NeoPets' great new game to go along with their great
new Pet. Waves of new games are opening along with Tyrannia, and PTERATTACK
is one of the best yet. If you thought Chia
Bombers was addictive, then you haven't seen anything yet. PTERATTACK
makes you a tiny green Pteri in a cruel world. You have to defend yourself
from other flying pets and evil Grarrls. This is some advice for those
who are itching for a higher score in PTERATTACK.
1) You start out with what seems like a pretty weak Pteri-shooter.
On Easy mode, two shots need to take down a one-point bird. You can change
your gun with blue or green circles, or you can upgrade your gun with
a red circle. Don't be so eager to get rid of your Pteri-shooter, because
the upgrades for it are fantastic. First, the Pteri-blaster. These shots
are stronger, and take down one-pointers in one shot. If you're lucky,
you'll have the HealingSpringSpecial (HSS) by the end of level 1. The
HSS delivers longer shots, and can destroy more birds with one shot than
it's lower cousins. Sure, the HSS is great for the beginning levels, but
once you move up, you'll want an upgrade. Along with more red circles
come fatter and longer shots from your gun. The MidwayBlast, the Mutilation
Ray ... and the Brain Scrambler, an awesome weapon for the later levels.
More power-ups still await you, so my advice is to stick with your little
Pteri-shooter!
2) Pesky Grarrls getting in your way? I learned early
on that it would be very unwise to try and shoot a Grarrl from behind,
because he'll just stop running and smack you, causing you to lose a life.
If the Grarrl comes up the middle, quickly pick one side to go to, and
stay away from that side until the Grarrl passes.
3) The first two levels can be considered warm ups for
the levels to come. The third level can be pretty tricky, so you need
fast hands. Green birds, worth three points, dart quickly by. Either get
in front of them and blast them, or get out of the way! This is where
your gun power-ups can come in handy. The fourth level is a place where
I lost my lives often. Dark blue birds, four points each, fly across the
screen, from left to right. They're moving pretty slow, but don't be fooled.
Their tough to destroy with a less-powerful gun, and they're almost transparent,
so they blend into the background. I would now suggest staying to the
right side of the screen, so you can see the blue birds earlier. Train
yourself to keep your eyes going from the top of the screen to look out
for the normal birds, to the right to look out for the blue ones, and
to the bottom for the Grarrls Level five makes it even tougher on your
eyes, as five-point light green birds swoop down from the right. You can
get trapped easily between light green birds, dark blue birds, Grarrls
from behind, and birds from up front, so keep on your toes (Or talons,
since you're a bird)!
