Yes, we've all seen them--Newbie tips. But, if you stop and think about it,
the tips are all by seasoned pros, and never by anyone in the same boat... well,
HERE I AM! I've only been playing for two months, so I'm not sure if I qualify
for a REAL Newbie, but closer than most who write these types of artcicles....
It's time for us Newbies to come together and show Neopia what we can do with
support from others new to NeoPets... after all, one day, WE will be the seasoned
pros, too. ;)
I remember the first time I did a user/pet lookup on someone else, and I was
ASTOUNDED by what I saw! Intelligence of over 150, all the stats in CAPS, and
even faerie pets!!! I had no idea of how much of Neopia I had yet to discover,
which brings me to my first tip.
EXPLORE!!!
It may seem like a waste of time to explore every single link on NeoPets, but
trust me, IT WILL PAY OFF!!! I had no idea about the Wheels of Excitement
and Mediocrity,
which have been HUGE Neopoint sources (well, OK, the Wheel of Excitement only...
LOL) you discover new ways to afford things, great sources of tips and Neopoints,
and plus, with every single page you go to, you have more of a chance of getting
a message at the top of the screen saying you have found something. (I got SIX
Codestones that way!)
BE CAUTIOUS!!!
And I speak from experience on that one!!! I originally had a red Acara, and
was a little to curious with the Meerca plushies.... I then saved up all my
NP to make her strawberry, but after searching for days and days for a paint
brush, I found out that she couldn't be painted that colour! Thanks to being
more cautious the next time around, I saved up NP for nearly a month to get
back those I lost, and painted her gold.
QUESTS AREN'T ALWAYS AS GREAT AS THEY SEEM!!!
I remember when I got my 1st quest from the Water faerie it seemed to good to
be true! All I had to do was get a measly item, and -POOF!- my pet would be
blessed! Sadly, I found out it wasn't that simple.
THE 2 QUEST RULES I SWEAR BY
1. If it takes up more than 1/4 of your NP and you are not very rich, DON'T
DO THE QUEST!!! Usually, the prize you receive will not compensate it!
2. The Snow Faerie and Kitchen Quest Dude may seem easier because you can use
the shop Wizard, but they often require multiple (and EXPENSIVE) items. If it
seems like too much, it probably is! Don't worry, If you don't complete the
quest, the damage will not be long lasting.
SHOP AROUND!!!
Before you make any big purchase (i.e. Paint Brush, Codestone) SHOP AROUND!
If the High Street carries the Item that you are looking for, go there first.
They always have everything pretty close to the suggested prices, and you can
be sure you won't get cheated out of your hard earned NP! Also, they restock
a lot. If for some reason, you can't find what you need, go to the Marketplace.
(First make sure you aren't on a Faerie Quest, b/c you can't use the shop wizard
otherwise). When you use the Shop Wizard, search multiple times, as he searches
a different section every time. Then, make a list of the top five lowest prices
on your item, and make a note of the shop's names. Unless you need it right
away, wait a day or two, and if you still REALLY need the item, go back to your
list. (Don't worry, Marketplace Shops don't sell out very fast). Happy Buying!
BE LIKE A LITTLE KID
Play lots of games!!! The best games for quick and easy NP are Meerca Chase,
Korbat's Lab, Bullseye (although I'm not sure if it's there anymore), and Kiko
Match II. Unless you are very confident, stay away from the Luck/Chance games
for a little if you are poor, as they require NP to play, and if you lose, there's
no point!
And finally... HAVE FUN!!! Remember that NeoPets is there for you to have
fun, not kill yourself over! If you make a bad decision, so what?! Any damage
done can be fixed with a little hard work and help from your Neofriends/Guild.
