VirtuPets Space Station
We were at the fringe of Haunted Woods, just outside. I turned to my pets
triumphantly. "Well, that's that. We went through every world. And some adventure
it was too! We can finally have peace. And-" I winked "-we finished our task.
We all got along every step of the way. And I have a feeling you'll know more
about the worlds than the teachers! For instance, where was the beast hiding?
She won't know that. She probably never even went to the lair! Or-"
DorthyAnne cut off my sentence, as she cried "Not every world! We still have
VirtuPets Space Station!"
Santannaa snorted. "VirtuPets Space Station," she scoffed. "There's nothing
there," she said indignantly.
DorthyAnne shook her head firmly. "Then we didn't travel all the worlds,"
she said stubbornly.
Mairey threw up her hands in exasperation. "Of for the love of- Fine! We'll
go to VirtuPets Space Station." Then, under her breath, she muttered, "Studying
the place would be more fun in a textbook than real life!" She stomped away.
I glanced around. "How will we get there?"
There was silence. Santannaa and DorthyAnne cursed as we all turned our gaze
towards them. DorthyAnne dipped her wing and Mairey slid on. Jainny jumped up
after her. I went on Santannaa and we flew off.

NeoPets scurried out of the way as two objects went hurtling to the ground.
I stood up shakily. I groaned and limped. "Okay, so maybe that was a bad idea."
DorthyAnne squirmed from beneath Mairey and Jainny. "Get off me you blasted
NeoPets!" she snarled.
"The sad thing is we hadn't been flying for even two minutes when we toppled
over and DorthyAnne and I couldn't carry you anymore," Santannaa muttered. "Well,
how do we get to the Space Station now?"
***
I stared at the pilot impatiently. "OK, OK! We get it. Now can we just go?"
The pilot gave us a scathing glance and stomped away with a huff. I stared at
the space ship. "Wow," Mairey breathed. "This is beautiful."
I pressed the buttons. "Get ready for takeoff!" Finally, I saw that it was
working. I looked at the window. The ship was blasting off!
We couldn't stop laughing during the first couple of hours. Our meal floated
around and we swam towards it, munching on it while it was still in air. We
floated all over the place and played some games.
We had to strap ourselves to the bed otherwise we'd wake up bumping our head
on something. "You know," Jainny cried as we floated around. She gave a small
giggle, and then laughed. "This is the most fun thing yet!"
I nodded and a few hours later we landed on VirtuPets Space Station. I stepped
outside and scanned the world-an old habit. I flinched as a horn boomed out,
"Remember, it's only three weeks till lint inspection. Make sure your tumble
dryer is clean today!" I smiled. "Who knows?" I murmured to my pets. "Maybe
we will have an adventure in this world." I winked slyly and Santannaa snorted
dubiously. DorthyAnne glared at her angrily.
"Where should we go?" Santannaa asked smugly. "There are only so many places."
DorthyAnne narrowed her eyes. We resumed our tour and soon we visited almost
all of the places. We got frustrated with Splat a Sloth quickly, when we kept
losing. We didn't buy anything at the shops; we found nothing much of interest.
We tried Code Breakers and Gormball too. None of those turned out to be any
different than Splat a Sloth. We quickly got angry and left. None of the shops
were much interesting either. Even DorthyAnne seemed unimpressed. "OK, maybe
it's not like all the other worlds we went to but it's still a world!"
Mairey glared at her. "Nobody's going to care if we went to VirtuPets Space
Station or not."
DorthyAnne played with her clothes. "I just wanted to see why nobody really
visited. I-" She broke off suddenly.
A dark shadow was shoving Grundos forward, cracking a whip. They looked miserable,
hungry, and beaten. We stared in horror. "Adopt
a Grundo," I murmured. The figure was tall and large and he wore a cape
over his shoulders. Soon they all disappeared. I heard the sound of a whip cracking
and a cry of pain.
"Sloth," Mairey murmured. "The Space Faeries enemy."
I looked at her sharply. "What?"
She shook her head suddenly. "That scene brought him to mind, that's all."
I nodded. Just then, I brightened. "Hey! Today's Friday!"
They all looked at me uncomprehendingly. I continued. "The Neopian Times."
We all ran into the nearest shop, and asked to buy the latest edition of Neopian
Times. When he asked why I didn't have one, I told him we left home and were
on vacation. I flipped through, and my NeoPets peered over my shoulder. We read
some stories. There were some New Series I wanted to read, others that made
us yawn.
We were looking at The Neopian Times when it began to glow. "Hey, what the--"
I started. Then, we disappeared leaving behind a very confused and bewildered
shopkeeper.
We reappeared in a spaceship, chains tying us to the wall. I heard a noise
and twisted my body around to get a good look at my captor. He was the slave
master we had met earlier, when he had been hauling Grundos. He looked at us.
"What do you want from us? We don't even know you!"
He stared at us each in turn. Then, he looked at me. "Crysania," he said quietly.
His eyes stared at mine.
I gasped at the sound of my name. My eyes widened and I gave a strangled croak.
Not even my NeoPets knew my name. *Note that this is not my name in real life*
I closed my eyes. How did he know? Then, his voice echoed in my thoughts. "I
am Norelle."
Norelle... Norelle… My eyes fluttered, and I felt the floor come up to meet
me. I fainted.
When I woke up, I saw Norelle standing over me. His face remained cold and
impassive. I groaned. "So that's what this is all about? Revenge?"
"I want you back," he said simply.
I choked and gagged. "You what? I left you! And…" My voice trailed off. He
put a hand on my shoulder and I felt myself relax somewhat, and then he hurled
me against the wall.
"Still as stubborn as ever."
"Still as horrible as ever!"
There was a hushed silence, and finally Santannaa asked softly, "What's going
on? I don't understand--"
"I guess you could say we were old friends," I said quietly. "I guess you
could say he was…weird. He loved science. I mean really loved it. He'd spend
every day of his life working on experiments. He took me to his lab once. You
should see all the creations he had made! It was then that I realised the truth.
He had no friend but me, and I guess we did go out for a couple of days. And
at any rate, he ordered one of his creations to attack me because I didn't want
to be his friend anymore. He was cruel, cruel!" I shivered. "I never thought
I'd make it out alive, but I did. And we never saw each other since. I don't
think he has friends now either."
He struck me across the face, and I felt dizzy. My head was spinning and I
groaned. The chains prevented any attack I had in mind. Norelle smiled grimly.
"A pretty fetch, she would have made an excellent specimen… But, that was so
long ago. You will be my slave! And because of your folly, your pets will pay
the price!"
My eyes began to flash and my face went white to the lips. I ground my teeth.
"Specimen?" I whispered quietly. "Specimen? You know, you have some nerve coming
here and saying you'll have me back- which, in my opinion, is a joke! But threatening
to destroy my pets?"
He nodded. "No, not a threat. A promise. You will not get away for the fool
you made me. I will have my revenge, and you will serve me!"
I sneered. "So I got to you that much, huh?"
He stiffened and his face darkened. "I will not let anyone make a fool of
me."
I smiled and purred. "So I really made you mad by breaking up with you? You
were hurt that much? If I didn't know better, I'd say you were sensitive!"
My pets looked at each other, and they took my hint. Santannaa blasted the
chains from her wrists. I continued. "If you're as strong as you say you are,
then I shouldn't have gotten to you so much, right? But, then again, I was you're
only friend…"
Jainny blasted him from behind and he went flying into the wall. I cringed
as the wall shattered. He cried out in pain and I stared at him. DorthyAnne
put her hands together and then separated them. As she did so, a long, glowing
stick of flame began to appear in her hands. She flashed it in an arc, and flames
leaped at Norelle. He screamed again and looked at us.
As our eyes locked, I saw fear in them. But that impression was gone just
as quickly as it had appeared, leaving me to doubt if it had ever been there.
He began to chant, and a dark glow formed around DorthyAnne. She screamed in
agony, and Norelle calmly made a squeezing gesture. DorthyAnne struggled to
move, her screams echoing alarmingly in the wall.
Santannaa leaped at Norelle and broke his hold on the spell by snapping her
jaws around his wrist. He cried out and held out his good hand. Santannaa froze
where she was, unable to move a muscle in her body.
I looked around and walked over to Norelle. I grabbed his shoulders and spun
him around to face me. Jainny made her attack. She took a deep breath and blew.
A cold gust of wind hit Norelle from behind; ice began to freeze his body. I
let him fall.
We looked at each other. My pets were staring at me expectantly. Mairey raised
her brows. "Crysania?"
I sighed. "Hold on, hold on. When we get home, I'll tell you all about it.
Now, we finally traveled the world! Don't spoil it!"
