Do You Have What it Takes to Run the Hidden Tower?

by 9kas

--------

Psst, hey you! Yes, you, Neopian! What are you doing lurking by the Hidden Tower gates?

Oh, you’re looking to help Queen Fyora with the Tower’s operations? Well, I do suppose the Queen is currently extremely preoccupied with saving Neopia from those invading Void creatures. And since the annual Faerie Festival is just around the corner, the Queen will be even busier as she oversees Illusen and Jhudora, keeping them in line as they host the festival, so she may indeed require some help to keep the Tower functioning properly!

In the past, when Queen Fyora required an extra pair of hands with Hidden Tower operations, such as during the Wraith Resurgence, Baelia had been called upon to help. But seeing as even Baelia is quite preoccupied with the Void situation… alright, let’s see whether you would potentially be suitable to help out. The final decision belongs to Queen Fyora, of course! But please complete the following questionnaire as part of the initial screening process:

     1. No directions to the Hidden Tower were provided. How did you find your way here?

     A) You were actually looking for the Wheel of Excitement, but accidentally walked into the invisible Tower walls instead.

     B) As an avid Queen Fyora fan, you know exactly location of the Tower

     C) You’ve purchased a Squeezy Tombola Guy Toy here in the past, and thankfully you remembered how to get back here.

     D) You are a long standing customer of the Hidden Tower. You’ve traversed Neopia far and wide, it was no trouble finding the Tower again.

     2. Why do you want to work at the Hidden Tower?

     A) “I’m so sick of Hospital Shifts!” You blurt out.

     B) It would be an honor to serve the Queen in this way!

     C) Working at the Hidden Tower is such a cool opportunity - oh, and are there employee discounts?

     D) You would love putting your customer service skills to use by sharing the magic of the rarest items in all of Neopia. Customers journey to the Hidden Tower for their dream purchases - how exciting it'd be to partake in those moments!

     3. The Hidden Tower closes to customers from the hours of 1AM-2PM NST, 7AM-8AM NST, and 10PM-11PM NST. What would you do during these hours?

     A) SLEEP. You're exhausted.

     B) Go grab a burrito in Faerie City - you’ll be back in time when the Hidden Tower re-opens.

     C) Stay put but order takeout, and catch up with some Neomails to friends as you enjoy your meal.

     D) Stay busy! Tidy up, restock! Clean, sweep. The place must stay spotless!

     4. Oh heavens to Fyora, what happened to the time? You're running late to open the Hidden Tower for the day - what do you do?

     A) Take your time. Neopians will have to learn to be patient if they want to buy any treasures.

     B) Hurry up a little bit as you put on your best Fyora-esque makeup. You must look your very best for customers!

     C) Run through Neopia to reach the Tower ASAP - you’ll get there very very soon, no one will notice!

     D) Being late for customers is NOT an option. You will sincerely apologize to any waiting customers, and vow to do better tomorrow!

     5. A customer brings their Mutant Kad into the Hidden Tower and you notice it slinking among the merchandise. What do you do?

     A) You have other customers and tasks to tend to - you can’t be bothered.

     B) Say nothing, but keep a watchful eye on that Kad…you could swear that you see some sort of mischievous glint in its devilish eyes…

     C) Fashion an impromptu sign with the words, “No petpets allowed.” Hang it by the entrance and ask the customer to leave with their Kad that is likely up to no good.

     D) Politely ask the customer to hold onto their Kad.

     6. It is the monthly discount day and there are too many customers for you to handle! What do you do?

     A) Cut the discount time short, people will go away!

     B) Keep juggling everything the best you can. If you look confident like Fyora no one will know you’re flustered… right?

     C) Call for backup, it’s a bit too much for you to handle yourself.

     D) Create an orderly line for Neopians to wait in. Assure them it won’t be a long wait. Perhaps offer them a burrito as they wait in line.

     7. The Meerca Henchmen appear! With wide smirks, they demand that you hand over a Fan of Swords - what should you do?

     A) Give it to them so they would leave, you don’t want to deal with such notorious thieves.

     B) Intimidate them with your best Fyora impression… will they fall for it?

     C) Quickly grab the Fan of Swords and a Ghostkerbomb for good measure, and battle them until they run away!

     D) Activate alarms, protect all treasures, keep customers calm, and demand the pesky Meerca Brothers to leave. They have no business messing with you or Queen Fyora.

     8. A particularly stingy customer attempts to haggle with you: do you entertain their negotiations?

     A) Sure, as long as they get out of the Hidden Tower ASAP, so you can continue chilling.

     B) Fyora is so benevolent, she must not mind giving a small discount.

     C) They’re offering 500,000 on the Baby Paint Brush, uh, that’s just a… 10,000 NP discount, right? Math is not your forte.

     D) Sorry, no negotiations are possible. Tower prices are fair and all Neopians will pay the same price.

Thank you so much for completing the questionnaire! Whether you’re a good fit or not, we appreciate your enthusiasm for the role. Queen Fyora will reach out within the next month if she chooses to proceed with the hiring process.

In the meantime, count the number of each response (A-D) to see how well you will fit into the role of a Hidden Tower employee!

     Mostly A’s:

Sorry, chap. Working at the Hidden Tower is a demanding job that requires utmost devotion and attention to detail. Maybe keep chugging along at those Hospital shifts or continue looking for other opportunities. There will be somewhere in Neopia that would appreciate your talents. We look forward to seeing your growth and experience should you look to apply to the Hidden Tower again in the future.

     Mostly B’s:

You’re definitely a fan of the Queen and can embody her spirit, but is passion alone enough to handle the duties of Hidden Tower? Queen Fyora will surely appreciate your dedication towards her, but she also requires an experienced, responsible Neopian to entrust her treasures.

     Mostly C’s:

You have a general sense of responsibility but maybe need more working experience before you're ready to take the reins. Perhaps you can take a look at helping out at Hubert’s Hot Dogs or the Bakery first - those shopkeepers can surely use your enthusiasm and help as they’re struggling with the grey curse. The Faerieland Employment Agency also provides fantastic employment opportunities.

     Mostly D’s:

You’d be a great help - responsible, watchful, someone to be counted on, worthy of the Queen's trust for the most precious treasures in all of Neopia. You know how to deal with sticky situations should those occur, and appear to be able to handle the great responsibility of representing Queen Fyora in her beloved Tower. Just one last question - can you start tomorrow?
