The Ultimate Guide To Collecting And Galleries

by singer1014

--------

So, you have made your gallery, but you don’t know what to do with it after that. At first, you were all excited until you found out that you had no ideas and that you hadn’t really planned anything out for the gallery. Well, you came to the right place! If you are not sure if you want to create a gallery, here are the pros and cons when having a gallery. If you are sure that you want to create a gallery, skip the pros and cons list.

Pros:

-More people will appreciate you.

-It’s really fun.

-The choices are mostly up to you and they’re various (you like having power, don’t you?).

-It keeps you from getting bored.

-It can become a favorite hobby.

Cons:

-Upgrading your gallery in order to put more items into it (every 5+ there is another upgrade).

-Buying MAY get costly, depending on what item/s you want in your new gallery.

There are tons of ideas flying around Neopia, waiting to be discovered; all you have to do is reach for them! I have laid out five categories to help you get started in collecting and maintaining a great gallery!

1. Ideas – What Things to Collect:

Lucky for you, I’ve got a mass of ideas floating around my head, so I will share with you as many as I can remember! Also, you don’t have to read all of them; just browse and find the one that catches your eye the most! Or just read through all of them, if you prefer (that would make me very happy). Okay, enough sappy talk. Let’s get down to the ideas:

Jelly – A lot of people collect jelly! You know, jelly related items and jelly the food in general! You could name it Jelly World, Jelly Land, Jelly Universe, whatever that seems to grab people’s attention when they see the name! And you could choose a gallery keeper that is made of jelly.

Plushies – Collect plushies! Most are cheap and yet, they are awesome things to be put into a gallery! It could be named Plushie Galore, Plushie Planet, Plush Palace, anything really! Also it’d be even more creative if you had a gallery keeper that was painted plushie. There are loads of them, so pick your favorite!

Keyrings – This is a very popular thing to collect because they are cheap and comical! You could collect keyrings! If this idea doesn’t interest you, then continue on. Some ideas for names could be: Keyring Korner, Keyring Kadoodles, Keyring Land, etc.

Usuki Dolls – These, however, can be costly at times but if you are a rich Neopian and you don’t care on how much you spend, this may be the item for you to collect! Usuki Dolls are cute, little things, and galleries with them are just adored!

Petpets – This is another expensive situation, but if you really, REALLY want a petpet gallery and you don’t mind spending some of your neopoints, go ahead and start buying! But remember: to collect is to get and not to spend. Not ALL the time it is, but sometimes it is good to buy some for your gallery.

Any Food Related Items – Yes, people do it all the time! Like carrots, peas, dairy products, omelettes (a cheap solution), or all poisonous foods (mostly from Jhudora)! It’s very creative and sometimes original if you get a food that no one in Neopia has ever used for their collection gallery! Think hard, my friend, think hard.

Neggs – There are very few Negg Galleries existing in today’s Neopian world. True, they are expensive, but if you’re rich and this idea appeals to you, why don’t you try it out? False, they are not awesome for galleries. They are absolutely SO awesome! Why? People know how expensive neggs can be and when they see the best of the best in your gallery, they will appreciate it! Who knows? Ask for comments and they might start pouring in. Also some good names could be: Negg Neopia, The Neggery, or The Negg Nutcase!

Junk – Junk galleries can be anything that is considered junk! This is a very easy way to make an awesome gallery because it is cheap, creative, and lots of people have them! If you want something more original, then do not consider this because lots of people have junk galleries. Some great names are: My Junkyard, The Junk Trunk, Junk Havoc, or My Messy Room!

Sand – A cheap, cool item to start collecting! They come in many different colors and even rainbow! You could make the gallery keeper a coconut JubJub and the layout could be Mystery Island themed! Some good names could be The Sand Beach, Everything Sand, Sand Globe, etc.

Certain Colored Items – Like a pink collection, rainbow collection, green collection, etc.! Let the inventive juices flow! Look around you. What color appeals to you the most? And then collect items of that color, if you like.

Multi – It could be red items and neggs or plushies and keyrings, use your imagination! It could also be triple: books, pink items, and clothing. Those are one-of-a-kind galleries and most are considered, ‘My Stuff’ galleries or ‘My Junk’ galleries.

Favorite Things – Put all of your favorite, most treasured items into your gallery and it could be your, ‘My Favorite Things’ gallery.

2. The Description

Do you think the description in a gallery is important? Of course it is! Here are some handy tips on writing your gallery’s description!

Make it Brief and On Topic – What if you go on talking about something else besides your gallery? This can happen! It is called losing your focus and it will make the description long and dull! Your description must be brief, on topic, and enjoyable. To make it more interesting, add some nifty words into it to enlighten the description! And what would brief be? It could be two or three paragraphs and no more!

3. Starting Out On The New Collection:

The easiest way to start with your collection is to go to the shop ads boards and browse other people’s shops. Or you could create a topic saying that you need a certain item and people will post their shops (remember that not all Neopians read your message, so don’t be disappointed if they don’t have what you want).

4. Organizing Your Gallery:

After your inventory is half full of gallery items, transfer them all to your gallery. Now you have two choices: is to put all of your items in one category or separate them into different categories. Either way is fine.

5. Show the World!

Would you like to show Neopia your new and acclaimed gallery? Here are a few ways you could do so:

Make buttons or banners – You could make some banners, buttons, or both and put them in your lookup, your shop, your petpages, and even tell your neofriends about it! But if you’re not much of a techy, graphics, html person, you could do another thing, so continue to read!

The Galleries Board – If you go down the board categories, you will find a board that says, ‘Spotlights and Galleries’. Click it and create a new topic (with a copy of your gallery link) and tell others about your gallery!

Important Topics to Remember:

Description must be brief and on topic.

Collecting is getting (sometimes randomly) and not always buying.

The shop ads boards work great when buying new items for your gallery!

And lastly, now that you have a really great gallery, you can show it to the world and be proud of yourself.
