from the beginning!
The branch trembled and a soft gong sounded. Five small buds appeared on the
end of the bush's branches. Growing larger rapidly the fruit grew lushly on
the ends of the branches. The Negg Faerie beckoned a small red Moehog out of
the shadows as she plucked one of the purple and yellow striped Neggs off of
the bush.
"Here. Try this," her honey-toned voice coerced.
The Moehog licked his lips, "Mmm...a Negg." Swallowing it in two bites the
Moehog smiled, "Can I have another one?"
"Maybe. In a minute," the Faerie grinned. Her wicked grin widened as the Moehog
curled up in pain. Evil always loved pain - it lived for suffering. The Moehog's
frantic movements of pain ceased and it stood up, looking at her with jet black
eyes. No whites were visible in the beast's emotionless eyes. The short hair
on its head lengthened into diabolical spikes and blood-red leathery wings unfolded
from the black back. This was now her creature. Long fangs curling up and all.
This would help her get revenge and claim what was rightfully hers.
The Shop Wizard gasped. The Negg Faerie mutating pets with Neggs! This was
unbelievable! Stepping out from behind his tree he raised his arms to summon
a fireball. The Moehog turned and gave a deep grunt in warning.
The Faerie nimbly dodged the fireball, "Is that your best, puny wizard?"
"Of course not, you're not worth my best," he launched a bolt of lightning
at her. Raising an arm she absorbed the whole bolt into a silver knight Negg
and the Negg crumpled in her hand.
"You can't be this good - you're a Negg Faerie!"
"That's what they all say," she snarled, "Just a Negg Faerie. Well I'll show
you what just a Negg Faerie can do!"
A fireball Negg hurtled toward the wizard and he rolled out of the way, losing
his hat in the process. Launching a pitiful bubble beam at the Faerie as he
rolled only stopped an icestorm Negg as it hurtled toward him. Lint watched
this all from the safety of the edge of the clearing. The Moehog, if that's
what you called it after its transformation, just stood there with no orders
being commanded of him.
Lint's fear grew as he saw his uncle get slower and slower at retaliating the
Negg attacks. The Negg Faerie seemed full of energy and almost played with the
wizard as a cat would play with a mouse. She taunted him then flitted away.
The Negg Faerie, however, quickly got bored of this. Suddenly a super Negg flew
out of her hand and, little cape flying out behind it, charged forward and flew
right into the wizard knocking him backwards into a tree. He stayed at the base
of the tree unmoving.
Something primitive arose inside the little Fuzzle's mind at seeing his uncle
down. Letting out a loud screech he flopped into the clearing, facing the Faerie
with an angry flare of vengeance. The Faerie sneered down at him. But surprise
flitted across her face as the primeval Fuzzle screech was answered. Turning
around a black Fuzzle stood by a radioactive Negg on the other side of the clearing.
Another screech. Followed by another. And another. Another. Every colour Fuzzle
stood by a radioactive Negg.
As one they angrily stared down the Negg Faerie. As one they hastily ate the
Neggs they were next to. The green glow had not left the clearing - it had been
transferred. All the Fuzzles glowed. Almost imperceptibly the glow grew brighter
and brighter. Each Fuzzle glowed its own colour and the colours all spread.
They all grew and converged. They converged on the Negg Faerie. The Negg Faerie
screamed. The Fuzzles colours surrounded her and pain seared her body. She felt
like throwing up and pain throbbed her head. Her arms and legs tingle. Finally
with a quick gasp she whispered, "Save me..."
The Moehog's head perked up. Save her. She had said it. With a quick kick he
sent the nearest Fuzzle flying out of the clearing. The Negg Faerie collapsed.
Running over he slipped her onto his back. With her draped onto his back and
her hand clutching a purple and yellow striped Negg he flapped his wings and
lifted off. Up into the blackness of the night sky and away. Lint watched as
the beast flew away on the back of the poor mutated creature. Frustrated he
frowned then realised he had to act. First he had to destroy the Negg bush,
or else the Negg Faerie would be back. Running up on his legs he got two evil
Fuzzles nearby to help make a circle around the bush and as one they whispered,
"Flames."
The bush flared up brightly in flames of hot fire and they watched until it
was just ashes. Lint did a double take. Evil Fuzzles? He thought he had only
seen normal Fuzzles in the ring. Then he looked down. He was standing on two
legs. Legs! He had grown into an evil Fuzzle! And he could talk! Evidently the
other Fuzzles realised this too.
"Hey we've become evil Fuzzles!" a definite feminine voice exclaimed.
"Yay! Let's Party!" another cried.
The rest agreed and they ran off in a shouting group. Lint was left. He had
to save his uncle. Running over to the Shop Wizard he listened closely and heard
faint breathing. He may not last long. Grabbing his collar he dragged him slowly
back to the Cockroach Towers.
Trees groped for them, but with a screech from Lint the trees retracted realising
the power that had come from the ring of Fuzzles It wasn't until morning that
Lint got back to the hotel. Heaving the Jubjub onto his cushion he shoved him
onto the bed after the pillow had risen into the air. Wiping away a tear, Lint
sniffed and knew who he had to find if he was to save his uncle. Taking one
last look at his poor uncle he turned and walked out the door.
