Top 10 Fan-Made Avatars We Would Like to See

by andypopo

--------

We recently had a fun discussion about avatars on the Neoboards. We asked our fellow Neopians about their avatar wishes. Not only are there many other Avatar fanatics like ourselves, but there are many imaginative and artistic folks out there who have avatar ideas of their own.

The following are 10 avatars designed by fruit_fanatic24 and andypopo that we hope to see in the near future.

The art for the avatars can be found on the following page.

     1. Mystery Picture Avatar

This is a site feature that has lasted for so long on Neopets. Each week Neopians hunt around the site to find just where the collection of pixels come from. It is a wonderfully tense competition where we race to find the image so that we have a chance at a trophy, an item and our split of the 2 million Neopian prize pool. Usually, the Neopoints are only a few thousand and the item isn’t worth that much so an avatar would be a fantastic addition.

     Requirements:

Be one of the first 250 people to correctly answer the weekly Mystery pic.

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. For this avatar imagine a highly pixelated image just like the weekly mystery pic slowly coming into focus in each frame to reveal a crisp and clean image of the Yellow inventory Aisha. Her image represents a common image we all see on a daily basis but might not recognize in her pixelated state.

     2. Achin’ for Bacon

Some of the best avatars are completely out of left field. This one is a shout out to all of those bacon lovers out there whose pets would rather eat bacon than any salad. There are 33 delicious bacon food items on Neopets that your pets would love to be fed. No pet would complain being asked to feast down on a tasty plate of bacon.

     Requirements:

Feed your pet 5 unique items containing the word “bacon".

     Inspiration:

Designed by fruit_fanatic24. We don’t need to say anything except MMMmmm. Bacon.

      3. Collectible Card Avatar

The Collectible Cards have been a part of the site for decades but have largely been ignored compared to the dozens of stamp avatars that have been released over the years. The Collectible cards are removable, so you don’t need to worry about sticking them into your album. They could be lent or sold after achieving this avatar. Instead of having to fill your collection, we could have a preset amount like 250 or 300 unique cards so that it is a good balance of attainable but still requiring the Neopian to work for it. This is an amount that means you don’t need to spend millions on avatars.

     Requirements:

Have 300 unique cards in your Neodeck and view your collection.

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. A flutter of cards rotating in perfect unison around a holographic card at the centre. With the classic addition of the word “Collector” placed neatly at the bottom of the image.

     4. Doglefox

The Doglefox has been many Neopets companions since it was released all the way back in 2001. They have always been one of the cutest pets, with the body of a dog with the colours of a fox. There are several avatars that pay tribute to a variety of petpets, but none are as adorable as this little guy.

     Requirements:

Have a Doglefox attached to your pet for 101+ days, then visit your pet's lookup.

     Inspiration:

Designed by fruit_fanatic24. An adorable Doglefox with stylized stitching around the edges of the image. The Doglefox is unpainted as a throwback to one of the most classic petpets.

     5. Trophy Collector

There are so many different ways to collect trophies around the site. Events, games, weekly competitions all award shiny trophies for your collection. How fantastic would it be to have an avatar that reflected your trophy aspirations? This would give many Neopians rewards for their ongoing loyalty and commitment to many different parts of the site!

     Requirements:

Have 100 unique Site Event / Game Trophies and view your user lookup.

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. A foreground that exhibits a retro arcade display showing a screen of falling gold trophies to reveal “Trophy Collector” in the classic avatar font. Much better to see than the dreaded “Game Over”.

     6. Candy Kougra

One of the most unique colours in the past few years was Candy via the Candy Paintbrush. The Kougra is one of the best renditions of this colour and is a lovely mix of white and a swirl of bright colours reminiscent of an everlasting gobstopper. It has been a while since we had a clickable avatar in our midst, but this avatar would be too stunning to keep out of anyone’s hands.

     Requirements:

Visit the pet lookup of a Candy Kougra.

     Inspiration:

Designed by fruit_fanatic24. This avatar design exudes the sweetness of the candy shop. The bright cherry background makes the colours of the gobsmacked Kougra pop. The stylized bobbing of the “Sweet” text finish of this must-have avatar.

     7. Food Club

Oh Food Club. When you think about it the idea of a food club is so ridiculous. All you are tasked with is betting on which pirates you think will eat the most. Each of the pirates has great personality and it would be great for them to have an avatar to accent their wonderful attributes. Your high score is determined by how many Neopoints you cash out in one go. You can cash out in a single day or cash out in a 7-day period.

Cashing out 1,000,000 sounds insane but it really isn’t hard. It is only an average of 142,000 a day. And if you are lucky, you could win a maximum of 1,000,000 in a single bet on a single day.

Lots of people might argue for a higher value such as 1,500,000 to 3,000,000, or a high score table avatar, but it is much harder for newer accounts to get these amounts.

     Requirements:

Cash out 1,000,000 or more in Food Club.

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. A nice pile of gold coins and other shiny things. This image hails from the Black Pawkeet Slots. It looks very luxurious and fits while with the pirate and treasure themes of Food Club!

     8. Hasee Bounce

Another classic game deserves an avatar. Hasee Bounce is a fun game with a hilarious soundtrack. Jimmi and Woogy are two hungry Hasees and they want to feast on doughnutfruit.

This game is a mix of skill and luck, the perfect combination for a game avatar.

     Requirements:

Submit a score of 275+ in Hasee Bounce

     Inspiration:

Designed by fruit_fanatic24. The colours of Jimmi and Woogy are the inspiration for this avatar featuring a background of a starry sky dazzled with stars. The Hasees fly through the sky trying to catch, but sadly missing the doughnutfruit whizzing beside them.

      9. Magma Pool

Moltara has a lot of fans. Unfortunately, it does not have a lot of love when it comes to avatars. When I was chatting on the Neoboards numerous users suggested the idea of a Magma Pool avatar. What a wonderful idea! The guard loves to tell us over and over “I'm sorry, only those well-versed in the ways of Moltara are permitted to enter the Pool.” What a perfect way to reward your patience and wisdom with an avatar! If you are lucky or persistent enough you deserve this one! This avatar is accessible to all Neopians

     Requirements:

Awarded after taking your pet for a dip in the Magma Pool.

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. This one is simple; the inspiration is the Lava Pool Guard and the poses he takes throughout the day. The guard that stays awake all day except for the short 10-minute nap he takes every day.

     10. Turmac Roll

This is one of the most popular games in Neopia, so it is no surprise that many Neopians requested an avatar for this fan favourite game. “If a Turmac eats a lot, it can grow up to be big and strong (maybe even as big as the Turmaculus one day)!” Users would have to dodge stumps and collect a variety of berries to attempt to collect this avatar. Would it be an easy medium or hard game avatar? I think given all of the hard game avatars out there making this one medium difficulty would help make it attainable for most users.

     Requirements:

Submit a score of 2000+ in Turmac Roll

     Inspiration:

Designed by Andypopo. The inspiration for this one is the adorable movements that the Turmac makes in this game before flying off the first hill it encounters. The classic Turmac purple contrasts well with the green grass the adorable Turmac rolls over.

Well, there you have it 10 avatars that are just the start of all of the future possibilities. Of course, these are only imaginative suggestions and no two Neopians may agree on the implementation of these avatars. We would love to see some of these as starting points as future real avatars and would be happy to see them on the site.
