I wasn't always like this. No, not at all. I was as good a Faerie as
you can get. You know how Faeries are born? The Faerie Queen plants something
very special and magical into soil and gets an Uber Faerie to bless it.
I was to be a Fire Faerie so the Faerie Queen planted a burning, magical
red ruby and got the Uber Fire Faerie to bless it.
But something must have gone wrong, or I wouldn't be the Dark Faerie
I am today. Maybe that dreaded Uber Fire Faerie, Feria, screwed up her
charm by saying the wrong words. Or maybe the ruby had a hole in it. I
myself believe the most popular excuse of all: that a worm was inside
that ruby so that it was indeed defective. The Faerie Queen must have
missed the worm. She couldn't have made the ruby defective on purpose...No,
the Queen was too full of "goodness", as they call it, for that.
The worm theory makes sense, because throughout my life as a fire Faerie
whenever I was supposed to do something good I'd feel something wriggle
in the deepest part of my heart that would tell me not to do it. So instead
of putting out the fire at the Neolodge, I'd find myself doing everything
in my power to make it grow. And of course eventually the Queen would
find out and give me that usual speech. The worst time was when I was
suspended from Faerieland for a week.
I think being a Fire Faerie only made my evil condition worse, because
Fire Faeries are known for their hot tempers. I had a rather bad one.
I remember fondly how I threw a fireball at this extremely annoying Faerie
She dodged it, but not fast enough to keep her hair from burning away.
Fire Faeries are also very sensitive about looks. That girl was flaming
mad at me. Her mother was a close relative to the Uber Fire Faerie and
used her influence to bring me before the Faerie Queen.
I wasn't given any speech this time. The Queen just shook her head and
apologized to me while I stood there, openmouthed and stunned. I was expecting
to lose my title as Faerie, or something severe like that.
"You were meant to be a Dark Faerie It's in your blood. No way to change
it. So, please stand still while I perform a rather complicated charm,"
she murmured. The Queen lifted her arms and concentrated hard.
A purple streak of light came out of her finger tips and into mine. Have
you ever seen black light? Well, it came at me full force and surrounded
me. I felt paralyzed, I was too shocked to move. Then the light abruptly
disappeared and I found myself with dark skin and purple hair.
Oh, it felt wonderful. I knew this was what I was meant to be. Now I
could release my darkness freely and let that little worm take control.
I felt my new long, flowing purple cape in glee. The clothes were so beautiful,
and at least now they wouldn't burn off like they did when I was a Fire
Faerie.
The Uber Dark Faerie came to the Queen's palace shortly after to meet
me and greet me in person. This was the first case of one Faerie turning
into another so she had to meet me in person. And so this is the story
of me... revealed for the first time to the public. But just because I'm
part Fire Faerie doesn't mean I won't curse your pet... (I'll try not
to!)
