"Crash!" the sound of a falling trash can fills
your ears. You run down to the kitchen to see what is wrong. Could it
be a wild Meerca...or a...burglar? Your fears are quickly put to rest
as a Poogle and a Gelert run between your legs knocking you to the ground.
"Not again! You two go to bed!" grumbling you make your way up the stairs
and try to get back to sleep. It happened again... your pets got the Midnight Crazies.
Exactly what are the Midnight Crazies? The Midnight Crazies
happen when your pet or pets wakes up in the middle of the night and starts
playing around. Either it's knocking over your blue vase or licking your
face at 2:00 in the morning. Having been woken several times by the crazies,
I have a little insight on what it is and how to end it. When several
talks with Dr. Gelert at the Neopian hospital yielded little help. I decided
to do a little research and this is what I learned. First of all the Midnight
Crazies is not a true disease, it is when your pet has a bunch of built
up energy. This can happen if you are gone all day, or if when you are
home you never play with your pets. Some pets, like the Poogle and Gelert
for example, have a very high energy level and just taking them for a
walk isn't going to burn off any excess energy. When this happens they
might wake up in the middle of the night and start running around. Waking
you or your other pets or, and this has happened, the neighbours! Even
if you've never experienced this annoying event...watch out you could
be next.
There are several ways to combat the crazies. First,
you need to make sure you play with your pet. If you have a Lenny or a
Quiggle a little stroll around the park will do wonders. Quite a few pets,
Unis in particular, really don't like to get dirty, or *gasp* be seen
breaking a sweat. If your pet fits this description aerobics tapes or
yoga is the answer. Now there are some pets, like my own Poogle and Gelert,
who just won't get tired. After a straight week of 1 a.m. wake up calls
I took action. We get up early and everybody goes for a walk/jog in the
park.
Later, while my Usul and Aisha are recovering, my Poogle,
Gelert, and I go to Grundo's Gym and play racket ball or swim. During
the day I make it a point to toss them toys while watching the Battledome
matches on TV. After just one day of this the rambunctious pair fell into
a deep, long sleep.
Yes, the Midnight Crazies can be fun to watch. It's quite
funny when a cloud Gelert runs through the neighbourhood with a waste
basket on her head. However, dealing with it is a whole other story. If
you follow my simple guide to combating the crazies, never again will
Luke the Hyper Lupe have to spend the night in the Neolodge. Sleep tight
all.
