The Secrets of "High Tier" UC Trading

by faelyne

--------

Hello, greetings, and salutations! My name is Cat and I'll be teaching you all about the coveted secrets and sorcery of High Tier Unconverted (or UC) trading! You may know me from around the Pound Chat (PC) as one of the frequent Hosts of UC Shuffles and RW/RN Frenzy Shuffles. If you know of me, then you know I've seen a LOT of trades and short lists and have perhaps too much experience in seeing what generally will trade for what across all tiers. But today, I want to share all my secrets about how to get what you want out of the elusive and difficult to navigate Tier 9.

With the craze of Unconverted Neopets becoming available via the NC Mall in the impending future, Unconverted trading has turned into a warzone. Four-letter pets that have pronounceable names are, now, trading into the Mid-Tier Unconverted range, and Real Word and Real Name Neopets are now trading EASILY into the Higher Tiers range. This has left a lot of traders that are not accustomed to being in the Higher Tiers quite lost with what they should be expecting, and has left a lot of unanswered questions regarding what they should ideally be looking for.

The reason for this is the Unspoken Secret Tiers Within the High Tiers of Unconverted Neopets. We all know Tier 9 is the most confusing Tier to navigate in order to achieve that elusive Unconverted dream pet, and the easiest (read: FASTEST) way to get there, as we all know, is through Real Name and Real Word trading, due to how subjective Names can be!

So, say that you've just acquired (or have been hoarding for just this moment) a quite common, pronounceable Real Word or Real Name Neopet... Where do you go from here to get your High-Tier Unconverted Dream Pet?

The Answer?... The dreaded, notorious, infamous... Hidden Tiers. *Screams of terror echo in the distance!*

Currently, the Tier 9 Line Up consists of the more sought-after Unconverted Plushies and overly popular, gorgeous Unconverted Royals. The following four Subtier LineUps for Tier 9 are my personal observations from hosting countless UC Shuffles at all times of the day and night, as well as, my personal trading experiences throughout Tier 9 for the past year.

REMINDER: These Tiers are ALWAYS subjective! Nothing is a guarantee and always find out what someone is seeking. Tier Guides are not law and never set in stone!

     --SUBTIERS OF TIER 9--

Subtier 9-1 (the lower-valued set): these are the pets that do not trade well amongst other Tier 9 UCs, no matter how well named they are.

      Plushie Chia

      Plushie Grarrl

      Plushie Jubjub

      Plushie Korbat

      Plushie Lenny

      Plushie Quiggle

Subtier 9-2: these are typically easy to climb with, depending on their name format.

      Plushie Elephante

      Plushie Uni

      Plushie Yurble

      Plushie Blumaroo

      Royalboy Acara

      Royalgirl Draik

      Plushie Krawk

      Royalboy Shoyru

Subtier 9-3: these pets are usually pretty popular and trade well depending on what the trader is seeking, but rarely ever trade up.

      Plushie Aisha

      Plushie Gelert

      Plushie Lupe

      Plushie Wocky

      Royalgirl Aisha

      Royalboy Cybunny

      Royalboy Draik

      Royalgirl Shoyru

Subtier 9-4: these pets are the cream of the crop in Tier 9, are able to trade for any other Tier 9 (generally speaking), and can, at times, trade into the more popular end of Tier 10.

      Plushie Bori

      Darigan Draik

      Faerie Techo

      Plushie Draik

      Plushie Hissi

      Plushie Ixi

      Royalgirl Cybunny

      Royalgirl Korbat

      Royalgirl Lupe

What will trade into Tier 10?

The answer is kind of complicated... It depends on what type of Tier 10 you're going for. You see, generally speaking, there are two different typings for Tier 10 UCs. One consists of all the Plushies, and the other is essentially everything else. However, please keep in mind, these two Typings are COMPLETELY name-format dependant and assume that the name is V/WN. Some DN and ALL BN Tier 10s will USUALLY easily trade for any Tier 9.

Type A: easy to trade back and forth into most of higher-subtier Tier 9.

      Plushie Gnorbu

      Plushie Kyrii

      Plushie Moehog

      Plushie Nimmo

      Plushie Peophin

      Plushie Usul

Type B: the Pound Chat's Most Wanted, hard to get even with Subtier 9-4.

      Darigan Wocky

      Royalgirl Grarrl

      Royalboy Kau

To trade from Tier 9 into Tier 10 Type A using UCs, you'll need at the least a Well Named (WN) or cute Decently Named UC. Now, well named can be kind of subjective, but, generally speaking, well named pets are pronounceable, roughly about 8 to 10 letters long, and formatted as Xxxxx. Cute Decently Named UCs are typically a little longer or compound words, and may have one or two underscores, such as formats XxxxXxxxx or Xxxxx_Xxxxxx. It may take a little longer to find a trade, but stick to it and stay confident!

However, contrary to the aforementioned tip, to trade into Tier 10 Type B, you'll need a Very Well Named High-Subtier 9 UC. The less letters, the easier it will be. I've found that T9-4 Royals usually trade easiest into Tier 10-B, and Tier 10-A almost never trades into Tier 10-B. But you never know what someone may like! Always, ALWAYS try your luck and never be afraid to ask questions! The PC is a pretty easy place to ask for advice, as you can almost always find a Accept or Reject (A/R) thread running, asking for advice on whether they should take an offer for their pet or not.

Overall, I genuinely hope this guide has been helpful and can maybe clear up some of the confusion about the secrets of High-Tier trading. If you ever have questions or need advice on a trade that you aren't sure of, the PC will always lend a hand, and I'm always open to Neomails!

     REMINDERS:

Trade for what makes you happy. The end goal is finding a pet to love, pamper, and adore.

Neopets aren't just pixels. They're nostalgia!

If names don't bother you, you'll definitely have an easier time climbing tiers.

The worst someone can say is, "No."

"No," is just another chance to find an even better trade. ♥

If you're getting overwhelmed or frustrated with all the rejection that comes with trying to obtain something you love, PLEASE take a break from advertising! Bumping can wear down your patience and sanity. It can be much easier to just hang out with some friends or make a joint-board, or perhaps even join in on shuffles or try hosting a shuffle yourself!

Good luck to everyone! Don't forget we're here to have fun and enjoy ourselves!
