Unofficial NeoPets Guide

by TspikeL05

Well, it seems to me that this sort of an article needs to get going around here in Neopia. Maybe you’re not satisfied with the way things are going. Or maybe you just need some simple confidence. NPs aren’t everything…

I think the best way to use this guide effectively is to just start over. Unless you are satisfied with the way things are going for you at NeoPets, you may want to just start over. I’m going to start this part off with starting out. One more thing before I start: You don’t need to use this guide completely! Don’t follow it word for word. It’s unofficial.

HOW MANY NEOPETS SHOULD I HAVE?

No more than two. I’m completely serious. Eventually, you’ll be able to have more than just two. But things won’t be so easy. There’s a reason that the writers put, "If you're just starting out with NeoPets, it’s a good idea to start out with only one. The limit is four, because, they get demanding." Yes, they do. You’ll be wasting money for food and toys and such. It’s just simpler this way.

WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

There’re a number of options to go after. I suggest going after those Neopoint offers. They give you NPs for signing up with a site. Do them all. It’ll be well worth it. No you could have anywhere from 800-2000 NPs. Let’s make a stop by the bank!

HOW MUCH MONEY DO I PUT IN THE BANK?

It all depends on how much you’re willing to spend after this. You see, when I see how many NPs I have, I look at the left column under my name and the active NeoPet. That’s how many NPs I see that I have. It’s very reassuring. Now, in the back of my head, I still realize that I have about 2000 NPs in the bank. But it doesn’t matter. I can only spend what’s in my bank. Now back to the real question. If you have 800 NPs, put in 200. If you have 1000, put in 400 or so. That later one was a little extreme. But I advise that you do this because, you need to have money saved. Or maybe just put in a quarter of what you have. There is another alternative to "saving" money with possible interest, or risking of losing money. I’m talking about the Stock Market.

SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE STOCK MARKET?

If you know how it works, I’d recommend doing so. I only buy about 10 shares at a time and usually only have one company at a time. I’ll sell them a week later or so. It’s a little more risky, but it also can be more rewarding…

SHOPS?

Boy is this a question or what. I guess the real for sure way to make NPs is by having one. So go ahead. You won’t have items right now to worry about. But buying things early when they are available is a good thing. Consider upgrading to level two so that you can hold 15 items. Running a shop may get expensive. But this is the for sure way to earn money. Then there’re the games…

WHAT ARE THE BEST GAMES?

I think Techo Says is the most rewarding. Plus, it doesn’t cost a dime! Now, I’m not sure if there’s a limit to playing Techo Says. I’ve never played it more than three times. Sometimes, a lot of games have a cost or a limit or both. Poogle Solitaire is very rewarding also. It takes a while though and may be a bit challenging. I think that I had beginner’s luck. There are a number of games to play Cliff Hanger is a lot like Hangman. Just find the right games for you. I don’t advise the Risk/Luck ones. They aren’t rewarding enough for me. If you think otherwise, it’s probably getting you money by the loads. Of course, this guide is for getting along well in Neopia. Remember that!

BUYING ITEMS

OK, this is a very difficult thing to talk about. The guide doesn’t follow a strict budget, so I’m going to be as helpful as possible. I think the shops that you should try for first are the basic ones, like the food ones. Being at the right place at the right time is often very good. The Basic Food shop has the best prices, but sells out quickly. Think about that when fewer people are on-line and then go to the shop.

Food is the stuff you’ll need the most. So stock up when prices are low. Also, buy only a few toys and grooming products. Three books per a pet are also a good idea, but this isn’t completely necessary. Books increase knowledge.

The chat boards don’t always lie. Check them out once in a while. Click on the person’s name and then there will be a little profile, click on the shop size link and you’re there!

THE GARAGE SALE IS THE BEST SHOP IN THE WORLD!

I’m completely serious. First, I’ll tell you how to get there. Go to the Explore Map of Neopia. Click on the Snow Mountain area (the name has slipped my mind) You will see some snowy theme shops and so forth. Forget them. Go to the Terror Mountain passageway. It’s a brown sign. This is the place to be. There is the garage sale sign. Every time I’ve been there, it’s been stocked full of cheap items. There are Pet Pets there often too. Don’t buy them, you probably won’t have enough money anyway. Go there for a lot of items. I don’t think that too many people go there.

ENTER CONTESTS!

I submit for that storytelling contest practically everyday! 2000 NPs and a rare item are completely worth it! I’ve also done Poetry and Caption contests. These are very rewarding. I’m completely aware of that and you should be too. Also, remember that people have been known to find things when searching on the site. It’s amazing when you find a Zei Codestone on the ground in a shop. I sold it! This has nothing to do with contests, but I forgot to add it in the long items portion of the guide.

TAKE ADVANTAGE WHEN NEW THINGS POP UP!

What I mean is this. When something new comes to Neopia, strive to get it. When the site offers something, that’s when it’s the cheapest. Buy a house! Now, the housing business may be roughing it for beginners. I know that this will start getting expensive. But the people at Neopets are striving to do the same thing that you are. That’s when supply and demand will get going. Think about the outrageous prices in shops. Go after free booster pack offers.

FINAL TIPS

My final words are this: Go after what you really hope to gain from Neopets. If you want to battle, save the codestones for yourself, don’t sell them. Keep those potions and snowballs. It all depends on the direction of what exactly you want to do. Maybe you just want to keep your Neopets in awesome condition. That means buying paintbrushes and finding items like that. Or maybe you want to invest all your time in the new housing feature. It all depends on what you want to do in Neopets. That’s what I love about it! Neopets has so much to offer!
