Faerie Free Time

by psychosomatical

--------

The Faeries of Neopia, whether bottled or unique, have been considered rare in Neopia from the beginning. So rare, in fact, that not much is known to Neopians about what Faeries do outside of their regular quests, blessings, and duties. As a loyal Faerie Enthusiast and Researcher, my team and I have interviewed many famous Faeries throughout Neopia, and have found that Faerie lives are much more rich and full of wonders than we might have imagined.

So, what *do* the Faeries do in their free time?

We've travelled from the tops of Terror Mountain to the Peak of Faerieland and beyond the Space Station to answer these questions. After several extensive interviews, we are glad to say that we know more about Faeries than ever before.

Here's a sneak peek into a few Faeries' lives...

     - Taelia, the Snow Faerie, has said that she often finds herself travelling to Neopia Central and visiting the General Store for some Coffee and Marshmallows. Since it's so cold in Terror Mountain, she keeps herself stocked up on warm drinks in the freezing weather. As Taelia said to us reporters: "There must be a balance with all things - especially a balance between the cold of these mountain peaks, and the warmth of my favourite coffee." It's a wonder to us how she remains cold despite her large, fuzzy jacket. Taelia also lamented that the Coffee Cafe moved to Roo Island, where she doesn't visit frequently due to the sweltering heat.

     - Mira, the Space Faerie, enjoys visiting Neopians across all lands. With the power of space-shifting movements, she is able to visit seemingly anywhere that she wants across Neopia at any time. It seems to us that she can teleport, rewarding Neopians that explore as she does. However, she secretly hinted at a predilection to the Virtupets Space Station, where we can assume she keeps a watchful eye on the plans of evil Dr. Sloth... Mira assured us there was nothing to worry about, but the glimmer in her eye was unmistakable. In either case - beware the Evil Dr. Sloth!

     - Although you might expect Aethia, the Battle Faerie, to spend all her time in the Battledome, she enjoys going to Mystery Island and relaxing by the beach. After a long day of working hard, her guilty pleasure is to soothe her muscles with a nice long nap under the sun. Aethia insisted during our interview that she is not afraid to admit this guilty pleasure of hers, and encourages Neopets to remember that it is important to spend time relaxing after a long day of battle. We couldn't agree more, as we've all seen our exhausted Neopets after a day at the Training School.

     - On Mystery Island, the cooking pot of Jhuidah is always bubbling. Many think that she doesn't leave the Island ever since the Volcano Plot, where she went missing. Instead, Jhuidah stated that this experience left her more interested in exploring the lands than ever! In her free time, Jhuidah visits the kind Soup Faerie in order to perfect her recipes. They often exchange gifts, with both of them cooking up something special for the other - both out of kindness, and because they are both constantly looking for improvement in their cooking skills.

     - Illusen and Jhudora are known to be spiteful of one another - however, this dueling duo has been seen at least one day a week at the Poogle Races together in Faerieland. Their rivalry runs deep - so much so that they are not known to stay in the same room together for long before a verbal battle ensures. Regardless of this, the two hold weekly competitions on who wins the most bets at the races. We heard from an outside source that the loser has to drink ten cans of Chocolate and Asparagus Achyfi as punishment... Yuk!

     - It was difficult to find her amidst the rain, but the gloomiest faerie of all - the Grey Faerie - reluctantly accepted an interview from us Faerie Enthusiasts. Though most of her time is spent brooding and upset, she did admit to having a sweet tooth! It seems like the rain follows her around, all the way to the Neopian Bazaar, where she makes several stops at the Bakery. With a rare smile on her face, the Grey Faerie told us that her favourite treats are always stocked there - from Doughnuts to Cookies to Cupcakes. We were happy to see that even the Grey Faerie can enjoy a smile with her favourite treats on hand.

     - Last, but certainly not least, Fyora, our most elegant and beloved Faerie Queen, is not often known to leave the Hidden Tower, much less participate in any debauchery or "uncouth" activity. Fyora is known not only for her kindness, but also for her pristine and elegant presentation and nature. Despite all this, Neopians have reported seeing Fyora at the Haunted Woods at night after most have gone to bed. They claim that she spends time in Edna's Tower, with strange lights coming from the tower windows, and some even claim to have seen her knocking down Coconuts at the Deserted Fairground. Whether this is true or not is yet to be confirmed, but it makes for some very juicy news regarding our pristine Queen of Faerieland!

Though we have studied and worked with Faeries for a long time, they continue to break through and exceed any expectations that we've had for them. Learning more about Faeries is considered integral for Neopians and Faeries alike. Even with our differences, we Neopians are similar to Faeries in the way that we spend our free time. After all, who *hasn't* played a game of Coconut Shy in the late hours of night? We can hardly fault any Faerie for enjoying themselves - in fact, we encourage it!

We will continue to interview Faeries and find out more about their lives as dedicated Faerie Enthusiasts and Researchers. Until next time, and may your days be filled with blessings from across the land!
