The Proposition
The Uber Light Faerie was having her daily meeting with the lesser Light Faeries,
when suddenly, the Uber Dark Faerie herself strode into the room. She also had
her whole assembly of lesser Dark Faeries, smirking along with their leader.
"What do YOU want?" asked the Uber Light Faerie.
It was well known in the faerie court that the Uber dark and Light Faeries
could not get along much of the time, unless the Faerie Queen assigned a project
for them to do together.
"I came to ask you a question. It is a simple yes or no question. There will
be no maybes or I'll think about its. You will have only 5 minutes to answer
it. You may talk among you lesser faeries if you can't decide. They will also
be in on the deal," said the Uber Dark Faerie.
The Uber Light Faerie was startled. What could she want? All she did was be
lazy all day and make fun of the poor Neopians. She couldn't see also, why the
Dark Faerie had gotten up before noon. She had always been late to the faerie
meetings or was never there.
"So please tell me, what is your question?" she said.
"It's simple, but if you go in it you can not get out."
"I JUST WANT TO HEAR THE QUESTION! NOT FIVE BILLION EXCUSES AND RULES!"
"All right! The Dark Faeries and I would like to challenge you to a contest.
It will consist of 7 parts. The winner of the most parts will win the freedom
to insult the other. The other team must not say anything back though. Those
are the ground rules. So, yes or no?"
"I think I will say..."
The Answer
"...I accept," the Uber Light Faerie said.
All the Dark Faeries gasped. It was also well none that sometimes the Uber
Light Faerie was a chicken.
"You have chosen your own fate. These is the one and only rule: 1. You must
pre-pick the six faeries. When you hear what the task will be you may not change,"
said the Uber Dark Faerie.
"That isn't fair. You will already know what the tasks are," said a lesser
Light Faerie.
"The other Uber Faeries and the Faerie Queen have written on small pieces
of paper the tasks they think we should do. We will just draw when the task
has finished," said the Uber Dark Faerie.
"Well, what will our first task be?" the Uber Light Faerie asked.
"Let's draw it now. You have your six faeries picked out right?"
"Yes. The will be my counsel."
"Okay. Well, it seems our first task was done by the Fire Faerie. She wants
us to..."
A New Task
"Get three Neopians with Gelerts, to let us put them in a new kind of paintbrush
paint. We must not force them is one thing it says we must not do," the
Uber Dark Faerie said.
"Well, can we start?" asked a lesser Dark Faerie.
"Yes. 1, 2, 3, GO!"
They all watched in the orb as they saw the faeries hurry through the Neopians.
After at least an hour, the Light Faerie flew as fast as she could into the
room. The Dark Faerie was right at her heels. But, she crossed the doorway first.
"Yeah!"
"Good going!" was all that could be heard from the Light Faeries.
"Draw the next card," said the Uber Light Faerie.
"It seems the water faerie had written this one. It says you must find twenty
Healing Potions, I to XX. You have a time limit of two hours on it and you cannot
use shop wizard. Are you ready?"
"Yes," the faeries said together, gritting their teeth together at each other.
"1, 2, 3, GO!"
They again watched the orb. This time after one hour and fifty-five minutes
the Dark Faerie flew in. They waited for five more minutes. But, twenty seconds
later, the Light Faerie flew in.
"You are late, the Dark Faeries win," sassily said a Dark Faerie.
"Well, go on and draw the next card," said the Uber Light Faerie.
"Okay, this one is from the Air Faerie. She says..."
A Suspicious Circumstance
"...you must get twenty-five Air Faeries without using shop wizard,"
said the Uber Dark Faerie.
"Okay, we are ready," said the two next contestants.
"1, 2, 3, GO!"
They watched again, this time using the mirror. But this time, after just
20 minutes, the Dark Faerie flew in. The Light Faerie came back forty minutes
later.
"You had to have cheated! Nobody can get twenty-five Air Faeries that fast,"
said the lesser Light Faerie that the Dark Faerie had been racing against.
"Well, I did. So, I must be faster than you. Learn to be able to take losing."
"Okay, next task," the Uber Light Faerie said.
"It seems to be by the Earth Faerie. You must be able to complete the Earth
level of the Faerie Caves within twenty minutes. OK, ready you two?
"Yes."
"1, 2, 3, GO!"
They watched through the mirror and saw that the Light Faerie was much faster
than the Dark Faerie. She came back in ten minutes. The Dark Faerie did it in
eleven minutes.
"Good. This turning out to be a really great match. What is the next card
say?"
Then suddenly, a knock came on the door.
The Intervention
"The Faerie Queen requests your audience," said a lesser water faerie
pointing at the two Uber Faerie.
"All right. We are coming," said the Uber Light Faerie.
They walked up to the castle and met the Queen.
"I will not let this contest go on any longer. It seems that one of you faeries,
Dark, has cheated. Only I noticed. She had a Neopian do her catching of Air Faeries, instead of herself. Because of this, you, are to be proclaimed the
loser, and the Light Faeries the winners."
"But... that isn't..." the Uber Dark Faerie stuttered.
"I don't want to hear it. Go tell the Dark Faeries and Light Faeries this.
And, Dark, I hope you will get out of bed for our meeting tomorrow."
"Yes. I will."
"Okay. Well, enjoy your prize Light," the Faerie Queen said while holding
back a laugh.
"We will have a rematch Light! I promise you that!" screamed the Uber Dark Faerie at the Uber Light Faerie.
"You're such a lazy pig!" she yelled back.
After that, the Light and Dark Faeries have not have had a rematch ever since.
