Adoption - Not a New Problem

Many People everyday have been abandoning their pets, or creating new ones when many could be adopted. A lot of Neopians have been doing better at adopting instead of creating but the problem of abandoned pets is getting worse.

Since the previous articles, by lgwaterpolo, mandiwandi88, missy02, and a few other Neopians, the rate of creating and abandoning has decreased, but the problem still exists. We all know what we can do, but half of us CHOOSE not to help. If we all could just adopt one or two pets that need our care, this problem could be virtually wiped out.

I own four pets. Two which I have adopted and two I have created. If half of you could maintain a balance in our budgets to have four pets, you can adopt two and have two that you created. Or if you already have three pets, adopt one only if you think you can handle four pets. If you can afford one pet adopt one, don't create! If you can afford two, adopt one and create one. This will help create order to things and will help many poorly treated pets. Again, this is only one way to help.

Another way you may be able to help is if you adopt, be sure it is a type of pet you'd like and could take care of. Some types need more care than others. Make sure you are up for the challenge and the responsibility! More than 30% of all adopted pets are actually "REABANDONED"! This just hurts the pet more than any poor treatment ever could. So take your time in choosing a pet. Make sure you get one you will keep.

It is also understood that many owners can't take care of their pets, and must abandon them in order for them to find a good home and to be well taken care of. I have been in this predicament once a long time ago with my pets, but at the time, I didn't know that there was a simple solution to this. I was lucky that my pets were adopted to good homes though, however, not all pets are quite that lucky. If you must place your pet(s) up for adoption for common reasons (such as money problems, that you can't give them good care, or the fact that you are leaving NeoPets for good, ask a friend if they'll adopt one of them (if they have the room), or put up an ad that you need someone to adopt them. Place down their names, species, age, level, and gender. This will sometimes help. So when you put them up for adoption, all they have to do is search for them in the search engine by name.

Also, make sure that you know that some NeoPets NEVER get adopted. Some may never make it out of the center alive. If you read the area when you go to abandon you will find this out. So please if you care about your pets, make sure that they have a chance to survive.

My two adopted pets; aquasoilder22, and sparkly_night , are two of my best four pets I have. I pamper them just as much as my two other pets. I wanted them to have the life that their old owners couldn't give them. You should want that also for your created and or adopted pets as well. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THOSE WHO ADOPT PETS.
