A New Family
I waited anxiously in the kitchen, munching on the Chocolate Chia Mandy
had given me. I have nothing against Chias, but this Chia was delicious!
(It was only chocolate, don't worry.) Mandy had said my new sisters would
be home soon from the Training School to meet me. I wondered what they
would be like.
Sylandria flew down and stole a piece of my Chocolate. I laughed as she
hastily tried to eat it all in one piece, with no success. Eventually
she managed to swallow, and she looked up triumphantly at me.
The door opened. I heard the sound of footsteps in the front hall. My
sisters! I'd meet them at last!
A Faerie Kacheek, a Green Usul and a Striped Aisha burst into the room,
laughing hard. Behind them came two dog-like PetPets I knew to be Warfs,
a catlike PetPet I knew to be an Angelpuss, and Mandy. She smiled her
bright smile.
"Liz, Mandy, Trisha! This is your new adopted sister Lupeia. Why don't
you say hello and introduce yourselves?" The three pets scrambled quickly
to their feet.
"Hi!" The Faerie Kacheek waved. "I'm Lizzy_Beth, but you can call me
Liz. Everyone does." She picked up one of the Warfs and hugged it. "And
this is Nytika, my Warf." Nytika smiled and waved her little paw too.
The Green Usul bounced up beside Liz. "I'm Mandy_Pandy!" Her voice was
loud yet cheerful. "You can call me Mandy, of course, but it might get
confusing!" I nodded, realising that she shared the same nickname as our
owner. Mandy the Usul picked up the other Warf. "This is Nytika's sister,
Techika." Techika waved and called out hello.
The Striped Aisha came up shyly. "Hello," she mumbled quietly.
"You're Trisha?"
"Trisha_Elissa. But call me Trisha if you like." She quietly showed me
her Angelpuss. "Avlyn? Avlyn, meet Lupeia." Like Trisha, Avlyn waved shyly.
I smiled at my new sisters. I turned to Sylandria, to see her stuffing
her face with the remains of my Chocolate Chia.
"Sylandria!" I cried. Liz, Mandy and Trisha laughed. Mandy smiled and
said "Don't worry, I have some more in the fridge."
Sylandria looked up quickly, and flew over to the fridge.
We laughed as she tried to pull it open.
"Come Sylandria!" said Liz gently. "We'll show Lupeia and
you to your room. She handed Sylandria to me and began walking down the
hallway.
***
I was lying down on my new bed. My head was swirling with
thoughts. How lucky I was! I had found my long-lost brother, found a new
family and a loving owner, and now I lived in a house. For the first time
I wouldn't be sleeping in the grass or in the pound.
I gazed about my new room. The sunlight shone in through
a great window, beyond which was a balcony. The book Loyal Lupes
sat on my beside table, along with my Lupe plushie, which I had named
Lynia. Sylandria was perched on my desk, happily eating a chocolate Kacheek.
As I thought more and more about it, I realised how lucky I was.
I looked down at the Lupe Moon Charm, still safe around
my neck. It sparkled and glowed brightly, reminding me how it had helped
me so much. Without it I would be gone.
I thought of Mom and Dad. How I loved them. How they loved
me. And I suddenly realised why my charm was so special. It was because
it was blessed with my parents love. And nothing was better than that.
With one paw, I again grasped it tightly. I closed my eyes,
and softly said, "Mom, Dad, I love you. You know that. And thank you for
giving me love through the charm to help me live. I'll never forget you.
And I'll love you, for ever and for always." I finished it of with a favorite
saying of Mandy the Usul, then laid my head down and fell asleep.
Little did I know that my adventures weren't finished. They
were only beginning.
