Guilds - Are You Confused About Them?

by Zafinonuta

Some people feel like a guild is an extension of their family. To others, guilds are only a means of obtaining advice, money or food for little or no effort. First off, when you join a guild, do not expect handouts; you need to work for yourself. Most importantly, don't just join a guild and never post. The best way to get noticed is to post messages and offer help and advice! For those who work hard, a guild can be an amazing place but you need to know which guild will suit you and your individual needs.

1.) Money Making tips: You can find guilds that offer tips on money making under the stock exchange. These guilds are generally good and have hard working members. I would suggest one of the top 5 guilds in this category to join because unlike the smaller guild with less then 300 members, they are better organized, neat and have hard working members. The more experienced members, the better!

2.) Specific Pets: Some guilds are based on pet breeds and if you are a real enthusiast, then this type of guild is great for you. For example, there is a whole category devoted basically to Poogles! There are many types of specific pet guilds such as ones for Shoyrus or Cybunnys, and sometimes finding a guild that matches your pet can be hard. You may need to check many different categories and if you still can't find one, create one!

3.) Battles: There are many different battle guilds ranging from elite to beginners and training. If you are very competitive, I would suggest looking for a strong guild that offers opportunities to fight other strong members. Some battle guilds even have armories and medical supplies to heal your pet after battle. If you don't like confrontations and fighting, a guild like this may not be a good choice because Battle guilds look for dedicated, strong and loyal members.

4.) Age Groups: One of the most obvious guilds in this category is the Over 21 Guild. Age group guilds let you talk about matter that are important to you at a certain age. For example, teenage guilds will offer advice on problems with relationships and clothing and issues that matter at that certain age. Age Group guilds also let you feel comfortable and welcomed. With other guilds, you may feel too young or too old to be a member and that is why Age Group guilds let you feel like you fit in.

5.) Selflessness: Many guilds help Neopia run smoothly by donating to the needy, adopting pets and keeping an eye out for crime. These guilds are built on trust and loyalty to keeping Neopia safe and prosperous. For someone who procrastinates, an adoption guild or policing guild would not be a good choice. You need to work hard in this type of guilds and give 110%!

6.) Same Interests: Certain guilds are based on cartoons, book, etc. If you really enjoy a certain thing, look for a guild that specializes in a certain category. Some guilds can help you outside of Neopia as well by giving sites and information on a topic, for example, great mountain biking sites if the guild is based on mountain biking. If you really don't like what the guild is based on, then you shouldn't join that guild. Look for what interests you, not what is popular.

7.) Faerie/magic: If you go to some of the different categories to choose from, you will find a type of guild which is rapidly growing. This type of guild is based on magic and mystery and for those interested in witch craft or the paranormal, you might want to consider a guild of this type. These guilds are usually very open and kind although they may be slightly intimidating, but once you get to know people in the guild, you may find they are among the kindest people in Neopia.

I can't really decide which type of guild I would prefer, although I do enjoy the stock market and making money. I have had a bad run in with a certain guilds in the past and although it usually does not happen, Neopians should be aware of it. If you feel your guild if not dedicated or if certain people in the guild are rude/mean or power hungry, you may want to consider switching guilds. You never know what guild could be right around the corner waiting for a dedicated person to join!
