Everyone loves Halloween. We all love any excuse to dress up and tap into our spooky sides. But picking an outfit is hard, and you don’t want to spend the next year having missed out on this seasons’ ‘it’ item. So we’ve complied this guide, and sorted through to find the best items for you, just in time for the spooky season! Background Our recommendation: Neovia Shop Silhouette Background  We love the versatility of this background. It’s monochrome colour scheme allows you to make it your own while still being on theme. The fog gives this background a spooky feel that matches the holiday perfectly. This pick is a limited release item from Y14 that our mate the Shop Wiz has been finding for approx. 450,000 NP. Shout-out: Malicious Dark Faeries Background  Scary glowing trees? Check. Ominous faeries? Check. Overall feeling of creeping darkness? Check and check. We love the neon blue and purple elements that provide a highlight in this colour palette. This pick sells in Mystical Surroundings for just over 4,000 NP. Foreground Our recommendation: Cover of Darkness Foreground //images.neopets.com/items/gif_cover_of_darkness.gif Ever make a Halloween outfit that just wasn’t dark enough? This item adds a layer of dark clouds that surround your neopet, but allows that the spooky costume underneath to still be visible. It’s like it was made for us! This pick is a limited release from Y12 and has been spotted in the Neopian Markets for approx. 900,000 NP. Sometimes you’ve got to pay for quality. Shout-out: Old Cobwebs Foreground  We love Spyder Webs to add a spooky atmosphere, and these webs are perfect for layering. Use them indoors or outdoors - they’ll fit in with any theme. This pick sells in Ugga Shinies for just over 1,000 NP, or in the Neopian Markets for roughly the same. Wherever you prefer to shop, this item is a true bargain. Higher Foreground Item Our recommendation: Haunted Woods Archway  We’re not entirely sure we’d pass through this archway if we didn’t have to! This item is the perfect combination of daunting and spooky, with tall columns and spyder webs framing your neopet and letting them be the focus of your spooky custom. This pick stocks in Ugga Shinies for just under 6,000 NP. Get shopping! Shout-out: Undead Apple Tree Foreground  Usually we’re not fans of rotten looking produce - but boy do we love it here. Think jack-o-lanterns meets apple tree, and this item is the result. The malevolent faces carved into these apples will have you vibing Halloween. Our advice? Don’t try to eat one! This pick can be found in the Neopian Markets for under 100 NP, or can be won for free playing Apple Bobbing with Bart. Too good. Lower Foreground Item Our recommendation: Pumpkin Ink Frame  Pumpkins are so in this season, and we are firm fans of the trend. Plus, we love the way the swirls in the frame ominously creep into the centre. Our friend the Shop Wizard has been seeing this pick at around 50 NP. There’s no excuse to not have this one in your closet! Shout-out: Full Cauldron  Bubble, bubble! We can’t get enough of a Witch theme at Halloween. It’s got all your cauldron essentials; green goop, a skull, and a tentacle. This item looks like it could belong to one of our witch faves, Edna or Sophie. Perfect! This pick is a limited release from Y17, and sells for close to 300,000 NP in the Neopian Markets. Jewellery Our recommendation: Golden Spyder Necklace  We can’t resist this piece for Halloween. Gold jewellery is our weakness all year round. Add a spyder, and you’ve got the statement necklace of the season. This necklace is sure to stand out against the dark coloured clothes that dominate this time of year. This pick sells at Uni’s (our favourite local!) for just over 7,000 NP.
Right-Hand Item Our recommendation: Fancy Broomstick  Now, we know this piece is theme specific but the detail on this broom is outstanding. The crooked stick, and ratty broom give this a witchy vibe, while the orange and pink ribbons are an unconventional (but fabulous!) Halloween colour palette. Find this pick in the Neopian Markets for approx. 7,000 NP. Wings Our recommendation: Jagged Ink Wings  We don’t know how aerodynamic they are, but they sure are scary. We love the darkness these wings provide, while not detracting from an overall theme. Being black, they’re super versatile and work with any outfit. This pick stocks in Prigpants & Swolthy, Tailors for just over 4,000 NP. Time to head to Neovia. Gloves Our recommendation: Steel Nails / Jhudoras Fingernails  &  We don’t normally have two items in the top spot per category, but these two are incredibly similar apart from their colour. The pointed shape of these add a sinister vibe, perfect for a witch or other creepy costume. We love Jhudora’s with other bright green items to tie in the colour palette (looking at you, Full Cauldron). Otherwise the Steel Nails are a subtle addition that will work with any theme. Find the Steel Nails at Uni’s for 10,000 NP – they will be hard to find though, so you can buy them quickly for under 450,000 NP at the Neopian Markets. Alternatively, our friend the Shop Wiz has let us know Jhudoras will only set you back around 2,000 NP. Static Our recommendation: Webbed Hairband  If we had to pick an overall favourite, it would probably be this. Take your ordinary Hat or Wig and add this item for instant spook (notice we didn’t have a wig this time?!). We love the almost crown shape this headband forms, and features one of our spooky faves - spyders! We think it looks great with a Long Silver Wig, but will go great with your fave, too! This pick stocks at Uni’s for just over 8,000 NP, but our mate the Shop Wiz has seen it for under 7,000 NP. A steal! We hope you’ve enjoyed reading our guide to this years’ best spooky items.
