Create A Pet? Adopt A Pet? -- How? by newyear9303 | |
CREATE-A-PET CENTER - Feeling lonely? Why don't you get a Neopet? The first step
to get a Neopet is to choose whether to create a pet, or adopt a pet. Most users
choose to create a pet, but there are some Neopians who prefer adopting pets.
I'll cover both options.
CREATE A PET
The first step to creating a pet, is figuring out which species you prefer.
There are many, many choices to decide from. If you want a cute, more female
pet, you could try an Aisha, an Ixi, or maybe a Uni. But be careful. Uni's,
(especially blue ones,) have a strong stereotype attached to them. They are
often thought as haughty, or snobby.
For a more male pet, try a Grundo, or maybe a Scorchio. Grundo's can't be
created in the normal way. There is a special way to create Grundo's. *Hint

For a fun pet that will give you lots of laughs, check out a Bruce, a Chia,
a Kau, or maybe a Lupe. (WARNING! If you get a Chia, stay away from Lupes, and
vice versa. Lupes and Chias have been unfriendly towards each other for a long
time. It's called the Lupe and Chia Debate. I personally am on the Chia's side.)
Want an underwater pet? Look at a Kiko, a Koi. Kiko's even have their own
mini-world, Kiko Lake. It's a great place to hang out. (What's under the Kiko's
bandage? Another bandage!)
Let's say you have decided on a yellow Kacheek. The next thing to do is to
make a name. Names should reflect the pet's personality, so often people select
the personality first.
Although many people say personalities aren't important for pets, they are
wrong. Personalities are just as important for pets, as they are for people!
Believe it or not, personalities affect how your pet react to different situations.
So, choose your personality carefully.
After you have selected your pet's personality, go onto their name. Names
are vital, as you will see the names almost every time you see a picture of
your pet. Many names have already been taken, so you might need to add some
numbers at the end of your pet's name. I add 9303 to the end of all my pet's
names. 9303 is like my code number. It stands for 1993, (my birth year,) and
2003, (when I created my account.) \
So what should you name your yellow Kacheek? Think of it's personality. Is
it sweet, and happy? Or tough, and unfriendly? Do you want "Kacheek" in the
name? Should the name include things associated with the color, or word "yellow?"
Take all this into consideration when you name your pet.
Here's a neat way to name your pet. Take the first letter of the color of
your pet. For us it would be Y. Then take the first vowel of the species, which
would be A. Third, choose any syllable. Ours can be El. So far, our name is
Yael. Next choose any letter. Note. If you choose Q, then you automatically
add U. We'll choose M. Finally, add any suffix. Ours will be -ing. Our name
is Yaelming, or Mingyael, depending on what you prefer. Say you choose Mingyale.
If this name is already taken, add a code number.
The last step to creating a pet, is to roll their stats, or, see how strong
they are. Let's say the first thing you get is frail, average, cheetah. This
is not very good. On try two, you get very strong, armoured, and average. This
is pretty good. Chances are, you won't get any better. I suggest you take it.
In case you are a perfectionist, and choose not to take it, reroll. On roll
three, you might get frail, frail, and average. Although annoying, it is extremely
common. Roll four, you get average, average, and cheetah. This is okay. Not
great, not the worst thing you could get. For roll five, you might get strong,
armoured, and frail. This is extremely good, although not as good as roll two.
Still, it's your fifth roll, and you can't go back. Click on "Enter Neopia,"
and begin to play!
ADOPT A PET
You've chosen to adopt a pet! Adopting a pet gives the pet a warm, happy feeling,
and erases the melancholy feeling of being put in the pound by some cruel owner.
In the pound, you can see many different pets. When you look at the pets, you
will see one in bold, and the other two faded. You can only adopt the pets in
bold.
There are three things to take into consideration is 1.) the species/color
of the pet, and 2.) the stats of the pet, and 3.) how many NP it takes to adopt
the pet. The main thing is to not look for the cheapest pet, then run off with
it.
Ironically, this is the worst thing to do. Later on, you will probably regret
getting the pet, and not like it. Probably, you'll end up returning it to the
pound, and spend a lot of NP getting rid of it.
A better strategy is to find all the pets with good stats, and write their
names down with no spelling mistakes or abbreviations! This ensures you will
be able to find the pet in the search engine. If you want, jot down the color
and species of the pet.
Let's say you see a Striped Shoyru. You have always wanted one, and now you
can adopt it! It's fairly cheap for a painted pet- only 319 NP. You're so happy,
and excited, but then, something catches your eye.
It's stats. It's stats are horrible. Atrocious. Unheard of. They are the lowest
stats you can imagine. You gulp. It's a one-time offer. What are you going to
do?
Most people will buy the pet, and work like mad to get high stats. Probably
you will, but a few people will not. A few people will pass by wistfully, sighing
to yourself unhappily.
When you finally choose your favorite pet, go to the Adopt-A-Pet Search Engine.
Type in the pet's name accurately! Adopt the pet, and you're ready to go!
AUTHOR'S NOTE: No matter which option you choose; creating a pet, or adopting
a pet, I hope you are happy. Don't neglect your pets. They depend on you to
feed them, and play with them. Make the time you spent creating/adopting that
pet worth while. Feel free to Neomail me with constructive criticism.
