Hannah and The Faerie Caverns

by sky_lady

--------

It was a sunny and quiet morning, the rays of sun entered all the room but Hannah was already too impatient and busy as usual. "Are you ready for the new adventure?" Hannah asked Armin while she was getting her adventurer's pack prepared. "Torch, checked! Fuel's deposit filled, checked!..."

*Archoo…* "I think I can't go with you this time, Hannah. I got sneezles!" Armin said, with his nose red, looking sick and a little tired.

"Aww, are you sure? This adventure seems so funny but at the same time so dangerous. I'd prefer to have you by my side…"

     *Achooo. Acho!...*

"…Oh!" Hannah exclaimed. "You actually look terrible, you should stay at home and rest. I'll go alone, it can't be that bad!"

"I'm so sorry, Hannah…" Armin said while he was trying to find his Ice Tissue Box. "Please, be careful!"

Hannah rushed through the house looking down at her watch, "Sure, don't worry. I can take care of myself. I'm a little late, I've got to go now. I hope you get better, Armin!"

When Hannah landed on Faerieland, she found something that seemed to be a plushie stuck on a tree. "What is that? Is it a Blue Grundo plushie?" She asked to herself, as she was approaching to the tree. She stopped in front of the plushie for a while, starring at it but nothing seemed to happen so she decided to keep going her way.

She couldn't stop thinking about the plushie. "It was just a waste of time! I should have known that I wouldn't get any help from plushies!" She thought while she was climbing her way to the Faerie Caverns.

Hannah, while walking and thinking was suddenly startled. A red Poogle appeared in her way "Hi!" The red Poogle said, smiling at her.

"Oh! Hi there!" She said surprised. "I'm Hannah and I guess I'm lost. I'm trying to find the Faerie Caverns but I've been climbing for a long time and I never seem to reach the top of it." Hannah said to the Poogle that was now starring at her.

"Ah! I heard something about you! You're Hannah, the adventurer!" The red Poogle claimed, excited. "I think I can help you! The Faerie Caverns are located next to the Poogle Races, so I know exactly where it is. Follow me!"

Hannah was scared somehow; she had never spoken to a Poogle before, but that one seemed nice. "Hmm okay then…" She said and started following him.

It seems like that their journey had just begun without them knowing it. They became partners in Hannah's new adventure.

"So Hannah, what are you expecting to find at the Faerie Caverns?" The Poogle asked with curiosity.

"I believe there is a treasure. I'm always hunting treasures, so I'm hoping to find in the caverns a huge treasure chest!" She said looking really enthusiastic.

The red Poogle stopped as he was in front of Hannah and turned around to face her. "Oh, I see, a treasure hunter? My Poogle friends heard that it's a little hard to find the treasure, because inside the caverns there are a lot of dangerous tunnels. Although, even if you find the treasure, you never know what is inside the chest! Some Neopets that adventured themselves into those tunnels became rich, but some of them received nothing."

"I heard you can find some items as well, is that true and do you know what the items are?" Hannah asked as she jogged to be next to him.

They continued to walk along the path.

"Never heard about it, all I know is that you can get Neopoints! Once I entered the caverns and got a thousand Neopoints! I spent it on food, though," the Poogle said, rolling his eyes while he was thinking about all the Hot Dogs he ate with the Neopoints he earned the last time.

"It's here Hannah, the entrance for the Faerie Caverns!" The red Poogle said, as he stopped in front of a small entrance filled with some water and a little covered by bushes.

"Really? Doesn't seem that creepy at all! Let's get inside! Are you coming with me?" Hannah seemed excited about her adventure since the caverns seemed friendly towards her. "It would help having you with me. Since you've already been here, you must know it better than I do. So, join me, please. Pleeease?"

"Hmm… I was supposed to participate in a race within a few minutes, but I think I'll go look for the treasure instead!" The red Poogle said. He was actually feeling like an adventurer that day.

When they were starting to get into the caverns they heard a mysterious sound from the inside, so they held each other's hands… *ahem* I mean, Hannah held the Poogle's ear, that was the Poogle's body part closer to her hand, and they got inside the Faerie Caverns.

When they entered at the caverns they saw two tunnels in front of them. "We have to pick one of this two, Hannah, we'd better stay together!" The Poogle said, a little scared of the darkness that was inside the caverns.

"I'm not so sure if we should stay together…" Hannah started saying while she was thinking about a solution. "If we pick different tunnels we have more chances to find the treasure because we will search in different areas! Don't tell me you're afraid for that creepy sound was not that creepy after all, there are no monsters here," She lied, trying to convince the Poogle.

"Hmm, maybe you're right, Hannah. There are a lot of tunnels inside; it would be faster if each one explores a different way. I just hope we don't get lost…" The Poogle said, feeling a little nervous. He knew the tunnels could be tricky at some point.

"We will find the treasure! Let's get started!" Hannah said as she was already disappearing in the right tunnel.

*Red Poogle's Part*

While getting into the left tunnel, the red Poogle walked for a while in the darkness, that's when he saw a brilliant light getting brighter. When he finally reached the end of that tunnel he found another two tunnels, one at his left and other in the right side. "Oh, this is a good sign! I'm getting closer, but which one should I pick now?!"

As he was thinking about which tunnel he should pick, a faerie Korbat flew above his head going to the right tunnel and laughing. "I'll follow that Korbat!" The red Poogle thought and ran behind the Korbat. He ran as fast as he could but he was too slow. With the darkness and the wet floor it was not easy to reach the Korbat' speed. The small Poogle was already a little dizzy from running so fast. He started to see that shiny light again. "I'm in the right way for the treasure! But I wonder how is Hannah going?"

*Hannah's Part*

Hannah went for the right tunnel and it was even darker than the entrance, but luckily it was quite dry. She turned on the torch that she always has in her adventurer's pack and walked carefully through the tunnel. The tunnel was long and dark however, she soon found herself with a new hard decision: another two tunnels had shown up, one at her left and other at right.

Hannah always had better luck with the right side, so she picked the right one without even thinking. "I have no time to lose!" She told to herself, "right tunnel, here I go!"

She ran to the entrance of the new tunnel. The tunnel was harder than she expected. It was a little bit different than the other one, the floor was almost filled up with water that seemed to raise more as she was walking. The tunnel had some breaches that turned off her torch, with no light and water surrounding her she had to dive in and swim. She was failing swimming against the water' strength, she was getting tired and feeling too weak.

She remembered she had an aquatic propulsor; she turned it on and, in a blink of an eye, she was out of that dangerous tunnel.

Hannah wasn't expecting such a hard tunnel. She looked down and realized her fuel's deposit was empty! "How am I supposed to get out of here?" She had started to panic.

All of a sudden, she realized that she had another two tunnels in front of her. "Urgh, not again!" She was becoming a little upset as well with all those tunnels. "Right one again! I can almost feel the treasure."

So, she walked into the right tunnel. Hannah was completely wet and tired; her torch was not possible to turn on, so she had to walk in the darkness for a while, feeling her way through the tunnel. Although, this tunnel seemed to be quiet simple. The floor was regular and not wet, it was not cold and she could hear a lovely sound coming from the end of the tunnel.

When she reached it, she found herself in a small chamber but with a huge treasure chest shinning in front of her eyes; "YES! I did it! I FOUND THE TREASURE!!" she was so happy that ran to open it.

But when she opened it, her eyes showed some disappointment... "WHAT?!" Hannah yelled in rage. She was clearly upset, "so THIS is my treasure??" She kept yelling while pointing at the treasure chest.

Inside the chest it was a few neopoints and… something that seemed to be a stamp. Hannah was annoyed. "I'm not even a STAMP COLLECTOR! I want a REAL treasure! I want to be rich!" She yelled even more in frustration. Suddenly, her eyes were filling with tears and she started crying.

It wasn't obviously what she was expecting. She sank down onto the floor, "what now? What should I do? Without fuel and with a small stamp I can't get out of here, I won't be able to go through the flooded tunnel."

*Red Poogle's Part*

The faerie Korbat disappeared, but the red Poogle found the way out of that tunnel and into two other tunnels. "I'm so tired of picking these tunnels!" The Poogle said annoyed as he started to walk towards the left once again.

That tunnel was weird, there were no water on the floor but somehow the tunnel was cold and the Poogle started feeling wet; there was water raining over him. The water was coming from nowhere but seemed to be more and more each step the Poogle made. He started running as much as he could, but in the darkness that was not an easy task and the poor Poogle fell on the ground. "Oh nooo!" He screamed.

It was a rocky ground and the Poogle got injured at one of his legs. The tunnel started being flooded with water and the poor Poogle couldn't move his leg.

"OH NO!" He screamed in horror. "I don't know how to swim, where is Hannah?? I need her help!"

He started crying and screaming thinking about all that water that would surround him in no time. He was in so much panic that he was not even looking to the shiny thing that was a few meters in front of him: a Treasure Chest!

Somehow the treasure chest started sparkling and caught the Poogle's attention. "The treasure…" He whispered. "I found it once again!" His eyes started rolling again as he was thinking about all the food he was going to buy with all those Neopoints!

These thoughts gave him strength to continue his adventure. He was injured and couldn't walk, so he was slowly crawled to the treasure chest. He didn't have much time since the water was filling the chamber of the treasure chest.

"Let's see what is inside." He said as he was opening the chest. Instead of Neopoints, he found something that seemed to be wings.

"NO WAY?! Where are my neopoints?" He screamed frustrated. "I need them to go buy my hot dogs and pizzas and some healthy food as well because I am a little fat… But it doesn't matter now, where is the money?" The Poogle was confused. He didn't find neopoints but, instead of it, there were wings at the bottom of the chest. It was easy to see the sadness in the Poogle's eyes.

However, when he started feeling the water surrounding his neck, he had an idea! "Oh my! That's exactly what I need right now!" He claimed, proud of his smartness, while he put on the wings. He had now a way to get out of those tunnels. He only needed to find Hannah…

*Hannah's Part*

"Please! Someone help me! Please!" She was screaming with the stamp in her hand. No one seemed to hear her, though.

"What can I do? I have no way out of here!" She cried as she laid her head back and looked above.

That was when she saw a small tunnel located almost in the top of the cavern. "I can't reach it, it's too high for me. I have to think about something!"

Hannah never lost her hope and tried really hard to think about something to make her climb those rocky walls but she had nothing inside the adventurer's pack that could help her. She looked into the treasure chest and had an idea. If she threw the Neopoints, then maybe the Poogle could hear the sound of the coins falling on the floor or see its sparkle! That was exactly what she did; she started screaming for help and tossing Neopoints to the small hole above her.

She threw every single Neopoint that was in the chest but no one appeared to hear to rescue her. She started to feel the coldness as she waited a few hours. She was all alone. Now, she was starting to lose her hope…

*Red Poogle's Part*

While he was flying trying to find Hannah or a way out of those tunnels, he saw something shinning on the floor. "Is that a NEOPOINT?!"

The Poogle flew to grab the Neopoint and found a lot more together. He picked every single Neopoint and found himself flying through a small tunnel. This time there were not two tunnels but just one. A small one, actually. "It must mean I'm close to the exit now!" He claimed triumphant.

When he crossed the tunnel and looked under him, he found Hannah crying on the ground. "Hannah! I finally found you! And I found the treasure! What did you find? Why are you crying?" The Poogle was so excited and had so many questions and stories to tell her that he had no idea where to start.

"I'm without fuel, I only found a stamp and a few neopoints at this chest and I want to *snif* I want to go home,*snif*" Hannah couldn't stop her tears from rolling down her face.

"Come with me! I found these wings and I'll take you out of here!" The Poogle said, while he was carrying Hannah and flying through the caverns. They saw the sun light entering from a hole at the top of the cavern and the Poogle flew straight to there. Finally they were outside! And it was possible to see Faerieland.

"Let's keep flying, Hannah! After this adventure you deserve to visit Faerieland, it's a wonderful place. And after showing you this magical land, we will spend these neopoints eating some Hot Dogs! The Faerie Hot Dog is delicious!" The Poogle said with his big eyes shining; he was really happy about that day.

"Ahaha, sure Mr. Red Poogle! Let's do it!" Hannah was now smiling and her eyes were shining as brighter as the Poogle's eyes were.

She put the stamp in her pocket and enjoyed the flight while thinking about the memories she will always keep from that day on Faerieland. She never had an adventure like that. The treasure that Hannah had found could not worth much but this adventure was worth a lot since she got a new neofriend. "And that's what really matters." Hannah thought smiling. "That's the most priceless treasure."

     The End.

Arthur: A Weapon's Tale: Part Three
It was an odd hour to be out in Happy Valley with few Neopians around. Art kept his head down, moving swiftly on the cold cobblestone path. The Snowager would be asleep any moment now and he would need all the time he could get. The path wound its way through town until pavement turned to ice.
