Six Easy Neopoint Halloween Costumes

by jellikescherrypie

--------

As September nears its end, October follows quickly behind and we all know what that means… Halloween is soon to arrive! Neopians everywhere ready to ring in the season by swapping out their summertime customization for quirky costumes. A plethora of autumn inspired items can be spotted at the NC Mall, but you can stash your NeoCash away, save it for the Day of Giving (which is sneaking up fast!), and treat your Neopets to a Neopoint-based costume. Sounds insane you say? Well don’t count your Petri eggs before they hatch! Follow along as I reveal six Neopoint inspired Halloween costumes that will guarantee your pets a plethora of candy.

          1) Illusen

This earth faerie is one of Neopia’s favorite—and not to mention a popular costume each year—in fact, my little Kacheek adores Illusen so much, that she insists on being the faerie yearly! How do we do it? It’s simple! We start with a good base, the Nature Kacheek Dress features a leafy texture that is ideal for any earth faerie vibes. Don’t have one on hand? No problem! Any green dress should be ideal. Follow up the dress with some of Illusen’s signature items: Illusens Laced Slippers and the Illusen Wig. Makeup allows a customization to look whole (not to mention, it adds a little sparkle too!) Using some Jungle Foliage Face Paint, spread the green paint around the eyes and outwards and top it off with some Light Faerie Eye Shadow; the yellow will help complement the dress. Finally, the Earth Faerie Wings match the dress perfectly and instantly completes the look!

          2) Sock Hop Waitress

Ah, retro music really takes me back. Nothing is more classic than a Sock Hop Waitress, and the costume is easy-peasy! We’ll center the outfit around a Slushie Slinger Waitress Wig; this beehive style updo really encompasses the vintage look we’re going for. The Retro Poogle Skirt is ideal for this look, but any poofy skirt you have on hand is swell; just be sure the skirt is a bright color like pink or purple! Can’t put style over comfort, that’s why I decided to pair some Poogle Ballet Shoes with this look. Not only will they be comfy to walk in while trick or treating in Neopia, but the color matches the skirt too! For the next step, add a Basic White Shirt and tuck it in under the skirt. I chose this shirt because the collar is exactly like ones found on vintage shirts from that era and—let’s be honest—this shirt is dirt cheap, you can find it in the General Shop or at the marketplace for under 500np…score! Now we gotta top the look off with a scarf; find one that is small but can be tied in a bow. I decided to use a Retro Poogle Scarf as it fits around my Neopet's neck perfectly; however, if this seems a little tight or snug on your pet, you can always opt for a Big Bow Scarf. Top the look off with Fyoras Eyeshadow and add a Neopian Serving Cart for effect. Ta-da! Your Neopet is ready to twist and shout… and score some delicious treats!

          3) Sloth

Wanna dress as Neopia’s coolest character? Then Sloth is the man for you! What? No, of course I’m not trapped in the Virtupets Space Station writing this against my own free will, why would you say that? This look is ideal for male and female Neopets (because Sloth loves all, and all love him) so, if your little princess is ready for this look, start off with some Bright Green Lipstick and for all you fellas, put on your Slothy Smile. Sloth has a…. uh… particular head shape…but no worries! You too can achieve this look by wearing and Dr Sloth Beanie! Pair the hat with some Sloth Face Slippers (super comfy and super Slothy!) for a complete look from head to toe! A Fancy Theatrical Cape is a perfect match in regards to Sloth’s cape, but any cloak or cape you have in your closet will work too. Wanna match Sloth’s fiery eyes? Of course you do, who wouldn’t?! Throw on a pair of Lava Contacts to mimic Sloth’s vibrant red eyes! What a shame Sloth can’t trick or treat alongside your Neopet (he’s a very busy man) but don’t fret, just carry around a copy of My Best Buddy Sloth Cardboard Cutout while receiving candy unless you don’t feel like it… it seems weird. And that’s it! No costume would better be better (obviously).

          4) Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood is a classic tale that I personally read to all my baby Neopets every night, they absolutely love the story, and your Neopets will love the costume even more! To mimic the faerie-tale character, start with a red base of any sort, I recommend the Holiday Cherry Dress as it fits every Neopian and compliments any paint color. You can’t dress as Red Riding Hood without… well… a hood. Try a Curious Usul Hood and Wig; the combination of hairstyle and headpiece compliments the overall look by adding a feminine flair. As for makeup, try some of the Fire Faerie Eye Shadow and pair it with some Bright Red Lipstick to brighten up your Neopet’s face. You can’t walk through the forest towards grandmother’s house without some protective footwear! Try AAA Host Shoes, the bland color allows the red dress to seem more vibrant. What’s a better way to collect your candy than with a basket? Try either a Basket of Cherries or a Basket of Berries! And off you go to grandmother’s house… or trick or treating!

          5) Soup Faerie

Name a kinder faerie than the Soup Faerie… that’s right, you can’t. Despite feeding hundreds of hungry Neopians daily, the Soup Faerie has little merchandise available, so dressing up as her may be difficult. But never fear! I have put together a simple costume in honor of my favorite faerie. A red bandana and brunette hair is required for a Soup Faerie costume, I like the Kacheek Farm Girl Wig as it incorporates both. Her attire is pretty simple: just a pink top and some denim trousers. I used a Pink Kacheek Bathing Suit in place of her classic pink blouse and tucked it into some Hardy Blue Trousers for good measure. However, there is a wide range of pink blouses floating throughout the marketplace, so feel free to incorporate anyone you already own. Any sturdy shoes should do the trick (wouldn’t wanna slip on some soup) just find some in a neutral shade such as black, brown, or tan; I decided to roll with Kacheek Mage Shoes. With such a lovely outfit, it would be a shame to smear any chocolate on it; top off the look with a Janitors Apron. Finally, finish off the look with some Simple White Wings—homemade or store bought will be fine—to incorporate some faerie magic! Soups on!

         6) Mythical Norse Hero

Wait, so I can’t say Thor? If these looks have been too frilly for your heroic Neopian, never fear! This hero (whose name totally slips my mind) hails from Norse mythology and his costume will make your Neopet feel strong enough to yield any weapon, even a hammer… cough. This hero takes pride in his battle armor, you can mimic his attire by pairing up any steel or silver clothing items; I’ve used a Grarrl Blacksmith Chainmail and tucked it into a pair of Neovian Gentleman Grarrl Trousers. Top this off with any red cape you can find, I prefer the Devil Grarrl Cape, and a pair of shoes that match the color scheme, such as the Alien Shoes. Accessories can really make or break a costume, so be sure to find appropriate ones (even if they cost a little extra!) A Norse hero would never fight crime without letting his golden locks fly free; try any blonde wig out, although, I feel a Not Enough Sleep Wig looks great on any Neopian. Angry Meepit Eyes will bring out the fury from within and will transform your Neopet from shy to a lightning-wielding hero in no time! Don’t forget a weapon! Any will do, but the Grarrl Blacksmith Hammer seems like the perfect match… how strange. A Grarrl Blacksmith Tail Guard isn’t necessary, but it truly makes the outfit feel complete. Time to avenge Neopia!

     Bonus:

You can add some extra flair to any and every Halloween costume instantly by adding two of my favorite spooky accessories: a Nightfall Background and a Jack-O-Lantern Pail.

Well, there you have it! Some simple Neopoint costumes that are perfect for Halloween time, stay tuned for some more costumes in upcoming issues. Until then, stop by the candy shop and carve some pumpkins*!

*Please make sure they aren’t Pumpkin Jubjubs first!
