Say Yes To The Stew! by jrayeb3
--------
In Neopia, some of us aren't what you would call rich. Or some of us are frugal, saving up for something wonderful. Or maybe, you are lazy? *gasp* In a world like this, it's easy to just plunk down an omelette, and call it dinner. Why not make a home cooked meal, easy on your budget? No need to get a box, just use some cheap ingredients, and get something your pets won't forget! How about some stew? Stew is a nice, easy recipe, for any time! A good starter recipe is Grackle Bug. Grackle Bug tastes salty, not the way you think it would.
For this recipe of Grackle Bug Stew, you'll need:
- A pot
- A fire
- A Squished Tomato
- 1 Vial of Pure Water
- A few Grackle Bugs on a Stick
- 2 Breadfish
- And a Stack of Slightly Used Carrots
Now, to make your stew, pour the water into the pot, and hold above the fire. If you can, chop up the Squished Tomato, (and if not just squish it against the side) and the Stack of Slightly Used Carrots. Pour in. Now, take your Grackle Bugs of the stick, and finely dice. Last, chop up your Breadfish, and sprinkle on top. The Breadfish will sop up your stew, while adding some fiber, as it is a fish. Pour into a bowl, and enjoy! Keep some toothpicks handy, as the shells get stuck in your teeth! Now, how about some "Ripe" Dung stew? For this "delectable" treat, you will need:
- 2 Yellow Growths, sustainable harvested
- 1 Spongy Mound, to dip in your stew
- 7 Piles Of Dung
- 1 Rancid Old Meat
- 2 Dung Jellies
- 1 Vial of Pure Water
- 1 pot
Use the pot to hold the Vial Of Pure Water. After you pour that in, stir in the Piles Of Dung. They should turn mushy, and you can squish them. Bleach! The water should turn a Dr. Sloth green. Chop up your Growths and Rancid Meat, and pour into the yucky water. Break off your Dung Jelly into the water. When all of this is done, hold it above your fire. For best flavour, pour into a dirty cup. Do one last stir, and enjoy! Note: The jelly should dissolve. When it is dissolved, you know that your stew is done. A good dinner for more picky eaters is some Fish Stew. You will need:
- 2 Lesser Spotted Fish
- 10 Waterfish
- 1 Giant Green Kelp
- 2 Blandfish
- A pot
- 2 Raw Potatoes
Who says you can't eat Giant Green Kelp? Chop it up, and pour those waterfish into a bowl. This will substitute for water, while adding a slightly fishy taste. For a long time, roast the Kelp over the fire, so it will become soft. After this, cut up your fish and put in the pot! Again, wait for a long time, until they become tender. This will result in a melt in your mouth fish. Finally, cut up your potatoes for a hardy stew. Enjoy! This is a favourite for tourists in Maraqua. Hmm, how about a Desert stew now? The food from the Lost Desert is some of the cheapest! You are going to need:
- 2 Ummagine
- 2 Mummified Peppers
- A Pitcher of Water
- 5 Sand Shrooms
- 1 Tut Trout
To prepare this stew, hold the Pitcher of Water above your fire. This will serve as your pot! Dice up your Ummagine and Peppers, and throw them in. For the Shrooms, cut them up into many pieces, then put them in. A Tut Trout is a good meat for a Desert stew, as it is found in the rare oasis that makes up a small part of the desert. Boil for a long time, so the flavour sinks in good. This stew is best served cold, as that is how the natives eat it, as a refreshing treat. Now that we have a Lost Desert stew, why don't we try a healing stew? It will restore your hit points, and maybe cure you from a disease! I recommend this for severely sick patients. For this important recipe, you will need:
- A large pot
- 1 Cobrall Root
- 1 White Squid Root
- 1 Jar of Crushed Palm Leaves
- 3 Lotus Leaves
- 1 plate of Brown Rice
- A bottle of Pale Elixir- a tasteless healing potion
Chop up all of your roots, and pour into the pot. Add the Crushed Palm Leaves next. Chopped up Lotus Leaves are very important for stopping hiccups, so add those to your mixture. The Brown Rice, which is a nice source of fiber, comes on in to join the party. Last, pour the Elixir into the pot, stir, and boil for 15 minutes. Serve to a sick patient, and they will (hopefully!) feel better soon! It tastes like a carrot stew, with all of the roots in there! This is commonly served by the kind Gelert Doctor in Neopia Central. If we have a healing stew, why don't you try a sickening stew? For this lovely brew, you will need:
- 1 Poisonous Jelly
- 2 Rotten Beetroots
- 1 Malice Potion
- 10 Poisonous Snowflakes
- 1 Bag Of Sugar
- 1 can of Chokato Baby Food
The first thing you need to do is pour your Malice Potion into your pot, and simmer over low heat. Then, Cook it over the fire, as you would normally, for a few minutes. Chop up your Beetroots, and pour them in. Make sure you squeeze them, because then they will let out a staining juice. It should start to bubble. Now, stir in your Poisonous Snowflakes, and they will melt. Slice your Poisonous Jelly into long pieces, and stir into your base. Please wear gloves! Finally, pour in you Baby Food and Bag Of Sugar. This will make it taste, smell, and look, like a sweet Chokato stew. This is perfect for annoying neighbors! Well, folks, it looks like we are out of time. I hope you enjoyed this cooking episode, and keep your eyes peeled for more! Thanks to Jellyneo for being awesome, and having an item database, and a list of the cheapest items in Neopia!
