Quote of the Week

Behind the Blue Acara princess, her eldest brother, King Hagan of Brightvale, stood near the door. Normally he would not visit her this early in the day, but early reports had arrived that the neighbouring kingdom of Meridell had been robbed of all its colour overnight and given that they had both been born there and that their brother Skarl was the king of that land, he had wanted to be the one to tell her.

Brightvale: Come and Learn

We in Brightvale have just observed our national day. Despite the uncanny grey that has settled over the kingdom, it was a joyous occasion; my people, as well as a myriad of visitors, came in droves to my castle in celebrations that I, King Hagan, hosted. But, the festivities gave me a moment’s pause. I love this kingdom and each within it who make it the bastion of knowledge and excellent fruit, and based on tax revenue reported by the Wheel of Knowledge, the Motery, the Book Shop, the Armoury, the Scrollery, the Potionery, the Glaziers, and the farmers, Neopians love Brightvale too. These attractions are indeed what first draws the eye in any Brightvale map. As king, however, I know there is much more Brightvale has for visitors to do, yet these things are often overlooked. With writing one of my many interests, penning an article to call attention to these lesser known sights should truly have occurred to me sooner. Alas, wiser minds before me have said it best: better late than never! 1. Tour Brightvale Castle While I open my throne room hoping to receive new words of wisdom, I do also choose certain days to open the rest of the castle. I commissioned it, after all, and it remains my pride and joy; sharing this with others is only natural. Every window and spire has a history that the castle tour guides—not to be confused with the royal guards—are happy to tell. Because it is my residence and the guards take their due precautions, tour reservations must be made six months in advance and depend on Court approval. It can be somewhat of a wait, and reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, but the castle tour is free, even to non-Brightvale citizens. Besides the guided history tour, visitors can: *Peruse one of the castle’s libraries. Yes, plural! Be aware, books must remain inside the castle; they are not gifts, but my own collections I share for the day. *Talk to those in the castle. Because of its vast tomes of knowledge, the castle draws renowned scholars worldwide, and any scholar worth their salt wastes no opportunity to discuss their work. My staff is friendly, too, and I certainly hope I am approachable! *Walk through the gardens. Garden staff are immensely prideful...

Attending Usukicon is always a memorable experience, but if you are attending for the first time, then this guide was created just for you so that you can make the most out of this exciting annual event and attend with confidence. In this guide, you’ll find advice on planning your day, items to pack, and ways to help ensure that you stay comfortable throughout your experience! It may seem at first as though a guide for attending a convention might be unnecessary, but from the two authors of this article (who have both attended their fair share of cons!), these are some crucial tips, tricks and recommendations that we have discovered that have made our events truly comfortable and helped to maximize our fun! Although conventions can sometimes be overwhelming, following these tips will help make your first Usukicon one to remember forever! 1. Preparation and Research This one may seem obvious, but saving up your Neopoints before the convention is one of the biggest tips that we can provide: there is a LOT of Usuki merch that is convention exclusive and you can’t get anywhere else! Prices can range from reasonable to rather expensive depending on what you’re looking to purchase, so keeping an eye on the yearly Usukicon schedule and planning your funds ahead is a great way to make sure you’re able to bring home all the goodies and merch that you’ve had...

Everything About: Faerieland Magic Academy

Hello! I'm Kaia, you may know me as the faerie from Shenkuu. I've foreseen your interest to know more about the Faerieland Magic Academy and its particularities. Well, I can gladly help you with that. It's been 7 years since the Wraith Ressurgence happened and I'm finally finishing my doctorate in Sight Ability. I'm living my biggest dream: next year I'll be a Professor at the Academy. I couldn't be happier. Ok, now let's get back to the subject. I've selected the most asked questions about the FMA. 1. Do you need to be a faerie to enter the Academy? No. But one thing is important: you have to have an ability. Magical ability, specifically. Which means, considering the beings in Neopia: faeries, shamans, wizards, warlocks, sorceresses, sensitives and even witches (if they behave, of course) are welcome in the Academy. If you're one of these listed options, feel free to subscribe to our Entrance Exam. 2. And how exactly do you enter the Academy? You'll have to attend the Entrance Exam. It has four stages and happens inside the campus in Faerieland. a) The First Stage - Knowledge (approx. 200 candidates) It's a written examination. The subject of this exam involves both personal open questions and faerieland knowledge. I suggest you read the book "Culture and History of Faerieland" (I know it's not the most affordable price but if you're lucky enough you'll probably find a copy to read inside the Faerieland Bookshop for free!) or if you prefer, read every single "All About" faerie book. You'll have to get a B+ to pass to the next stage.

Far beyond the cratered northern pole of Kreludor and the population of Orange Grundos who resided in its Orange Central Moon Base, the rocky plains of the southern hemisphere were littered with lava tubes that dated from the moon's original formation. Generations ago, a small population of Purple Grundos fled to this cave network to escape the clutches of a certain tyrant and now their descendants remained there under the leadership of Zorlix. Life hadn't always been easy for these subterranean residents - their plight having been made worse by the long-since ended Kreludan Civil War - but in recent years exciting, large-scale developments were under way. Not least the newly announced Kreludan Yooyuballing Academy, which had created quite the Buzz. Taking in a large inhalation of breath, a tracksuit-clad Zenor Kevix exhaled it with unabashed glee. The Academy was very much the newly-retired Team Kreludor right forward's baby.

"Usukicon Madness" by endisnigh
Seren was frantically running around her house trying to grab some last-minute items. The Brown Usul was planning on meeting with her friend Onica for the heavily anticipated event – Usukicon. They were going to camp outside the doors this year to ensure early entry and first access for all the Usuki-packed fun. “Folding chair… tote bag… blanket… snacks… pass with lanyard…” she said aloud to herself, double checking she had everything on her list. Seren looked down at her cosplay to check that everything looked okay. She was dressed as Mira, the Space Faerie. She had on the Faerie’s iconic red and blue body suit that she had sewn herself and donned a matching vibrant blue wig. She grabbed a few more bobby pins to help secure it in place. “Oh! Almost forgot!” she said as she raced to her bedroom. She grabbed two Usuki dolls from her bed. She had the regular Space Faerie Usuki Doll and the Fashionable Space Faerie Usuki Doll.

"Yooyuball Shenanigans" by maddie_bangz
“Come on team, we have to FOCUS!” Prytariel roared as she slung the Yooyu towards the net as hard as she could. Her heart pounded and sweat dripped down her face from the effort. She watched as Minae half-heartedly reached for the Yooyu as it flew past her and careened neatly into the goal. Minae slumped to the ground dramatically. “Prytariel please! We need a break, we’ve been practicing for hours.” Minae grumbled as she pulled her hood back and began fanning her face. The rest of the Terror Mountain Yooyuball team mumbled their agreements and collapsed to the ground in exhaustion. Prytariel looked around at her teammates in disappointment. “We only get one guaranteed rest day a week. We have to use this time to practice so we can come back stronger and better than ever!” Prytariel insisted. She threw her arms out in frustration as her teammates continued to sit around, panting and looking at each other in commiseration.
