Buttercup and Scarlet walked through Terror Mountain. The brown Bruce and desert
Kougra stood out like a sore thumb in the midst of Blumaroos and Bruces who
were usually white or base colours, not brown. They stopped at the Garage Sale
and the ice shop and came out with Snow Pizza. They also had a ball to bounce
around.
"And so--" Buttercup started.
"Look!" shrieked Scarlet. She pointed to a group of pets behind a drift of
snow. The group consisted of KorieAnn the faerie Gelert, ZipADee the silver
Zafara (who had silver ice all over himself), Gabby the purple Eyrie, CloudKiss
the striped Wocky, Ruby the disco Kyrii (who hated his girly name) and even
KC the white Meerca.
They ran over (okay, so Scarlet actually limped) and the group hugged. They
talked for a while and finally split up again, but this time KC, Ruby, and Gabby
came along with the Bruce and Kougra duo.
They walked until Gabby pointed and laughed. "Hey, who wants to go face the
Snowager?" She made a silly face mimicking the Snowager's growl.
Scarlet shuffled her feet. "I... don't think so... isn't he awake now?"
Gabby shook her head. "Man, sister, you are such a Lenny!"
Scarlet jumped. "I'm not chicken I just... don't want to go....." her voice
faded out.
Gabby shook her head. "If you aren't chicken let's go then! I could use some
new toys."
Scarlet gulped and the others offered no opinion. What Gabby said, went. They
went into the cave slowly. The followed many different turns and twists. Even
the thought of being trapped in a cave with Ruby didn't comfort her...well,
she giggled, maybe not much.
KC bounced around looking at her reflection in everything. After a couple minutes,
Ruby put in, "Haven't we gone far enough? We should have seen SOMETHING by now..."
Gabby gulped but said, "N-no...it's just down here..."
They kept walking. Scarlet was about to comment when suddenly the ground below
her disappeared. She fell what seemed like miles until she hit the ice below
her. She heard calls above her. She recognised one to be Ruby yelling, "Scarlet!
Are you okay?!"
She struggled to say it, but finally stuttered, "Y-yea, I'm okay...I..." a
tear dripped down her face. "I'm scared...I can't move...."
She heard a scrambling, a couple protests, and then a thud beside her. It was
Ruby! He lifted her head onto his lap and stroked it. "Scarlet, can you feel
your legs at all?"
Normally she would daydream about things like this with pleasure, but now
it was nothing but a nightmare. "No, I... I can't feel anything."
Ruby called something up to them but her mind was fuzzy and the loud noises
sounded like nothing. She heard a fluttering of wings and Gabby landed in front
of her. Her eyes were watery. "Sis, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Ruby shook his head.
Gabby nodded. "Look, I'm gonna go get someone, okay? You just stay here."
She was about to say, "I can't move, so I'm not going anywhere" but somehow
the look in her sister's usually tough eyes made her only nod stiffly.
Gabby flew up and told KC to go one way and she ran the other. She ran as fast
as her lavender Eyrie claws would carry her. How could she have done this to
her own sister? She made Scarlet come...with her taunting. How evil could she
be, especially knowing that Scarlet's legs were already weak and probably couldn't
walk well on the ice. Tears flew behind her as crystallized diamonds, smashing
onto the walls of the cavern. Which way was out? Left right right... no... it
was straight right left... that wasn't right either... or was it left? She ran
not paying attention until she ran into a wall of ice. But... it wasn't glass.
Eyes peered at her from a groggy nap. The Snowager!
"What are you doing here?" the Snowager said.
Gabby didn't know what to do, but she was desperate. "It's my sister, she's
hurt and I need somebody to come help her because she can't move and--"
"Aren't you supposed to be all...'aah...'...and me be all...'roar....' or something?"
Gabby started crying. "I need help for my sister!"
She then took the time to look around. What seemed like about 100 Snowagers
sat around sleeping. "What the..."
The Snowager in front of her said, "What, you don't think we only sleep those
three hours a day do you? We take shifts."
Gabby then looked up into the cold hateful eyes of the Snowager. "Please...help
my sister..."
Scarlet lay there for what seemed to be many long hours. Ruby didn't move
at all except to rub her to keep her warm. She started to fall asleep. Suddenly
she was shaken, hard. "SCARLET!?"
"Hmm?" she said sleepily.
"Scarlet! Don't fall asleep!"
"But I'm tired..."
"Scarlet, you can't go to sleep! Come on, you won't make it if you do...we
need you scarlet. All of the disable pets of Neopia need you for encouragement,
your family needs you... your friends need you... I need you, Scarlet... DON'T
fall asleep!"
The last part jolted her awake. Her eyes watered again. She changed the subject.
"Do you think they're coming back?"
He jumped. "Of course. And I'll keep you safe until then."
She smiled. "Thanks, Ruby..."
Suddenly, a rumbling sounded through the cave and Ruby grasped Scarlet up in
his arms, ready to protect her with his life. The Snowager's head popped up
over the hole above them and they gasped. Then, Gabby's head appeared. Scarlet
almost laughed. "What, didn't think I was comin' back? Shame on you, sister!"
She then laughed as the Snowager pulled them both up. As she passed Gabby,
she whispered, "I'm sorry for being such a bother..."
She then was plopped on top of the Snowager's head and Gabby flew up beside
her to keep her warm and whispered, "No... I'm sorry."

Okay, so they were all okay... they were met halfway with KC and a couple Chias
(who were scared to death of the Snowager but soon got over it) and they were
all taken to the hospital. All three of them had mild frostbite (duh) and Scarlet
had to have an EXPENSIVE surgery to get the feeling back in her legs, but she
was fine. Although Ruby and Scarlet are now sick... LOVEsick....
