Secret Lab - Good or Terribly Bad?

by baby_snoball

As you can tell by the steadily-increasing price of lab map pieces, more and more people are starting to gain access to the secret laboratory. However, many ask themselves: Is it really worth it? What can it do? How do I get to it? In this article I have answered all of these questions.

I have been going to the lab for quite a while--long enough to find out the consequences which can be both good and bad.

The most important tip I can probably give you is to use the lab BEFORE training or painting your pets! This is very important because you wouldn't want to spend thousands of Neopoints on codestones training your pet, and then have them go back down to level one, would you?

Now I will start listing some things that can happen at the lab.

-Change of colour
-Change of gender
-Change of species
-Gain/Loss of Hit points
-Gain/Loss of levels
-Gain/Loss of strength, speed or defence points

The affects usually go up or down by around 2-4 points.

I have asked some people what some of their questions about the lab would be if they hadn't heard of it before, but knew the basics of it (so they would not be asking "What is the lab?"). I would like to thank those who took part in my questions :)

Q: How do I gain access to the lab?

A: Complete the secret laboratory map. Once you have collected all the pieces (make sure they are in your items!), click on games, and then puzzles, and then NeoPets treasure Hunt.

Q: How do I get there?

A: The URL to the lab is: http://www.neopets.com/lab.phtml. However, this will only work once you have completed the lab map.

Q: Do I have to collect the pieces again once I have gone to the lab the first time?

A: Absolutely not! Once you have completed the map, nothing else than going there is required ;)

Q: How do I get pieces to the laboratory map?

A: You can either find these pieces on the ground as random events; there is no shop which sells them. If you are too impatient with waiting to find the different pieces, you can auction, trade or buy them in someone's shop =)

If you have any questions that are not answered here, be sure to message me, baby_snoball.

I will include a diary I have kept of what it has done to my pet. Note: He started out as a Blue Blumaroo with awful stats, and is now a Christmas Buzz with a quite noticeable improvement. Please note: I have shortened the diary so that it does not go on forever ^_-;;

Rainbow_Roo's Lab Diary (just an example)

One week - [Day 1: Gains 4 movement points

-Day 2: Gains 4 movement points

-Day 3: Gains 2 maximum movement points

-Day 4: Changes to Halloween colour!

-Day 5: Loses two levels

-Day 6: Gains 3 maximum hit points

-Day 7: Turns into a green Kiko!]

I hope reading this has helped you decide whether the lab is a good thing or not.
