Raiders of Maraqua Game Guide

by yashasvika

--------

In Raiders of Maraqua, you play as Karpoh the Koi. Karpoh is a young Neopet that’s just trying to impress his pirate bosses by going to the Maraquan ruins to scavenge for lost treasure. He thought that he’d be able to take Maraqua’s treasure without any issues. Little did he know that enemies were scattered through the ruins! The goal of the game is to push all the treasure into the treasure chests so the pirates can take it up to their ships.

Controls: You move Karpoh through the level with the arrow keys and use the space bar to push things. You can trap those pesky enemies by pushing bubbles into them. But be careful, if you get to close to an enemy, he’ll gobble you up causing you to lose a life.

Parts of the Game:

Bubbles: There are 2 types of bubbles in the game. There are the light blue bubbles which can be moved in all 4 directions and will pop when pushed against a wall or another object. The second are the dark blue bubbles which, like the light blue bubbles, can move in all directions. However these bubbles can only be popped by rocks.

Rocks: Another obstacle in the game are rocks, these are movable objects that will destroy all enemies and bubbles in their path. Rocks can be stopped by the treasure pieces and the edge of the level.

Treasure: There are three types of treasure in the game. There are small gold pieces that are worth 5 points, and two pieces of bigger gold or blue pieces which award 5 points when pushed into the treasure chest.

Other items: Two very beneficial items are the red cross and transparent bubbles. The red cross gains you an extra life, while the bubbles, unlike the regular light and dark blue bubbles, only appear after killing an enemy. These bubbles are worth 5 times the level you are in and can be used to your advantage when trying to gain extra points towards the avatar or trophy.

Note:: To gain an extra life type 1morekarpohplease. This can only be used once per game and only if your life meter is below 4 lives. HOWEVER if you get a red cross you can have more than four lives!

Playing the game: So now that we know all of the different parts of the game, let’s get down to actually playing it! At first glance this game can be a bit intimidating, but once you get a hang of the controls it’s easy peasy! Maybe after this guide you’ll be able to go pillage for your own treasure!

As a reminder, before moving on and completing the later levels, let slugawoo make more bubbles and defeat more enemies than required so you can get a transparent bubble. There are multiple ways to complete all of the levels and sometimes enemies will pop up in some of the key places. If this happens, you might need to modify this guide to your situation.

Note: The numbers of enemies listed are how many enemies you can defeat before you stop being awarded points for trapping enemies.

Level 1:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

In order to maximize your points, keep restarting until you start this level with the red cross. Once you have a level you’re comfortable playing, start the game by pushing the first treasure piece directly above you up into the treasure chest. For the second treasure pop 3 of the bubbles surrounding it and then push it to the left of the screen and then up into the treasure chest.

Level 2:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

In this level there are 2 pieces of treasure. The piece at the bottom is simple; you can just push it down into the chest. For the piece on the left of the screen you need to manipulate the bubbles to make a path for the treasure. This can be done by popping the light blue bubble to the right of the treasure chest and then pushing the dark blue bubble up. Now pop all the light blue bubbles at the top of the screen. Then you can push the treasure piece to the right and then down into the chest.

Level 3:

There are 5 enemies in this level.

In my opinion, this is the hardest level since the enemies usually pop up right where you don’t want them. Start the level by going to the bottom row of bubbles and pushing the dark blue bubble up. Then go to the right of the screen and push the bubble in front of the treasure piece up. Pop the light blue bubbles in front of the treasure piece and push it towards the other treasure piece. Pop the bubbles in front of the chest and push the treasure piece up into the chest. Now push the other treasure piece up and to the left (the dark blue bubble you pushed up earlier will position the treasure right in front of the chest). Finally, push the treasure piece up into the chest.

Level 4:

There are no enemies in this level.

Sometimes this level is unplayable because of the positioning on random gold pieces. If that happens restart the level. First work with the treasure piece closest to you. Push it right towards the barrier, then down, then right again, then down, then left, then up, and finally to the left again and into the treasure chest. Now go back and push the other treasure piece down, then to the left, then up, and then to the left and into the treasure chest.

Level 5:

There are 5 enemies in this level.

This level is pretty straightforward. Push the treasure piece on the left corner of the screen to the right and into the treasure chest. Push the other treasure piece up into the chest. Because of how many bubbles are in this level, it’s worth playing just to trap enemies over and over to get the transparent bubbles (worth 25 points in this level).

Level 6:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

This level might need to be modified depending on where the enemies pop up. Start the level by travelling down and popping the two light blue bubbles and then pushing the dark blue bubbles (that are directly below the treasure piece) to the right and down. Next pop the two leftmost light blue bubbles that are on the third row of bubbles from the bottom. Now you can push the treasure piece down, to the right, and then up into the treasure chest. For the other treasure piece, you pop the bubble to the left of the treasure and then push the treasure piece to the left, down, and then left again and into the treasure chest.

Level 7:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

This level can also be tricky depending on where the enemies pop up. Start by pushing the top bubble on the second row of bubbles (from the left) to the right. Now (one at a time) push the treasure pieces to the left and then push them up, right, up, and right again into the treasure chest. You can stay and trap enemies on this level but I usually don’t because it gets easy to die after a few of the bubbles are popped.

Level 8:

Do not trap enemies in this level.

This is the one level where I would not recommend trapping any enemies. If they pop up towards the bottom left bubbles on the screen you’ll most likely need to restart the level. You start the level in the top left corner- pop bubbles and make your way to the bottom left corner. There, you’re met with 3 bubbles. Pop the first two and then push the rightmost bubble towards the wall. Now push the rock down and towards the right wall. Go behind the treasure piece and now you can push it right, up, right, up, and then left into the chest.

Level 9:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

This is probably one of the trickier levels. You want to pop the two light blue bubbles below the dark blue bubble on the left of the screen. Next pop all the bubbles below, on top, and to the left of the closest treasure piece. Now you can push that piece up, right, up, and right into the chest. Then, take the piece on the top of the screen. Push it left and down. Now travel around the rock obstacle and push the piece to the right and into the chest. For the last piece, you can push it to the left and spend some time trapping enemies. If you’re low on bubbles go ahead and push the treasure piece into the chest. Otherwise keep trapping enemies in order to try to get a transparent bubble (worth 45 points!)

Level 10:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

Start the level by popping all the topmost bubbles. Then pop the bubble directly below the treasure chest and push the treasure piece to down, right, and down again. Now spend some time trapping enemies. This is a great level to rack up points in since there are so many bubbles. Once you’re starting to get low on bubbles, you can push the treasure to the left and into the chest.

Level 11:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

Another level that’s easy to get trapped in. I would avoid trapping enemies unless they’re directly in your way. Make your way to the top left corner and push the treasure piece towards the right and into the chest.

Level 12:

There are 3 enemies in this level.

Pop the two bubbles that are below the chest. Now you can push the treasure piece up into the chest. For the second piece, pop the bubble directly to the right of it and then push the treasure piece to the right. Don’t push it down just yet! Go out, go explore and trap those enemies! Transparent bubbles are worth 60 points in this level. If you’re going for a trophy I’d even recommend letting slugawoo make more bubbles for you to trap even more enemies! I’ve gotten 120 points just from this level before! Once you’re satisfied you can push the treasure piece down into the chest.

Level 13:

There is 1 enemy in this level.

Another easy level to gain a lot of points in. Simply pop the bubbles to the left, right, and below the chest and then you can push those pieces into the chest. After pushing the first two pieces, I’ll usually go trap more enemies since the transparent bubble is worth 65 points in this level.

Level 14:

There is 1 enemy in this level.

This level is a little tricky. Find where the chest is. Push the rock on the row above the chest to the right. Then push the top treasure piece downwards towards the lower piece. Now push the lower left treasure piece into the chest. Go around and push the right treasure piece into the chest. Then take the last piece and push it towards the right and then down. Now go around and trap enemies. Keep trapping enemies until you get a slugawoo, and let slugawoo keep making bubbles until nearly all the bubbles are replenished. Now repeat trapping enemies. Transparent bubbles on this level are worth 70 points.

Level 15:

There are no enemies in this level.

Start this level by pushing the lower rock down and the right rock to the right, up, right, and up against the top edge of the screen. Now push the treasure piece to the left, down, right, up (you’ll have to travel around the wall structure for this), and then up, right, up, and then left into the chest.

Level 16:

There are no enemies in this level.

Take this level one treasure piece at a time. Start by pushing the rock to the right of you up. Now go down to the bottom right treasure piece and push it right. Then take the middle left treasure piece and push it right into the chest. Now go back to the first piece and move it up and right into the chest. Push the rock above you to the right and push the next treasure piece down and right into the chest. Take the right treasure piece and push it left, down, and right into the chest. For the last treasure piece, push it right, up, right, down, left, down, and right into the chest.

Level 17:

There are no enemies in this level.

Start this level by pushing the bubble below the treasure chest up and to the right against the edge of the screen. Now push the rock above the treasure piece all the way to the right of the screen. There’s another rock that you’ll need to move. It’s right above the set of three rocks. Push it down into the little alcove formed by the other three rocks. Now you can push the treasure piece down, left, up, right, up, and left into the treasure chest.

Level 18:

There are no enemies in this level.

A straightforward level but a little tricky to explain. Basically you’re going to take bubbles from the left side of the screen and make a stack on the bottom right of the screen.

This is done by going to the top row of bubbles and pushing the third bubble from the left of the screen down. Now move both of these bubbles to the right edge of the screen and push the left bubble down. This is the start of your bubble stack. Now push the middle bubble of the top row to the right, down, right, and down onto the stack. Now we’ll focus on the bottom three bubbles. Take the top bubble and push it up. Now (one at a time) take the other two bubbles and push them up, right, and down into the stack. Now (again one at a time) take the treasure and push it down, right, up, right, up, right, down, and left into the treasure chest.

Level 19:

There are 5 enemies in this level.

I’ve never personally finished this level. It’s very chaotic, but by this time you should have the avatar score if not a gold trophy score. In this level I just keeping trapping enemies since the transparent bubbles are worth 95 points in this level.

Overall, the levels may seem tough but once you get the hang of trapping enemies until you get transparent bubbles, the game is super doable! If you feel comfortable going through without losing a life, I would recommend restarting levels at 12-14 to maximize your points. If you think you’re prone to losing lives, I would just continue on through the game.
