Neo Hospital Problem

Lucy and Linda, the human twins were walking to medical school one day. As soon as they got to the Neopian Hospital, where their classes were held, that day wasn't going to go too well. Their teacher, a doctor by the name of Mr. Madison, was in one of those lazy moods. Usually that meant trouble.

They were right. The central desk computer in the emergency office was ringing, signaling it had a message waiting. It kept ringing, and ringing, and ringing, but Dr. Madison didn't make a move to answer it.

"Aren't you going to answer it?" Lucy asked.

"Nope, I don't feel like it Lucy," Dr. Madison answered.

"But it must be an emergency!" Linda insisted.

"You remember that the e-mail in that computer is only meant for emergencies! Please answer it!"

When the doctor refused again, the twins ran over to the computer and pressed the receive button that was flashing. Using voice mail, Linda greeted the person on the other line.

"Neopian Hospital for sick and injured pets, how may I help you?"

"Who is this? You're talking to Nurse Janina, in Mystery Island, where is Dr. Madison?" the nurse inquired to Linda.

"This is Linda Calhoun, a student from the medical classes that are held here. The doctor, Dr. Madison, said he wasn't going to answer anything. But me and my twin sister are open, and we've had enough practice, can we please help you?" Linda pleaded.

"Oh, all right!" the nurse replied, "But be ready in an hour, I'm sending the injured pets over on a boat, with guards."

"What's the problem, Nurse Janina? What happened?" Linda asked.

"A van carrying at least 100 NeoPets that were being taken to the pound was in a traffic accident, we can't handle all the pets here on the island, so we need you to treat 50 of the injured pets," Nurse Janina said.

The twins spent the hour that they had making sure that the rooms they would be using had everything they needed. That hour went quickly, and they rushed to the harbor to take the pets to the hospital. They took 50 ambulances for each of the NeoPets. The pets had to be carried to shore using bamboo stretchers.

The pets were put in the ambulances, and off they went, quick as was humanly possible, to the Neopian Hospital. Dr. Madison, how ever, had gone home for the day, not caring at all if any of the pets were injured. The twins used the next two to three hours treating the poor NeoPets. When they were done, they talked to Nurse Janina, telling her all the pets would have to stay over night for health benefits. The next morning, they got the pets fed and taken to the harbor, where Nurse Janina was waiting for them.

"Thank you!!!!!" she cried with an outburst of joy, and awarded them plaques that indicated that they were now licensed doctors. She also gave them each 100,000 NP in cash, enough to start a family. On top of that she each gave them 300 Neggs, Usukis, and other luxury items.

"You said that these pets were going to the pound, didn't you doctor?" Lucy asked.

"Yes they are," the nurse replied, "why do you ask?"

"I was wondering if I could keep the pets, Nurse Janina," Lucy said.

"All fifty of them?" the nurse asked.

"No," Lucy continued, "all 100 of them."

"What?" the nurse asked.

"Well, since they don't have any homes, I was thinking of opening a NeoPets Shelter," Lucy said timidly.

"I don't think they would rather spend their time in a cage, do you?"

"All right, they're yours!" Nurse Janina answered.

"Yes!!!!" Lucy shouted.

Conclusion: During the next month, Lucy opened a shelter, and made all 100 of the pets good food, and they soon became the happiest pets in the world. As for Dr. Madison, he was fired for not realising his duty as a doctor, and ended up pumping gas for a living. The twins treated injured pets, but Lucy ended up quitting to have more time for the shelter.
