We all followed her gaze to a cave. There was a pair of cold purple eyes watching us. Now we all were about ready to run except for Worthing who was slowly hovering to the cave.

"Worthing," I whispered to her.

The eyes blinked and disappeared.

She looked at me and said, "Aw, you scared?" mockingly.

Normally that would have gotten to me, but Worthing was probably walking (well, flying) to the end's door and I wasn't going to let that remark keep me from stopping her.

"Worthing. Come here. Now," I said in the most authoritative voice I could perform.

She slumped her wings and made a face. Then she looked at Tiger and Wolf for guidance and they both nodded. Reluctantly, Worthing flew down and did a "humph".

Tiger and I sighed with relief, but Wolf said, "Hm, shoulda let her get eaten."

Tiger rolled her eyes and started in the opposite direction of the cave. The rest of us followed. I kept a close eye on Worthing after that. As we made a pace a little faster than walking-still a little shaken after the event at the cave-I wondered about those cold eyes. They were frightening, but...something. What? Not evil...I think.

"I bet it was the Snowager," Worthing mumbled.

"Oh and that makes everything better," Tiger said watching the last drop of snow fall from the sky.

"You know how much treasure it guards!" Worthing protested.

"Ah, I got you. You want to die by wrath of the Snowager on top of a pile of treasure," Wolf said nodding.

"Hmph! At least I wasn't scared out of my wits!" Worthing retorted.

"Please you guys, you know there's no point in that arguing. Besides, I don't think it was the Snowager. I'm almost positive it wasn't. And my head hurts," I sighed rubbing my head.

"Oof," Tiger said as she tripped.

"You okay?" I asked as Wolf, Worthing and I walked over to her.

"Peachy," Tiger grumbled.

She shook herself and said "Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay,"

"Mmmmm," Wolf said as she dug at the spot where Tiger tripped.

I looked at her curiously. All Tiger had tripped over was...a necklace. A beautiful one at that, though.

"Woah," Worthing said.

We all admired it for a minute. The necklace was black, with a black and red amulet on it. I picked it up.

"We'll keep it in my backpack. Someone must be looking for it. If we can't find who it belongs to, well it'll fetch a pretty penny," I told them smiling.

"Hey look, the fog's clearing!" Tiger cheered.

"Maybe..." Worthing started in a hopeful tone.

She flew up and looked in all directions.

"Oh my gosh!" she shouted.

"What?!" Wolf shouted back.

Worthing dove back down to us and had a huge smile on her face.

"The town! Just a little more the way we're heading and we're home free!" Worthing announced.

"Oh yeah!" Wolf said leaping in the town's direction.

I still had that object in my hand. I was about to put it away, but a chill went through me.

"My...my head feels better," I said.

I looked at the amulet. Could this thing possibly be helping us?

"Well, guess everything is lookin' good for us. Come on! Let's go!" Tiger told me.

I shrugged and trotted to them.

"Uh uh, hold up," a voice said.

We all froze and looked around frantically for the source of the voice.

The voice laughed. "Look above you, fools," it sneered.

Our heads turned to the sky. We saw a small green light.

"I am the Earth Faerie," she said arrogantly.

I was certainly surprised by this. With the exception for the Dark Faerie, I thought all Faeries were kind.

"Now, what I came for. Hand me the amulet. It is mine," the Faerie said looking at me.

"Aw, we could have been rich if we had sold it," Wolf mumbled loudly.

"Too bad indeed," the Faerie smirked.

Behind the Earth Faerie, there was a light in the distance that seemed to be coming this way.

"Well, hand it over," she demanded.

Even though the colours of the amulet sure matched her attitude, somehow I had a feeling it wasn't hers. Tiger looked at me confused. She saw my hesitation. She took an unnoticeable step towards me and whispered: "Look, even if it's not hers, that Faerie will get it anyway. All of us combined are no match for her." It was like she read my mind.

I nodded. Yes, she was right. I took one last look at it.

"I'm an impatient Faerie!" she scolded.

Right then that light I had seen in the distance had became clear as day. It was the Dark Faerie. WOSH! A huge wave went past me. Day turned to night. Before I could call out to see if my NeoPets were still there the Dark Faerie spoke. In the night's darkness I could only see her eyes...they were the same eyes we had seen in the cave.

"You know very well that amulet belongs to me," the Dark Faerie said coldly.
