How to be a Grey-t Friend!

by schadenfreudee

--------

In honor of Grey Day, here’s a few special things you could do for the grey pet in your life to show them just how much you appreciate them!

1. No Sad Commentary

The golden rule, err, grey rule? Never comment on a grey pet’s sad appearance! Grey pets are well aware that they look a little less than cheery on a day to day basis. There really is no need to bring the subject up unless you’re hoping to hurt someone’s feelings! If you feel the great need to say something about the way they look, maybe take a look at the new hat or scarf they have instead. Tell them how nice it looks on them.

2. Take Them Out for Some Frozen Fun

With spring now in full swing, ice cream is the perfect treat! It doesn’t matter if you go to Neopian Fresh Foods in Neopia for a cone or travel all the way to Happy Valley for a slushie so long as your friend is having a blast. As you’re treating them, be sure not to be too stingy with your neopoints, but know that you can get great deals on some really yummy flavors! In other words, don't settle for a cheap-o Dung Slushie when you can get a nice Sour Lemon for the same price. Plus, it’s always a good, fun memory to see who can make the best sour face!

3. Three Words: Merry Go Round!

A nice trip to Roo Island is ALWAYS a great idea, but especially now that the weather is so nice. What better way to spend a day that early morning coffee at the Coffee Shop, a few rounds on the Merry Go Round, and an evening of listening to some poetry or storytelling? If you’ve got a couple extra neopoints lying around, Dice-A-Roo is a great, friendly game to play with any friend and the possible prizes are more than appetizing! If your friend has a slightly spooky side, they might even like catching a game of Deadly Dice if you can make it in time. Don’t forget to grab a nice souvenir from the Souvenir Shop on your way out, and you can call it a day!

4. Stop and Smell the Flowers

Spring being in full bloom means that flowers are ALSO in full bloom! Meridell would be a picture perfect day trip if you’re hoping to see nature in all of its glory! Illusen would be more than happy to show you around if you make a stop by her Glade and help her out with something! There’s also lots of fun to be had in Meridell besides just casual sight-seeing. If you’re into gambling away some neopoints with your pal, you can choose from Round Table Poker, Turdle Racing, or Kiss the Mortog. If you decide to venture into the castle (highly recommended!), you can even tack Double or Nothing onto your betting adventures, although there’s something a little sketchy about that Skeith.

5. When in Doubt, Beach it Out

Although it’s not quite summer yet, the beach is always a fun luxury. In fact, all the better that it’s not summer because the beaches won’t be filled with your loud-mouth Neopets - and you know exactly the kind I’m talking about. For beaches, you’ve got your pick of Krawk Island or Mystery Island. Both shores have their perks. It’s all up to you and your friend to decide, and remember, this day IS about your friend, so you should definitely factor them into your choosing. If you’re aching for something a little hardier with some pirate lingo, Krawk Island is a fun time. Just make sure you’ve got a couple Dubloons on you as that’s their main form of currency. You can even snag some very profitable items while you’re there, if that catches your fancy! Just beware of large black signs that say Keep Out….they mean it! Otherwise, Mystery Island is your go-to beach! It’s definitely got a more Summer-y, beachy vibe to it. The natives there are no pirates, but they’re also an acquired taste. They’ve got a real thing for sand, but maybe you do too! A good recommendation is spending the night before looking through your things and picking out a few knick knacks you no longer like, bringing them to Mystery Island, and hitting up the Trading Post. Who knows what you and your friend might manage to trade? Even if you don’t make a major profit, it’s a really fun bonding opportunity and one Neopian’s trash is another’s treasure. It’s all in what you make of it!

6. Happy Haunts

Maybe none of things are appealing to your friend, and it IS their day. Maybe what they’re into is the spooky, the creepy, or even the gross! Your best bet is to head on over to the Haunted Woods! The Deserted Fairground is the best place to spend a day (or night!) with your haunted pal. There are several different games to pique your interest there. It’s hard to turn down a game of Bagatelle or Coconut Shy even though you might have an inkling that they’re rigged. Cork Gun Gallery is a fun, competitive game, but has nothing on Test Your Strength which you and your friend can alternate doing to see who really is the strongest! You’ll have as many laughs as you do frights spending the night here. If you’re brave enough to chance the Wheel of Misfortune, go on and give it a spin! Dare each other to buy the strangest Spooky Food from the scary little cart. First one to spit out an eyeball or make a face has to buy the other a scratch card from the strange Sssidney who works the scratch card booth. Sure you’ll leave with a much lighter pocket, but it’s worth it for the amount of fun you’re destined to have!

There are dozens of other choices to choose from! What matters is that you put some effort and heart into making this day a day to remember. Whatever your friend likes is what you should try and appeal to! Maybe they don’t even want to go out and would much rather spend the day making arts and crafts in your home. That’s fine, too! From Faerieland to Tyrannia to the backyard, you can really test your creativity to have a fun filled day. Keep in mind your friends interests and how much you’re willing to spend. There’s something great to do for every price range! Have a grey-t day!

“Got anything to eat around here?” I said to the sound of my stomach rumbling. Honestly, after seeing the rotting furniture, I was afraid to ask. “Yeah, but you’ll have to stick by me,” the White Kougra said. “You don’t have clearance there yet.”

Venn and the Isolated Island: Part Two
The weather became increasingly stormy. The ship's path was one that passed through the outside of the massive storm surrounding Lutari Island; few ships took this course. The whole reason Lana went on this trip, aside from acting as the ship's engine mechanic, was to study the mysterious storm, for she wanted to someday visit it.
