How to Get What You Want on NeoPets

by samthespaz

Wondering why no one responds to your pleas for help? How to get rich? I'll cover how to politely get help and easily gain NP, *without* begging and pleading.

Now, first, I'll cover etiquette. Nobody, and I mean *nobody* likes it when somebody comes onto the message boards and posts a topic begging for donations, or falsely advertising their shop. Here are some rules for getting people to help you out, buy things from your shop, etc.:

Rule 1) DON'T BEG. Nobody likes a beggar, trust me, I know. No matter how poor you may be, you DO start out on the game with 550 NP, and claiming you only have 7 NP won't get anyone to give you items. And calling the rest of us middle-class or rich Neopians "rich snobs" won't get you anywhere either. I recently sold my two Pink Job Coupons and earned- well, let's just say a lot. My younger brother, also a NeoPets user, begged me to buy faeries for him, for free! When I said no, he yelled at me and called me a snob. I said no simply because I worked *extremely* hard to get those two coupons, and didn't think it was fair to be asked to give people things for free just because they haven't yet gained as much NP. We started out just like you!

Rule 2) DON'T FALSELY ADVERTISE. It'll get you absolutely NO business when you claim to have Faeries for 100 NP, or a sale where everything is 1 NP, if you're not telling the truth! Also a sales killer: Scams and fake contests. Don't have a 'buy the most in my shop and win a Faerie paintbrush!' contest unless your prices are reasonable and you actually intend to give out the prize. This can even get your account frozen if someone reports you!

Rule 3) DON'T SPAM UP THE MESSAGE BOARDS. Please, no matter how much you want help, don't post the same message over and over again on the message boards every five minutes. If nobody responds, wait a while and post when your message no longer appears on the board. Also: Refrain from posting anything inappropriate; young children, as well as parents, DO use this site, and your account will be frozen.

Now, for you Neopians either just starting out, having trouble getting started, or just plain want more NP, here's how I got my money:

1) Play games. Games are the best way to get NP, and definitely worth it. Plus, they're fun! Play a few games every time you're online. Some good ones are Kiko Match, Poogle Solitaire, Meerca Chase, and Cheat. Some more difficult, but rewarding, games are Chiazilla vs. Mechazilla, Bullseye, and those chance games(Dice A Roo, Scorchy Slots, etc.; they eat up your NP).

2) I know it gets drilled into your brains, but open a shop. It doesn't have to be big, but you can do like I do: find out when the food shops restock, then go in and buy large quantities of food for around 10 NP, you can get it even cheaper! Then sell it for under 15 NP, and it'll sell out like *that* while you make a profit, AND help poorer Neopians get the food priced up to 60 NP in other shops that they can't afford. Food is always a guaranteed big seller, so long as it's not ridiculously priced.

3) Use the Trading Post. Instead of wasting big bucks to get that rare paintbrush you want, try trading some items you already have for it in the Trading Post.

4) Take chances. Once in awhile, NOT every day, you should take a chance on the Wheel of Excitement or Wheel of Mediocrity. Both have great prizes and horrible downfalls, but they can be worth it. However, don't waste all your NP trying to spin that 10,000.

5) Save and spend wisely. After playing a few games and earning 1,000 NP, do NOT spend it all. Put at least half of it in the bank, and use the other half to feed, play with, and read to your pets, as well as stock your shop or buy any other items you may want.

6) The most important rule of all: Have fun! NeoPets is fun, so every now and then, it's OK to splurge a little and treat your pet to a trip to the Rainbow Pool or a new PetPet. :0)

Just so you all know, I'm not really that rich. I have less than 200,000 NP. That may seem rich in comparison to some of you, and I know how that feels, but if you follow these guidelines and invest wisely, you'll soon be able to have this much NP, and more!
