There are many ways to help pound pets. The best way is to adopt one
as your NeoPet! Don't create, adopt! But you can only have four pets,
and many of you already have three or four NeoPets. Another good way is
to promote NeoPet adoption when you can. I don't know how many NeoPets
are in the pound, but in the pound it says there are over 100. I suspect
the number is far more! The best way to help them, I think, involves painting
them. If you have four pets you will need to create another account to
do this.
To start, buy a bunch of Christmas Paintbrushes. These are very affordable,
well under 1000 NP. Buy as many as you can afford, keeping in mind that
you will need to pay to adopt and abandon the pets you will help. Why
Christmas Paintbrushes instead of codestones or PetPets? All of these
help the pets, but out of them the paintbrushes are best. Codestones are
very pricey, and although they can raise the skills of pets, there are
many level 2 pets and strong pets in the pound already! If you find a
codestone it is best to sell it and use the NP to buy four or so Christmas
paintbrushes! PetPets do not show up when someone is searching for pets
in the pound, and if someone finds out a NeoPet has a PetPet, they may
adopt it, take away its PetPet, and abandon it again.
Next, go to the pound to adopt needy pets you will paint. You have to
adopt pets that can be painted with the Christmas Paintbrush. Luckily,
many pets that are less likely to be adopted can be painted with Christmas
paintbrushes, such as Nimmos, Eyries, and Buzzes. Try to adopt the more
common species, and only adopt pets that have low levels. Other good pets
to adopt are ones with very bad names. A Nimmo named Butterfly_Wings is
more likely to be adopted than one named dummmmbbb or dfdfdd74383.
Now to take care of the pets. Many pets in the pound were neglected by
their former owners, and many need to be fed. If a pet is dying you will
need to feed it a food item, such as Neocola or a red apple. Then go to
the soup kitchen and feed all the pets until they're bloated. Buy some
toys and maybe some books and play or read to these pets. Remember, this
is the only human they've had much contact with since they were abandoned,
and they haven't had much fun in their lives either. When you've done
this, it's time to start painting! Go to the Rainbow Pool and paint all
the pets.
Now it's time to say good-bye to the pets. You will have to put them
in the pound, but they will not stay there for long. Go to the pound and
go to the abandon desk. Although the pets will be very sad that you are
abandoning, they will soon find it did them more good than bad! I've painted
and returned 16 pound pets so far (On my other account). All of them were
adopted in a few minutes! If a pet is not adopted quickly, then post a
message or two on the chat boards. It will soon find a home! (You can
find out if a pet has been adopted by typing its name into the search
box. A profile of the pet will be shown, and it will say whether the pet
is in the pound or has an owner. If it has an owner it will show who the
owner is! You could even write the adopter a thank-you Neomail.)
If a lot of Neopians start doing this, the pound will have many Christmas-painted
pets! That will actually be good. People who are just starting NeoPets
will choose to adopt a pet from the pound rather than create one, because
they will know they can find a cool painted one instead of the normal
colours! Hopefully, many of you will try painting some pets and help the
homeless NeoPets in the pound find new homes!
