings in Tyrannia to the underwater fishing in Maraqua. Use some Neocola tokens on the vending machine at Kreludor and do a quest for Taelia on Terror Mountain. Each Neopian land has something that makes it special and unique – and that exact thing may be the reason that world is your favourite. Read up on famous characters from the land in question, like King Roo or Lord Kass. You might learn something new about your favourite land. Need a break from all that Yooyuball, or are you tired of Slushie Slinger? For variation, go play some games that originate from your teams land, such as Carnival of Terror in the Haunted Woods. Browse the local shops and bring home some souvenirs to your pets that are always complaining about how all the other Neopets have more toys than them. At the end of the day, it doesn`t matter which team you support, the most important thing about the Altador Cup is not that your favourite team wins, but that you enjoy participating. Show off your team spirit and your support in fun, creative ways and enjoy the cup as long as it lasts.
