Short Story Jamboree

Kikos Darkside
by akeyz

A lone Kiko, abandoned by his parents, has lived in the streets of Central Neopia. He was young, unscrupulous and arrogant. He lived on ganging up on unsuspecting visitors at the Neopian Market, stealing goods to eat and live. The name was Kihoru. He has mastered the ways of the streets, stealing at such speed and agility that people barely saw him stealing.

One night, as he was trying to sell his stolen goods on the underground market, a very old hermit asked for some food.

"You do have some spare loaf and water? I haven;t eaten for days.." the hermit said pitifully.

The Kiko went, and looked at his goods. A handful of colorful neggs sparkled in his bag.

"These foods are only fit for a King!" Kihoru harshly replied.

"Here, eat this!" he tossed a handful of Sandwhich grossly packed with a filling of dung.

The hermit walked unhappily and disappeared in the cold night.

But as he walked down the alley, a wave of lights surrounded him.

"You see! This Kiko is up to no good! Let's punish him!" a blazing Fire Faerie angrily said.

"So sad indeed, but punishing him... will it do any good?" the Air Faerie replied as they circled in the air cornering fear stricken Kiko.

The Darkness faerie lashed out, " Leave him as that, you goody goody faeries are so annoying. He flew to the sky and flew right infront on Kihoru's face. "I see a warrior's soul in your eyes. Here take this sword, and use it for pleasure," the Dark Faerie cackled and suddenly disappeared. A four-foot sword shimmered beside the young Kiko, now shuddering with fear.

"You are of no good to this world, young brat, an insult to the Good you are!" The Fire Faerie burned all the goods the kiko is carrying and flew away.

The Air faerie was left, still hovering on the Kihoru's face. "You are not as bad as you think you are, i see the pain of your past, the guilt of your wrongdoings. Let this be a lesson to you." The Air faerie wiped the tears of the kiko. "There is still hope for you, young one, the Dark faerie is right, you have the becomings of a warrior. but you can only choose which path to take, good or evil. Get up Kihoru and fulfill your destiny!" and the Air faerie disappeared in mist.

"I'll be watching you," a voice whispered in the air.

Dumbstuck, Kihoru lie on the ground, all the thoughts of his past haunted him, all the evildoings he has done.

"Yes, there is still time to straighten my path to Good," Kihoru said to himself.

As he got up he saw the shimmering sword, it was too heavy to carry with one arm. "The dark faerie has given this to me, how will I put it to use?

On the shaft of the sword was etched the name, "Niten Hiroru."
