Ten Things We Don't Know About Cap'n Threelegs

by kylacz

--------

Who is Cap’n Threelegs? How much do we know about him? Many Neopians always wonder the same thing. Though he may not be that popular, he is still known for giving out free training to pets who are celebrating their species on that particular day.

This is why I decided to interview this mysterious three-legged Neopian. I traveled to Krawk Island and brought my Yellow Star Notebook and my pen with me. I went inside his Swashbuckling Academy. I slowly opened the wooden door just in time to see him finish training a rather tired blue Lupe.

Cap'n Threelegs says 'Aye, I could murder a Hot Dog right now!'

I did not understand the meaning of his quote. Why torture such a tasty snack food? “Uh, could I, perhaps, interview you mister.. er... Captain Threelegs?” I said.

“Arr! Why didn’t ya say so? Cap’n loves to get interviewed. What do ye want to know about meself?” he said in a shrill pirate voice.

“Mostly everything.”

* * *

After a hard day's work, I read my notes on the interview with the famous Captain Threelegs. I sat down and read aloud. Trying to edit some of the pirate words I wrote down.

'Ten things most of us don’t know about Cap’n Threelegs:'

1. His nickname is Lefty.

Cap'n Threelegs, or just Lefty for short. This is what pirates in the food club and in the Golden Dubloon call him. His nickname may be Lefty, but this ol' captain can sniff fear a mile away. He does not want to be called Lefty, though. Unless you are a famous pirate with a trophy in the Krawk Island Armada. So just call him Cap’n for now.

2. He loves collecting dubloons.

Still wondering what he does with his dubloons? He doesn't sell them in a store, he collects 'em! He also says he has over a thousand dubloons on his hands. We still don't know where he keeps them, though. Where does he live anyway?

3. He loves them smoothies.

Yes, he loves smoothies. He calls it his 'Guilty Pleasure'. This is the only thing that makes him happy after losing in another Buried Treasure game. His favorite flavour is the Large Salmon Sherbert Smoothie or a Churro Smoothie. I have to admit, those are delicious choices.

4. His favorite game is Dubloon Disaster.

He loves playing this game especially when he has free time on his wings. If only it was a lot harder, he says. He also says playing Dubloon Disaster was the only way he could exercise other than training pets in the academy. He says he was taught how to play that game since he was just a little Scaliwag. Unlike other Neopians, he actually enjoys playing that game.

5. He always ‘hangs out’ at the Food Club.

Think he just stays in his academy all day? He also likes to bet on Scurvy Dan the Blade or Orvinn the First Mate on every match. Winning in the Food Club is how he has the Neopoints to play the Buried Treasure game. He says he was once a pirate in the Food Club as well. He says he always wins. He also loves to meet new pirates. He says he is also very popular there.

6. He says he lost his leg from a “Krawk Incident”.

He also has a story to prove it. The story says that the captain got into the giant Krawk's mouth and lost his right fore leg there. He calls it 'The Largest Krawk I'd ever seen'. He also says it was fifty feet long. Oh really? Nah, nobody in the whole island believes him. Some say he lost his mind. Some just say there was no truth in his story. Some even say he's just embarrassed to tell the truth. There's a rumor that the Cap'n lost his leg from a Tombola accident. Some say he's just really really clumsy.

7. He's never won in a Buried Treasure game.

This skilled trainer never won a Buried Treasure game. He says he lost a fortune from that game. He believes that the game is 'rigged'. I explained to him that many have won that game, and even won an avatar in return. He doesn't believe me, actually. Until now, he's still trying his luck there.

8. He likes Pirakets.

This three-legged Eyrie likes Pirakets. This is the only petpet who keeps him company. This is the only thing he used his dubloons for. He only spent his dubloons once, on a Piraket. A piraket is the only family he has left, he says. He also said that the little nipper can help him in his training academy. Nobody knows why, actually.

9. He idolizes the famous Captain Crossblades.

His hero in life is good ol’ Captain Crossblades. He told me he idolizes him because he was a great leader towards his pirate crew and always found the buried treasures hidden in different places in Neopia. Yes, Captain Crossblades, that pirate Bruce who punched a Jetsam right in the nose. He dedicates Captain Crossblades every time a Neopet finishes his or her training. He dreams of training the most powerful Neopet of all time.

10. He has won over ten trophies in the Story Telling Competition.

Believe it or not, he's a master genius in story telling. He is also famous for telling the stories over and over again. Nobody really knows if his stories are true; either way, he makes great stories. Stories from past experiences he had to overreaching pirate ship stories. He sure does love stories. He may be a story teller, but he is just not a story listener. Tell him a story and he’ll just yawn his way out the front door.

I stopped reading aloud. I just noticed it was already dark outside. I wrote down a few more sentences.

Still think he’s just a three-legged Eyrie who trains in the Swashbuckling Academy and is good in telling stories? Think again!

Why not visit him and listen to what he has to say? We could all learn from him. Well, maybe. Is he good? Or is he just really cranky sometimes?

There are still plenty of things we don’t know about this pirate. Plenty of things.
