Who needs the Soup Faerie? A wealthy Neopian’s guide by blueskies020
--------
My Ixi and I visit the bustling Neopian marketplace daily, innocently searching for a delightful new book or grooming item, only to be barraged by the enticing aroma of soup. My Ixi’s stomach starts to rumble and her mouth starts to water. Of course, this inviting smell is wafting towards us from the soup kitchen, where the discriminating soup faerie offers warm and delicious soup... but only to the poorest of Neopets. As a wealthy Neopian with several million Neopoints in the bank, my Ixi and I are barred from the soup kitchen. "Oh dear!” the soup faerie exclaims when we approach, “you have 2,845,420 Neopoints! Only really poor people (under 3,000 NP) can get handouts at the Soup Kitchen.” But never fear my fellow Neopians of wealth; after searching far and wide across the many exotic lands of Neopia, I have discovered that there are a cornucopia of delightful soups available for purchase. Dare I say that the soups in the following list are actually far superior to the soup faerie’s watery concoctions. In this soup guide, I will elaborate on several soups that will surely satisfy you and your Neopet’s next soup craving. Chicken Dumpling Soup Description: Nothing warms your Neopet up on a cold day like a cup of delicious soup! After a day of skiing the perilous slopes of terror mountain, there is really nothing better than cuddling up next to your Neopet and imbibing a bowl of this hearty chicken dumpling soup by the fireplace. The broth is smooth and rich, the chicken is tender, and the dumplings are small, perfect surprises - soft, melty pillows in your mouth! Drinking this soup is like wrapping yourself in the warmest fleece blanket; it will warm you straight to the core. This soup is the very definition of comfort food. Enjoy on a a cold day! Halloween Goblin Soup Description: No Goblins were harmed in the making of this soup... This soup is chock full of goblin meat. To naysayers who have not yet tried such exotic meat, my Ixi and I can attest that goblin meat is tender, tasty, and only slightly gamey. This meaty goblin soup is well suited for that Neopet who has been training hard at the Swashbuckling Academy and needs plenty of protein to ramp up those muscles for the Battledome. With regular doses of this soup, your Neopet will be defeating the space faerie in no time! (And in case there are any staunch goblin activists reading this article - do not worry! The description is quite clear that no goblins were harmed in the making of this soup, and I, for one, am totally convinced.) Thimble of Soup Description: Its the perfect portion if you are a Petpet… It can be dangerous when your Neopets' Petpets or Petpetpets are near your Neopets' meals. For one, if your Neopet leaves food unattended, Petpets are notoriously ravenous and will chow down on your Neopet’s meal without a second thought. Just when you thought your Kacheek was getting close to an honorary gourmet food trophy… CHOMP! There goes that gourmet food down her Candychan's stomach. Second, if your Neopet is enjoying a large bowl of soup and her Petpetpet, enticed by the aroma, happens to fall IN the soup... well that is a traumatic experience I would not wish upon my worst enemy (unfortunately, Mootix do not know how to swim). This thimble of soup is thus perfect if your Neopet happens to have a hungry Petpet or Petpetpet companion; a Petpet will feel special to have its own portion of soup and a Petpetpet will not be in danger of drowning. Last but not least, this thimble of soup is just the right petite portion if your Neopet is watching his or her weight after several weeks of cheesy omelettes and not much exercise. (I don’t blame you! That giant omelette smells so good!) The portion may be small, but the flavor is sure to be satisfying! Illusen Chilled Summer Soup Description: Soup isn't always hot! Have you ever wondered how Illusen maintains that fabulous figure? Rumor has it that her diet consists largely of soups! This particular soup was crafted from Illusen’s personal recipe. It is chock full of nutritious ingredients such as dark leafy greens, crunchy chopped carrots, and bursting ripe tomatoes - all picked fresh from Illusen's glade. All those nutritious, homegrown vegetables also lend the soup a pleasant, fresh aroma. Smells like a springtime garden! Illusen has instructed that this soup be served chilled so that the broth feels cool and refreshing on a hot summer’s day. I suggest having a bowl while stretched out on the sunny beaches of Mystery Island. Unlike richer broths that may induce sleepiness, Illusen has created a soup that will leave you feeling light, energetic and ready for a Tiki Tour! For a trim waist, this chilled summer soup is highly recommended. Misty Shenkuu Mountain Soup Description: The mist adds to the taste. Many wealthy Neopians enjoy jet setting to Shenkuu to enjoy the mountaintop views, Lunar Festivals, and of course, the exotic foods! While there are so many items to try on a Shenkuu restaurant menu, no trip to Shenkuu is complete without tasting this local delicacy. Unlike other boring and predictable liquid soups, the misty Shenkuu mountain soup exists in gaseous form. By consuming this soup, your Neopet will experience the earthy and rugged taste of the mountains. However, I must warn you that this soup must be eaten quickly or else it will diffuse into the surrounding air. So grab a spoon already! Thus as you can see, there are a wide variety of exotic and delicious soups in Neopia to satisfy you and your Neopet’s next soup craving. I have only listed my personal favorites here, but there are so many more soups to taste and explore. From the highest mountains of Shenkuu to the murky depths of the Haunted Woods, you and your Neopet can always find a new and delicious soup to sample. So the next time you happen to be in the marketplace and the soup faerie turns you away, just remember you can obtain soups that are far more flavorful and nutritious than the tepid broth in the soup faerie’s cauldron. (Apologies to the soup faerie if you have been offended by this article - but maybe give me and my Neopet a sample next time!) Thank you very much for joining me on this soup review. Writing it has made me quite hungry so I will be off enjoying some soup now. :)
