It didn't take Spirit and Sheeka long to get out of their chains. It
would take them what seems like an eternity to escape Shiekan. "You do
realise we will have to get Nabooru first, then get Shiekan, right?" Spirit
says as they trudge down a long dark hall. Sheeka whirls around.
"You didn't tell me that!!!" she blares angrily.
"Why? Why can't we get him first?" she demands Spirit.
"Don't get me wrong, I'd want to get him out first, but if we want to
free him, we're gonna have to get Nabooru's help to un-brain wash him.
But, even if it's the last thing I ever do, I'll help you get Shiekan
back. I promise," he explains to the angry Shoyru.
"Cross your heart, hope to die? Poke an arrow in your eye?" she asks
quietly.
"I promise...if it shall ever be broken, may Gannondorf tear my heart
out and may the Dark Faerie bless me with eternal pain."
"All right then, let's go find Nabooru. Where is sh-" Sheeka began,
only to be interrupted by a dark, low voice.
"So we meet again, Sheeka. I knew you would escape before long."
The two pets whirl around, and see the tall, dark figure of a man, a
youth really, standing a few feet away.
"Shiekan!!!" Sheeka hissed, as if the friendship between the two before
the capture had been nothing but a spiteful rivalry. It is amazing what
the powers of darkness can do between even the best of friends.
"Ah, so you do remember me." His dark face becomes sinister with a leery
smile. "I knew you would. The great Gannondorf is not happy with your
progress of becoming one of us. Should I give you another lesson?" as
he says this, he pulls out a long black whip, which reminded Spirit of
the snakes he and Nabooru had seen so many times within their beloved
Desert.
Sheeka's eyes flash. "Bring it on." Sheeka pulls out from a tattered
pouch around her neck a small crystal dagger.
Sheikan laughs. "You haven't changed at all, have you? You still think
you can beat me?" his arrogant voice calls out, taunting the Shoyru.
Sheeka whispers to Spirit, "If you have anything to battle with, I suggest
you use it now." Grimly, Spirit nods. He concentrates really hard. A fire
ball is formed and levitates in the air, ready for battle at his will.
He smiles briefly, remembering the day the Fire Faerie, the one in the
fountain beside the NeoSpirit Temple, gave him this powerful blessing.
The battle was on without warning.
With a low pitched battle cry, Shiekan hurtles himself at his old friend,
whip ready. Taken aback by surprise, Spirit, didn't have time to throw
his fire ball. But sheeka had time to use her dagger. A huge RIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPP
of fabric, Sheeka tears a strip of Shiekan's shirt, and quickly, while
Shiekan was still in surprise, wrapped it around his eyes like a blind
fold.
She turns to Spirit and demands, "Why didn't you tell me you had that?
We could've used that instead of bumbling around in the dark...."
A flailing Shiekan falls to the ground, unable to see at all, and losing
his balance. He hits his head hard enough on the stone floor to knock
himself unconscious. Sheeka stares long and hard at the body of her old
master, the one whom she had loved so much, then finally, she turns to
Spirit.
"Hurry, let's go before he comes to!!!" Sheeka tells him.
"You don't have to tell me twice!!!" he says back, as the two dash out
of the door at the end of the hallway into broad daylight.
Spirit never felt so happy to see the light. To Sheeka, it was too good
to be true. They fled that horrid castle, they ran until their lungs ached.
It was high noon when they finally stopped, far from the castle. Spirit
sat down upon the hill top, and looked at the castle behind him, now a
dot in the clear blue sky.
"I never ever want to go back their again," Sheeka mumbles to herself.
"You and me both!" Spirit says giddily, happy to be alive. "Do you know
where we are?" Spirit asks Sheeka.
"We're in NeoHyrule Field right now. Pretty close to NeoKakariko Village.
Ampa and maybe the princess might be there. They fled to the village,
but don't tell anyone, only the Shiek knows. I suggest we go there to
see Ampa. She could help us a little, or at least give us a place to stay
for the night," Sheeka answers, remembering the tall, white haired Shieka
whom she knew quite well.
"All right. Let's go!" Spirit shouted joyously.
So, Spirit and Sheeka started across the field towards the looming shadow
of Terror Mountain, where at it's foot lay NeoKakariko Village, where
Ampa was. About half way there, a little boy wearing a green tunic and
with a Faerie following him ran up to them.
"You," the Faerie asked Spirit. "Can you help us? We must find the Silver
Gauntlets for Nabooru, but we can't get them!"
Spirit sighs."Was that her plan then? To get the gauntlets? Woo boy,
she'd better be careful. She knows only I can find them. She could have
taken me with her!" Spirit began, lost in thought.
"Can you help us?" the boy asks quietly, unlike the annoying Faerie who
practically demanded.
"Well, if it's for Nabooru...all right, but first we must go to NeoKakariko
to talk to Ampa," Sheeka says.
"Thank you. I will meet you at the windmill tomorrow at noon. I have
business there."
"All right," Spirit says.
The new member of the group walked along, uncomplaining about the long
walk. The Faerie, however, complained every step of the way. "My wings
are tired," Lavi said. "Rank, get a move on! Hurry up! Let's go! Can the
fate of NeoHyrule really depend on such a lazy boy? Can-"
"Can you ever be quiet?!" Sheeka yelled, tired of the complaining.
A long shocked silence from the Faerie. She did speak up from time to
time, but not as often. Finally, as the sun set, the tired group reached
NeoKakariko Village
"I must be going now," Rank told the group. "Thank you for your help.
Remember, meet us tomorrow at the windmill," he called behind him as he
headed to the staircase which led to the windmill, leaving the two pets
behind him.
"So, where does Ampa live?" Spirit asked.
Sheeka curiously, having been to NeoHyrule City but never NeoKakariko
Village "Follow me," Sheeka told him quietly and led him up a staircase
towards the house of Ampa. When they reached a house upon the top of the
stair case, (which Spirit presumed to be Ampa's) Sheeka glanced at Spirit
and said, "This is it," and she casually opened the door.
