Crafting With Delina by auraphic
--------
Delina, also known as the Crafting Faerie, is one of the many different Faeries lurking through Neopia. She spends her days crafting up beautiful clothing creations in her small workshop, popping up randomly to Neopians for materials. She is actually a type of Dark Faerie, who are typically evil and cruel. However, she is one of the few kindhearted ones! She is unusually friendly, and is rarely seen without an inviting smile on her face. Perhaps this is how she lures in innocent Neopians to buy her materials for her, but if that is the worst she's doing then I suppose we can't complain. Especially when you look at the mass destruction from other Dark Faeries, specifically the Darkest Faerie, who have brought chaos down upon the world.Delina shows up in random events, requesting two different materials that she will combine to make a beautiful wearable for your Neopet. These items can be found at the Faerie Quest NC Mall shop for a reasonable price. The price is all the more reasonable when you consider the fashion appeal of the rewards, such as colorful hairpieces like the Chalk-Dyed Curls Wig, or fabulous clothing items like the over-the-top intricate Fringed Fabric Cardigan. You can tell by the rewards that Delina is very well-versed in her skills and has an eye for designing unlike anyone else. Just imagine the amount of times it would take a normal Neopian like you or me to put together the Mosaic Bead Wings, it's more than worth it to help Delina with her quests. At one point, Delina's workshop was open to all. You could stroll in and request a mission from her and walk out with a lovely, shiny reward for all your hard work. This was a very limited time offer; Delina started to get bogged down with the insane workload and the amount of Neopians cruising in, demanding these hard-to-make pieces. Still, there are a few ways you can increase your chances of getting to work with the greatest crafter of all time. The first is to purchase a Faerie Quest Cookie. A Faerie Quest Cookie is an item that will guarantee you to receive a Faerie quest each day for nine days, but it is not guaranteed this quest will be from Delina. However, it does increase your chances significantly! If you want to go a step further, make sure to participate in the Battleground of the Obelisk. One of the reward boons, "Refreshed Quest Request", allows you to swap out the quest you've received from a Faerie for one with a new Faerie. Again, not guaranteed to give you a Delina quest, but it will improve your chances. It seems we've been able to cover quite a bit of background on this diligent crafter, but I wanted to get even further past the surface of of her and who she is. I was able to maneuver around all the spools of thread and yards of fabric to be able to chat with Delina herself! I prepared a few questions for her to try and get the real scoop on how she designs her excellent outfits. Interviewer- Thanks for sitting down with me today, Delina. The masses are dying to know more of your secrets! What are the hottest trends right now? Delina- Thank you for having me! Lately, I've been hard at work making wintery and Valentine's Day clothing for the NC mall! A lot of people may not realize it, but I'm responsible for a lot more than just what I hand out as quest rewards. Interviewer- That explains why you had to close down your workshop, you've been doing a lot more wholesale work. Delina- Exactly. I used to just freelance a lot, using the supplies people brought me and living solely off that. Now, I work full time sewing blouses, creating drapes for foregrounds, and getting all the plushie wearables stitched just right. I still love to freelance, I love taking a client's items and turning them into a unique outfit, but I don't have as much time as I used to. That is why I pick and choose and it's a bit more rare to find me. Interviewer- Wow, it's great that you still find time to do the work you love. What is your favorite piece that you've been working on? Delina- Crafting is my greatest passion! For my favorite piece right now...hmm...it's a toss up between the Chalk-Dyed Chiffon Shirt and the Lit Fabric Flowers Foreground. The chiffon shirt is just so fun to make! First, you take chalk paints and create a colorful swirling pool, then you dip the chiffon fabric into it to create a pattern of whirling colors. The flowery foreground has also been a seasonal favorite for me because I love flowers and adore the spring season, it's reminding me that better weather is just around the corner and gives me something to look forward to. Interviewer- I do love those fabric flowers, they have such a pretty red glow to them. You do incredible work, I can't praise you enough! Delina- *giggles* Thank you! I try my hardest to make the most gorgeous accessories possible. I really couldn't do it without the help of Neopians though, the items they bring give me such inspiration. Even items as simple as Dye Bottles filled with different paints combined with a Jar of Cotton can be turned into Delicate Dyed Cotton Wings, those were a favorite among the NC Mall Neoboards! With a little ingenuity and the right mindset, anything can be turned into something stylish and fashionable. Interviewer- Wow, you really are impressive. It's no wonder you've earned your title as the top crafting Faerie. Sadly, we're out of time for this interview, and I need to let you get back to work anyway. Do you have anything else you'd like to add before we wrap up? Delina- It was great sitting down with you and being able to chat about my career. I'd like to say to everyone who has a dream or who has a passion to pursue it. When I first started crafting I could barely thread a needle, but with nonstop practice and my stubborn will to succeed I was able to break down the barrier and grow. Every day is a learning experience, and every day I learn a new technique or learn how to utilize a new material. It's important to constantly challenge yourself, to work harder than you did the day before, because that is how you truly succeed.
