Winter Holiday Season in Neopia: 12 Fun Things to Do

     Wintertime is here! You may be enjoying the holiday season by sitting by the fireplace at the Mountain Lodge or sipping on a fresh hot cup of Borovan. However, don't forget all the fun that you can have during the month of Celebrating! Here are some quick things to help you and your Neopets get into the holiday spirit this season!

     (#1) Visit the Advent Calendar and Collect a Rare Prize:

     It’s no surprise that this is number one on the list. This is a fun way to obtain some goodies: battledome items, treats for pets, clothes to wear as the weather turns chilly, and a variety of other items are available all month during the Winter Starlight Celebration. Not to mention, there are a couple of snazzy avatars to obtain too. And, maybe this will be the year the Pant Devil doesn’t steal that Rod of Supernova!

     (#2) Steal an Item from the Snowager:

     As we all know, the Snowager is hibernating all month. And that is good news for Neopians. We can all finally get revenge on all the times we have been blasted for trying to steal its treasure. It’s payback time. Go in and steal an item, with no fear of retribution.

     (#3) Complete a Snow Faerie Quest:

     According to most polls, the Snow Faerie is the most neglected of all the Faeries (author’s note: at least, according to the one poll I made on the Neoboards). Poor Taelia. Let us all take some time away from our busy lives and help her obtain the items she needs for her delicious concoctions.

     (#4) Restock a Rare Icy Item:

     If you want to test your reflexes and skills against other Neopians, try restocking at one of the winter shops. If you are especially skillful and quite lucky, you may even become an overnight Neomillionaire by snagging a Candychan, Freezing Potion, or Magical Pea Chia Pop. Not sure how to restock or where to even begin? Not to worry, there are dozens of friendly Neopians on the message boards that would be happy to teach you. And they are willing to give you advice – it is the Season of Giving, after all.

     (#5) Play Some Winter Games:

     These games are available year-round, but let’s face it, the proper time to play them is in the winter. Let it Slide, Snowmuncher, Terror Mountain Tilt, Snow Wars, Snowbeast Sackrifice, Dar-Blat!!!, and many other winter-themed games are available to play. Can you score high enough to get an elusive avatar? If you manage that, challenge yourself even more - go against Neopia’s finest and try for a trophy!

     (#6) Fight in the Ice Arena:

     The Battledome is one of Neopia’s biggest attractions. Pets from far and wide show off their strength and cunningness against their foes. But did you know that there is a winter-themed battle arena available? Try it out for yourself by going against cold, chilly foes such as the Snow Faerie and Snow Beast. If you count your Neopet amongst the strongest, toughest, ferocious in Neopia, try battling against the Snowager. He puts up a great fight and won’t go down easy!

     (#7) Fix your Toy at the Toy Repair Shop:

     It is Holiday season, and that means gifts and toys for all the Neopets. Unfortunately, toys break occasionally. Cheer up, though, because the Toy Repair Shop located at the top of Terror Mountain can fix everything right up.

     (#8) Send Season’s Greetings to your Neofriends:

     It is the Season of Giving. And we give to others to remind them how much they mean to us. We have all met so many fantastic people throughout our journeys in Neopia. Remind them all of how important they are to you by sending them a NeoGreeting from the Winter Starlight Celebration.

     (#9) Visit the Annual Stocking Stufftacular Event:

     For anything you cannot find via regular means, you can visit The NC Mall. The NC Mall is back again, selling annual Stocking Packs. Take advantage of this amazing, limited-time offer and get some extra special holiday-themed goodies for your Neopets.

     (#10) Visit the Scratch Card Wocky:

     Between you and me, the Scratch Card Wocky is the nicest of the scratch card dealers. Especially, compared to Sidney… but that’s another article. Visit the Wocky in Terror Mountain and purchase a random scratch card. Match six shapes to win from an assortment of prizes – including Neopoints, snowballs to battle with, or toys for your pets. If you are extremely lucky, you may even win the jackpot, which is sometimes worth a million Neopoints or more.

     (#11) Celebrate the Holidays by Painting your Precious Neopet “Christmas”:

     What better way to say “Bring on the Holidays” than painting your Neopets a new color? If you find the rare Christmas Paint Brush and take your pet to the Rainbow Pool, then you can turn it into a special Christmas version. Need help obtaining a Christmas Paint Brush? I hear Cliffhanger sometimes gives one out as a prize. And if painting your pet isn’t enough, feel free to paint your petpet too! However, you’ll have to find a Christmas Petpet Paint Brush for that.

     (#12) Dress Up your Neopet in Warm Clothes:

     It’s going to get cold, and Neopets should be dressed accordingly so they don’t catch the NeoFlu! I am not even going to pretend to be an expert in Neopia’s clothes, but I do know enough to confidently say there are thousands of different winter-themed clothing styles for you to try out. You can always try to mix and match your own ideas, but if you want a second opinion, there are many kind souls on the Neoboards that would be willing to offer one.

     (BONUS #13) Visit Mystery Island:

     It’s important to realize that winter is not everyone’s favorite season. Some may prefer year-round warmth. For those of you who feel this way, maybe a vacation to Mystery Island would be preferable to the activities mentioned earlier. After all, who couldn’t use a Tiki Tour around the beach or a visit to the Island Mystic for some sage advice?
