Appetizing Mutant Recipes

Ah, the delights of Transmogrification... No, I make no attempts to disguise my reverence for mastermind Dr. Francis Q. Sloth whose genius and curiosity have pushed him to probe beyond the common frontiers known to the average Neopian. Among his many praise-worthy breakthroughs, I am incredibly fond of his discoveries in the fields of mutation, which have not only led to the fruition of a new colour for Neopets, but have also expanded the scopes of culinary. I am certain that the extraordinary Chef Bonju, the generous Soup Faerie, and Neopian cooks everywhere are craving for Mutant-inspired recipes for personal enjoyment or to share with their transmogrified pets (for what Neopian would want his cute little Mutant on an empty stomach, right?).

Well, consider yourself lucky and your search over because in this article, I, Emma, and my sous-chef, Susie, will share the most appetizing dishes we have mastered during our career as cooks.

Bite-sized Mutant Apple Pies

Makes: 12 Pies

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

• 12 Cinnamon Dough Bundles
• 1/4 (1 lb) Bag of Sugar
• 4 Mutant Apples
• 1/4 Stick of Butter

Description:

These Mutant Apple pies will bring a smile to your mutant’s face! They are a puff of pastry with two slices of sautéed apples emerging from opposite sides like faerie wings. The spice of cinnamon mixed with the warm apples will bring back memories of cold winters around the fireplace. And, best of all, each scrumptious puff can be eaten in one bite. Yum!

Procedure:

Using a small knife, carve out the center of each Cinnamon Dough Bundle. Insert the knife, then gently slide it in a circle resulting in a cone-shaped hole.

Cut each mutant apple into six slices, resulting in a total of twenty four. Melt a few slabs of butter in a skillet over a medium flame. Add apples and stir for five minutes, making sure to flip the apple slices. Add the quarter of the Bag of Sugar, raise the heat slightly, and continue to stir for a few more minutes.

Remove and strain apples. Place two slices in each Cinnamon Dough Bundle, both slices curving out in opposite directions. Serve immediately.

Slime-Flavored Mutant Ice Cream

Makes: One quart

Prep Time: 30 Minutes (Wait about 8 hours to refrigerate)

Ingredients:

• 1 (1lb) Bag of Sugar
• 2 (16 ounce) Mutant Milkshakes
• 4 Cups-O-Slime

Description:

Who said the secrets of ice cream making were not to be shared with Mutant Neopets? Well, this slimy concoction is the best cold mouthful to satisfy your Mutants’ appetites during these last summer days and get them craving for more, scoop after scoop.

Procedure:

Over low heat, pour one Cup-O-Slime and one and a half cups of sugar into a medium sized sauce pan. Swirl the mixture until all the sugar melts. Turn off the heat and wait until it cools down to room temperature, stirring every two minutes so it does not solidify.

Add the two Mutant Milkshakes, the remaining two and a half Cups-O-Slime, and the mixture to a blender, beating until all the ingredients are fully incorporated. Pour the concoction into a covered bowl and put into a freezer until it reaches a gooey consistency.

Cream of Mutant Asparagus Soup

Makes: Four servings

Prep Time: 70 minutes

Ingredients:

• 2 (1 lb) Mutant Asparagus
• 1 Snotty Vira Onion
• 1/2 Stick of Butter
• 3 Chicken Dumpling Soups
• 1 Mutant Milkshake

Description:

This thick, creamy soup is the perfect way to get your daily serving of vegetables. It tastes delicious, and by the time the words “more, please” are spilling out of your green lips, you will have forgotten you ever dreaded vegetables! We guarantee you there is no better way to introduce those precious veggies into young Mutants' diet.

Procedure:

Chop up the Mutant Asparagus into tiny pieces and set them aside in a small bowl.

Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat with the onions and sauté them for five minutes. Add asparagus and continue to cook for five more minutes. Add all of the soup and lower the heat. Allow the ingredients to sit over a low flame for twenty to thirty minutes.

Remove pot from heat and puree the contents in a blender until smooth. Pour the mixture back into the original pot and add the Mutant Milkshake, stirring until fully incorporated. Serve hot.

Garlic Cheese Toast à la Mutant

Makes: 4 Slices

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Bake Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• 4 Slices of Mutant Toast
• 1 Garlic Bud
• Sprinkling of Salt
• Sprinkling of Black Pepper
• 1 Flask of Olive Oil
• 1 Stick of Butter
• Wedges of cheese of your preference *

• Fishy Cheese
• Warty Blue Cheese
• Mouldy Cheese

Description:

This cheese-filled dish is perfect for any owner who wants their Mutant pets to have a diet rich in calcium to grow those healthy extra limbs. Moreover, a versatile recipe, the Toast à la Mutant grants freedom to any budding cook dwelling in the fields of Mutant Haute Cuisine.

Procedure:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Peel six garlic cloves and mince four of them to small bits. Cut the remaining cloves in half and rub them to the toast.

Add a Stick of Butter to a saucepan on low flame. Wait until the perfect spot, where the butter is softened but not molten, and pour a tablespoon of Olive Oil. Mix with the minced garlic and sprinkles of Salt and Black Pepper, according to taste.

Evenly spread the mixture on the Mutant Toast slices. Grind the cheese of your choice over the slices; here you can explore the recipe and have some fun by experimenting with the different flavors, fusing your cheese favorites and creating exotic combinations. In case you are not sure, we suggest you try our personal favorite, a mixed layer of Fishy and Warty Blue Cheese over a layer of Mutated Cheese.

Put on a pan and bake for 5 minutes.
