Lucky Me: Part Seven by soccer266redy

“Are you sure?” Sasha whispered to Aura as she ate her part of the Cheese Omelette. “I mean, it was only a dream right?”
“I don’t know if it was just a dream. It felt real to me, and it would make sense because the last of the chosen ones has to be a Lupe, remember?”
“But how would you dream about something that was actually happening in real life? I mean, that just seems, no offence, rather ridiculous to me that you could see something like that at a time when we need to know where the last one is. You could have just seen what you wanted to see, Sage being the last chosen one so you could see him again.”
Aura sighed in defeat and went back to eating her part of the Cheese Omelette while trying to remember every detail of her dream. It all just seemed to fit to Aura; however, Sasha did have a point by saying that this might be what she wanted to see, but Aura knew that that wasn’t so because she could see the story play out in front of her.
On the day that she left, that was what Sage was going to show her, the necklace with the red gem in it that looked like hers. It all made perfect sense, yet Sasha refused to listen to a word of it and said that she was just dreaming about what she wanted to see. True, she wanted Sage to be the last chosen one, that would be so cool, but she didn’t want it that badly that she would dream about it.
“We should ask Sam if he knows anything that we don’t,” Sasha said while she took a sip from her apple juice. “The more information we have, the better our chances are of finding the last one, which we know could very well be Sage.”
“Ok, what’s up with you and talking to Sam! That’s the only thing that you’ve suggested this whole time! ‘We should talk to Sam,’ ‘Maybe Sam would know more about this when we do,’ If you can get Sam alone to talk to him then be my guest to ask him questions, but so far he’s been with Anthony almost 24/7!”
“That’s the point, Aura; I mean, why would Anthony be spending so much time with Sam and not us? It’s obvious that Sam knows something that he doesn’t want us to find out, so by keeping Sam with him 24/7 there would be no way for us to figure out what Sam knows unless we try to figure it out the hard way.”
Aura was about to make a remark about how dumb her idea was, but when she thought it over in her head it did make some sense. Why would Anthony spend so much time with Sam, and tell them not to bother him, if there wasn’t something that he was trying to hide? “You know, that actually makes some sense, Sasha. I mean, why keep Sam with him all the time, and never let us talk to him even though he is our own brother? But so what if Sam knows anything! If Sage really is the last one, then he’ll be coming over today when it’s a blue moon! Then all Anthony needs to do is perform the ceremony, and then he’ll....”
“Aura!” Sasha screamed before she had any time to continue, “If Sage is really coming over today, then don’t you think that Anthony would have told you?” “We haven’t seen him yet, so there would be no way for him to tell me, and he might want it to be a little bit of a surprise too.” “I guess, but like I said before, we need to talk to Sam to figure out what all he knows and then maybe we’ll be able to find the last neopet which we know could very well be Sage.” “Why won’t you just accept the fact that it is Sage!” “Aura, you saw it in a dream, and don’t say that you didn’t see what you wanted to see. There are millions of Lupes out there in Neopia, so we need to think about that because the only thing we have that says that Sage is the last one that we need is your dream that might just be a dream and nothing more.” Aura dropped the conversation, seeing that nothing would convince Sasha that Sage really was the one that they were looking for, and finished eating her part of the Cheese Omelette. They continued to eat their breakfast in silence, and Aura couldn’t stand there being nothing to talk about. She was about to bring up something to say, like a comment on the weather or something unrelated to their problems, when Sam walked into the kitchen alone.
“Hey,” he said and walked over to the Stone Shelves; “sorry about just having Omelette for breakfast, you two, but as you can tell we don’t have much food to work with to make something else, but that should change soon because Anthony is going to be here soon to take me shopping for food so tonight we can have a better meal.”
“Ok,” Aura said, clearly determined to make good use of the time they had alone with Sam, “so where did you come from, Sam?”
“Me?” he asked, puzzled. “I thought that Anthony already told you all about me, or at least that’s what he told me.”
“Actually,” Sasha chimed in sounding as innocent as possible, “Anthony hasn’t told us anything about you, and told us not to talk to you either.” She made up the last part, but Sam didn’t need to know that.
“Really? Well, I guess that I should start my story then.” He sat down on one of the chairs and began his story. He had been sent to the pound the Christmas he was created, after Anthony had given him the necklace and after his owner painted him Electric, and had lived with Anthony ever since.
“So,” Sasha said after Sam got done with his story, “has Anthony done anything really weird over the last two days? I mean the owners that I’ve been with have always been around for most of the day, but Anthony never seems to be available.”
“Yeah, I don’t really know where he goes off to, but all I know is that he’ll come back in about six hours to possibly a week, but he seems to be very busy these days with something. I’m not sure what it is, but he goes and works on it every day in the shed out back.”
“A shed?” Aura asked, confused. “I don’t remember there being any shed when we got here.”
“I know; that’s because there wasn’t,” Sam replied while pointing out the window to the White Shed in the back deed graveyard garden. “Anthony just got it once you two were adopted. I think that he might be working on a surprise for you two or something, but like I said, I’m not too sure.”
But Aura knew what was going on in that shed. Anthony was preparing for the ceremony while they were in here eating Cheese Omelette. “Sam,” Aura asked once she got her mind back from the shock, “have you ever asked Anthony what he was doing in the shed?”
“Well, no, I really haven’t, because I just want to respect his privacy.”
“Something tells me that that’s what we were looking for, Aura!” Sasha shrieked and began to smile. “We know where it’s going to take place! And you said that talking to Sam would be a waste of time!” Sasha began to skip around the room singing, “I told you so I told you so,” as Sam began to question Aura.
“What are you two talking about? What’s going on in the shed?” Then Aura began to fill Sam in on everything that they knew about what was going to take place today. “So we only have about a couple hours left before Sage could get here?”
“Yeah,” Aura said over Sasha’s gloats, “and if there is anything that we can do to stop this from happening, then that would mean saving Neopia and every neopet and neopet owner as well.” Sam sighed and said, possibly to himself, “This is just like a fairy tale book,” then he added louder, “So you’re sure that Sage is the last one?”
“Well, like I said, it was only a dream, and I could’ve just been seeing what I wanted to see, but I’m pretty sure that he is. Why?”
“Because I think I might have a way to get at least one of us out of the house at the time the ceremony should take place, but I’m not sure if I’ll have enough time to get it all set up.”
“Why? What do you plan to do? And will you please stop skipping around the room already, Sasha!” Sasha finally snapped back to reality and joined the conversation, but was still humming ‘I told you so. I told you so.’
“Well, I was thinking that I might be able to make a little tunnel that Sage could use to get out of the house with. So then, when it gets closer to night, we’ll play a game of hide and seek, ok? Then Sage uses the tunnel to get out of the house and far away from here so that way there would be no way for Anthony to perform the ceremony because he’ll be missing one of us. Then at like one or so in the morning we’ll finally ‘find’ Sage, and therefore Anthony won’t be suppositious. But this will only work if I can get the tunnel dug before Anthony gets home with Sage because as soon as he does, he’s sure to keep us all under his watch.”
“Right,” Aura said with a nod of her head, “so you should get started right-”
“AURA!” Aura was tackled to the ground by her familiar little bundle of purple fur, Sage.
