The Perfect Beach Vacation

by lefaii

--------

Summer is at its peak here in Neopia, the days are hot and the sun is shining, it's the perfect time to hit the beach and catch some rays! But what is the best way to go about doing this? There are so many options and different factors that play into how to have the maximum amount of fun this summer at the beach, but there aren't really many definitive guides on the best way to do it. Neopia is host to many different lands, and a lot of them have gorgeous shores that are perfect for laying out your beach towel and reading your favorite book while you enjoy the ocean breeze and warm sun. But where are the best places to go this summer?

Location, location, location, it's important to decide where you want to go! There are many beaches scattered around Neopia, some more impressive and sandy while others are basically a muddy shoreline surrounded by water. Ultimately it is up to you to decide which beach fits your fancy. There are lots of different aspects to the many beach locations, and there is a spot that will appeal to everyone. I wanted to take the time to detail out what each one offers so you can make the most informed decision on where to go this summer!!

Mystery Island

Mystery Island is one of the most popular destinations, hosting thousands of visitors every year. The tourist season really kicks off with Gadgadsbogen and stays consistent after that. It is a tropical location full of juicy fruits, sure to keep you cool and energized while you are doing some of the many available activities. There are a plethora of jungle treks, volcano hikes, and Tiki Tours that you could join in on. There is also a strong volleyball culture on the beach, if you aren't careful you might end up in a tournament! The cuisine, even beyond the fruit, is exquisite and world renowned. The massive amount of tourist attractions is the main contribution for the high tourist numbers, you'll never have a dull day. The downside is that it can be susceptible to overcrowding during high season and it may be hard to find a prime spot on the beach.

Krawk Island

Krawk Island is a bit of a culture shock for most Neopians. The lifestyle on the island is much different, having strong roots in piracy and swindling, that those coming from mainland locations aren't used to. While it is a much safer place these days, the stigma of the pirate times is still around. The island is mostly tall cliffs with sharp drop-offs, but there are a few beautiful white sand beaches. Krawk Island is the perfect place to come if you have a little extra money to play with, as there are some pricier restaurants like the Golden Dubloon and a few gambling opportunities. Even if you come without money, there is a chance that you'll come across some buried treasure!! So while it isn't as flashy and touristy as Mystery Island, it does have some beautiful vistas and potential treasures for you to discover, making it a good island alternative with less tourists.

Maraqua

If you go to the beach exclusively to have a nice swim and cool off in the ocean, maybe you should consider Maraqua. Maraqua is an underwater civilization that thrives deep in the sea. It has unique architecture, built out of things like giant clam shells and natural coral reefs, and features an amazing array of wildlife. You'll be walking, well, swimming, down the main road and see turtle-like Shoyru and tons of fishy Petpets swimming along with you. You'll also be able to see the ancient ruins of old Maraqua for an in-depth history lesson on this deep sea city.

Kiko Lake

Not usually thought of as a beach destination, Kiko Lake does in fact have sandy shores! The beach isn't sprawling so most people don't come to sunbathe, and the weather isn't as nice and tropical as it is elsewhere. But don't let that fool you, there are lots of things to keep you busy at Kiko Lake. This is the ideal situation for those who like casual boating, as the water never gets too rough and there is an excellent dock set up. The water here is also crystal clear so while you are riding around you can look straight down into the sea, there are even glass-bottom boat tours to help you see everything going on down at the bottom of the lake. When you are tired of the water, you can go hiking in the woods that surround the lake on all sides. Kiko Lake is known for its carpentry skills and woodworking, and most of the wood is taken from this ever-growing lush forest. There are beautiful hiking trails and lots of wildlife you'll be able to see within steps from the beach. A great way to get out of the sun for a day or two.

Roo Island

The last option on our list is the Blumaroo kingdom of Roo Island. The beach features an incredible boardwalk full of french fries and carnival-type games, souvenir shops and cotton candy stands. There is a TON to do here to keep you busy with a much more modern and familiar flair than Mystery Island has. It's all very built up and much more flashy than the other island paradises and feels much more like home. There are also various rivers running through the island so canoeing is a very popular activity here. To a degree it almost feels like a giant theme park with a beach. If that is more your speed than a tropical or underwater location, Roo Island is the place for you.

While there are other lands that feature beaches, like the giant sandy Lost Desert or the prehistoric Tyrannia, those beaches lie outside the main stretch of city and are much harder to access. The ones I've listed are all walking distance between the hotels and the water, making your vacation easier to relax on. But hey, everyone has their own tastes and I'm sure a few Neopians out there like to relax on the iceberg "beaches" at the base of Terror Mountain, to each their own!! I hope you enjoy your summer, wherever you decide to go, and wear lots of sunscreen to protect your skin!
