I wake up in a gold room, full of sunshine. The tree right outside my window
had two birds singing their beautiful song. I roll over out of bed to find my
first Neopet I have ever had, Ace, with The Neopian Times 41 in his mouth. "Thanks
Ace," I said sluggishly.
"No problem, I will be outside getting trained by Blade, okay?" Ace replied
"Sure go ahead," I returned as I began to become more aware of my surroundings.
I walked out of my room, and into Ace's Lounge, another gold room. Actually,
our house is only made out of gold and only consists of four rooms. I went over
to the table and pulled up one of Ace's arm chairs. I skimmed over the front
page, I saw a Grundo, the regular stock market tips at the bottom, and a Neopian
Bakery advertisement. I was about to turn the page when my eye caught the strangest
picture I have ever seen. I leaned forward to make sure what I saw was really
there. It really was there, it was a baby Neopet that was crying! I proceeded
to turn to the section that had the story and began to read it. I noticed that
it said all of the Neopets cringed because their owners were so ecstatic about
getting a baby paint brush to paint their pet. I did respect the article for
it's point of view, because it should be the Neopets decision whether or not
to be painted, not the owners. When finishing the article I began to think,
is it really true that no Neopets want to be a baby and what would happen to
them? I called for my Neopets.
Jet, a blue female Lupe, came into the room and asked, "You called for me?"
"Yes I did, but wait for the other two," I replied.
About a minute later Ace and Blade came in. Blade, a fire Lupe, always seemed
to put a feeling of insecurity into you when he would look at you, but I knew
he would do nothing. "Sit down my friends, I have an important question to ask
you," I said in a voice that made them all very interested.
"Yes? What is it?" Jet began to ask excitedly.
"Well, I read this article in The Neopian Times and noticed that there was
a baby paint brush. Now I am sure you have heard of this, because that is what
it said in the article. But my question for you is, would you want to become
a baby again?" I said very slowly to keep their attention.
Blade was the first to respond. "There is no way in all of Neopia you will
ever get me near a Baby Paint Brush!" Blade yelled as he got up, threatening
me with his teeth.
"Whoa there boy! It was just a question I am not planning to paint any of
you, at least not yet," I said commandingly as Blade sat back down.
Jet seeming very worried of whether her answer was a good one or not said,
"What in Neopia are you talking about? I have never heard of such a paint brush,
but I would want to become one, but I am worried of what will happen to me."
"Thank you. Jet and Blade you may go back to whatever you were doing," I said.
Blade and Jet did as I said and shut the door on their way out.
Ace was sitting with his eyes closed. As I turned to him, I noticed he began
to shiver. I decided not to say anything and let him talk when he was ready.
About five minutes later, he opened his eyes and took a long sigh. "Master,"
Ace said, "I would be interested in seeing what I would look like being painted
a baby, only under one condition."
"And what is it?" I asked.
Ace stood up, and walked to me. I rubbed him behind the ears, to help him relax.
Ace, noticing that Jet was eavesdropping on our conversation, moved to the door
extremely slowly not to make a noise. Ace opened the door and growled at Jet.
Jet in the sudden surprise screamed at the top of her lungs and ran away. As
Ace turned around he noticed I was covering my ears from the scream and said,
"Sorry, but this is for your ears only."
"And I will be glad to listen once my ears are able to hear again," I said
jokingly.
Ace jumped up onto my lap and sat down. "The one condition is that after you
paint me, you must paint me back to my red colour 5 minutes after you paint
me with the baby paint brush," Ace said dominantly.
"Deal," I said and Ace went out of the room.
Still sitting in Ace's chair, I thought about where I could get the supplies
as quick as possible. After about an hour I went outside. It must have been
about noon, because the sun was right above my head. I got on my bike and went
to Neopia Central to meet a good old friend of mine who was in the paint brush
business. When I found his store, I went straight in. He had increased the size
of his store. It was now about three times bigger than what it used to be and
must have had 3,000 paint brushes. There was also a nice mellow music station
on. Keeping the talking short I asked for two paint brushes and left. As I came
to my home, I saw Ace, Blade, and Jet all waiting outside for me. "Ace, I said,
we have to run an errand. Blade watch Jet for me we will be back in about two
hours."
"Okay," he said turning toward Jet.
When Ace and I arrived at the rainbow Pool, we were surprised to find that
no one was there. "Are you ready?" I asked as we both went and sat down next
to the pool.
I put the paint brush in the pool and the magical water changed colours. "I'm
ready," Ace said and he went into the pool.
He dove underwater and after a few minutes came back up. He got out and looked
at me. He didn't change! I put my head down wondering what went wrong. Suddenly,
the ground began to shake and a bright blue light surrounded Ace. Ace's eyes
widened and then a huge cloud of smoke surrounded him. I didn't hear anything,
I couldn't see anything, and someone who just pulled up was watching in awe.
After about ten seconds the light exploded which completely blinded me. When
the smoke cleared, I saw the smallest Lupe I have ever seen. I walked over and
squatted to get a closer look. Ace looked up at me and asked in a high young
Lupe's voice, "Master is that you?"
"Yes, it's me. Are you okay? Did anything else change?" I asked worriedly.
"No, I am fine," Ace replied, "I can't remember what happened, I just kind
of fell asleep, and woke up to see you a lot bigger than I am."
"Have you ever read any books?" I asked to see if he still had his memory.
"Ya, I read A Tale Of Two Lupes just yesterday."
"Good, now I have one more favour for you. Please go and get that other paint brush
that I had and bring it to me, but use your fastest speed." I said.
"Sure," he said and got into his racing stance.
"Go!" I yelled.
Ace, because of his great speed, vanished and reappeared with the paint brush.
He laid it down at my feet, sat down, and looked right at me. I couldn't believe
at how small he was, I put out my hand and Ace walked right onto it. He was
so small that he could fit in the palm of my hand! He looked extremely cute.
The person that had arrived earlier came over and said, "Awww, he is adorable,"
and walked off with her pet.
"Did it hurt at all?" I asked
Ace replied, "No just felt strange, I am ready to go back now.
Jokingly I said, "I like the way you are and I will just keep you the way you
are."
Ace didn't realise it was a joke and charged at me yelling, "No!"
Ace did the Lupe Prowl and vanished from my sight. He reappeared in front of
me and swung his paw at my pace. Hitting me head on, he knocked the air out
of me and I feel down. Ace, then, came right on top of me. "Gosh Ace! Why did
you do that, I was joking?!" I yelled as I stood up and wiped myself off.
Ace now realising it was a joke, put his ears back and his tail in between
his legs and said, "I'm So Sorry!"
"Don't worry about it, at least now I know that your strength wasn't weakened
either," I said still gasping for air.
Ace and I went back to the pool and he turned back to his normal red colour
and his normal size, again. He said, "Thanks," as we got on my bike.
I began to pedal home, and I began to realise how much money this cost me.
I said to Ace, "You know this cost me a lot of money, so I don't think we will
be able to build a bedroom for you for a while."
Ace, who was on my shoulders at the time, looked down at me and said, "That's
fine, at least we really know what happens now if a Neopet gets painted with
a Baby Paint Brush. I thought it was pretty neat, but I like the regular old
me better."
"I do to," I agreed as we made a left down our street.
Ace looking ahead said optimistically, "You know what, don't let this whole
experience go to waist, why don't you send an article to The Neopian Times!"
I slowed my pedaling of my bike and said, "But I am not that good of a writer."
"So what, at least we know the truth and that is something that should be
published, I will even help you."
"Okay," I said, "I will give it a try."
We pulled up to my house. Ace jumped off my shoulders and waited for me to
put my bike on the side of the house. Ace and I both went into the house, sat
down in Ace's Lounge on the two new wooden chairs we got for him. Then both
Blade and Jet came into the room. Jet asked, "Where were you guys?"
Completely ignoring her, Ace got paper and a pen, placed it in front of me,
and sat next to me. Blade came up onto the left side of the table and laid down,
while Jet came up on the right side and laid down. They both looked at the paper.
Ace nudged my arm saying, "Let's start, I can't wait."
I nodded my head as Blade and Jet looked at one another confused. I picked
up the pen, and positioned the paper in a more comfortable position in front
of me. Blade and Jet looked at the paper waiting to see what I was going to
write, and Ace sat next to me thinking of what to write. Without another word
I began to write my article:
"I WOKE UP IN A GOLD ROOM, FULL OF SUNSHINE…"
