NeoHomes: The Next Big Thing?

What are they? Will they be the next 'big thing'? Can I afford them?

Well, the NeoPets team has created another fantastic thing to do in NeoPets. NeoHomes! What are they? Well this is a simple enough question. They are homes for your NeoPet! The price of the plot of land itself ranges from 1000 to 25,000 NP. It takes about 12 hours for the council to approve you, and to give you your plot of land. (12 hours! It's not THAT long… until you actually have to wait it!)

Once you have been given your plot of land, you can begin building! To build a room, you click on a square of your land and fill in the way you want it to be. You choose the exits and what the walls are made of (Ranging from Cardboard (he he he) to Transparisteel (wow!)). Once you have submitted the specifications for your room, you have to wait approximately 4 hours for it to be built. When it is built, you can go to Extension Options and upgrade the flooring. It starts at Bare Earth, then Dirt and Weeds, then Linoleum (very dodgy looking Linoleum at that), then Wood, then a Nice Rug, etc. When you get two rooms, you can upgrade your lighting, in a similar way to the flooring. The more rooms you get, the more Extension Options you have.

But enough about how to build it. You can all find that out easily enough. Is it going to be the next big thing? Well there are so many fantastic things they can do with it! Take a garden, for instance. In different seasons, like summer, the garden would need to be watered by the owner to stay alive. The owner might receive a water bill monthly and the amount it requests could change according to how much water the owner has used. In autumn/fall, the leaves of trees would fall, and in winter, there would be snow (which your pets could play in, of course) and the trees and plants would be covered with the snow.

If you let your pets play in the snow, though, they may risk catching some sort of illness, perhaps Sneezles, unless your have heating in your house that your pets can come back to. Imagine how fantastic that would be! There are many, many MANY other things the NeoPets team could do to make NeoHomes fantastic. So many, in fact, that if I wrote them all down I would still be sitting here in seven years time.

A lot of pet owners are worried about being able to afford NeoHomes. My answer to this is learn to have fun - play the games! Bullseye, Kiko Match, The Great NeoPet Hunt and Kacheek Seek are the games I played to earn enough to live in Faerieland. Play them every day - if you only spend the amount you really have to spend (i.e. no paintbrushes or PetPets!) each day, the Neopoints just add up! Try not to play the games you have to pay to play - almost all of them are luck or chance, and more often than not you end up with less than you had before, except for Poogle Solitaire, which is a skill game.

My final conclusion is, yes, NeoHomes will be the next big thing. So prepare! Start building your home! Buy gardening equipment and flowers! Make sure you aren't left in the wake of the next big thing!
