Week One - Friday

League One

On Friday morning League One held its last match, pitting The Black Widow against Billy Bob Fandango. Two minutes into the game Black Widow struck first, taking a lead she'd hold the rest of the way. After a slow start, the defensive stalemate gave way to a flurry of goals, and Black Widow cruised to a 5-3 win, sending Fandango home and Jimmy James into the next round. However, Black Widow stayed in the hunt for a wild card spot (see Wild Cards below).

League Two

Entering the day, Dave Scorcheski and The Beader both hoped for a spot in the next round, but they'd have to face Hip Jive Robot first. In the early match, HJR got a real challenge from The Beader, who stayed close until Hip Jive scored some late goals for a 5-2 win. HJR then faced Scorcheski, giving him a 9-2 spanking. And so, despite identical records, Beader's lead in the Goal Differential tiebreaker put her in the next round, while Scorcheski was sent packing.

League Three

By Day Five, C Dawg and Big Spender already had their spots in The Knockout Round secured. For Sweets to join them as a wild card, she'd need a big win against Spazz. However, with nothing but pride at stake, Spazz refused to roll over and quit. Battling all the way, they smashed away at each other for five minutes of fierce Deckball action. When the smoke cleared, Sweets had a well-deserved 3-2 win, but it wasn't enough for a shot at the wild card.

League Four

There were no League Four matches today.

League Five

In League Five's last match, it was Mr. Q, who hoped to finish Round One with a 4-0 record, versus Tiger Catcher, who'd need a win to play for a wild card spot. In the early going, TC took a 2-0 lead, but Q soon scored twice to tie the match, then added another four goals to take a commanding 6-2 lead. Tiger Catcher closed the gap with two more scores, but by then the damage was done. Mr. Q tacked on another goal for good measure, winning 7-4.

League Six

After a two day wait for the Blind Justice-Wolverine match, many might ask, "Was it worth it?" Erm... no. Wolverine's lack of shots on goal cost him dearly, while Blind Justice piled on the goals, cruising to an 8-0 triumph. In the day's other game, Penelope lost 6-2 to Golden Child, keeping his wild card hopes alive (see Wild Cards below). After the match, Penelope said that a Wadjet bite suffered before the tournament left her weak, causing her poor performance.

League Seven

The big story in League Seven was the late charge by Hollywood into The Knockout Round (see Wild Cards below). Starting the day with a mere three points, Hollywood squeaked out a tough 4-3 win against Monitor Lizard, then crushed Jasmine 7-0 to finish with nine points, enough to earn him a place in the playoff for a wild card spot. In other League Seven action, Jasmine and Monitor Lizard slugged it out in a defensive struggle that ended in a 1-1 tie.

Wild Cards

Runner Up One
The first wild card match paired Hollywood against Golden Child, with a spot in The Knockout Round at stake. Despite being the underdog, Hollywood was not intimidated by Golden Child's offensive prowess. Fearlessly hammering away at each other, the lead went back and forth until Hollywood finally won 6-5.

Runner Up Two
After his humiliating loss to Blind Justice, Wolverine looked to rebound by defeating Black Widow and earning a spot in Round Two. However it wasn't to be, as Black Widow dominated the early going, taking a huge lead and never looking back as she coasted to an impressive 6-3 win.
