The Altador Cup: How to Prepare!

by super_star_08034

--------

The crowds, the commotion, the paraphernalia, the screaming blue Techo fan in the front row. Sound familiar? Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about the one... the only... Altador Cup! An event that makes sure to include all of Neopia in a head-on competition that matches strength with strategy as teams compete in a thrilling game of Yooyuball. The winning team not only gets wonderful bragging rights (surely the best part) but they also get a magnificent trophy to add to their cabinet! Don’t get too excited quite yet. The Altador Cup won’t be happening for about another month. But, you can never start planning too early! After all, there’s so much you can do to support your team, and so much team gear to buy, you want to be sure to beat the crowds! Even though there’s a lot to think about with the Altador Cup so near, you can manage your team support quite easily if you plan it out the right way. Why, you could be passing out “Support Krawk Island” T-shirts this time tomorrow! All you have to do is be organized, be smart, and be prepared! Which is why I’ve concocted this list of five simple steps you can take to prepare for the coveted Altador Cup. Get ready fans, the Altador Cup is almost here!

Step 1: Get out the Word!

The best way to help your team with the Altador Cup is to get lots of fans. To do this, you can hold rallies, make flyers, scream into a siren, whatever you’d like! The main objective is to get as many people as possible rooting for your team! Let’s take Krawk Island (that’s the team I’m rooting for) for example. If you’re a Krawk Island fan, you can walk done the streets in a pirate outfit, with a big sign that says, “Support Krawk Island!” Even if you aren’t that wacky, you could do something as simple as hang up posters or hand out flyers. If you can convince people, you’ll have a ton of support going for your team!

Step 2: Stock up on Stuff!

Part of the fun of the Altador Cup is all of the neat junk... I mean... gear you can get sporting your team’s logos! Since paraphernalia is in such high demand during the Cup, it’s best to buy your team’s stuff a little while before. Also, closer to the Cup, you can make some extra neopoints and sell some of the souvenirs! This is the peak time for shopkeepers. Of course, you don’t want to sell ALL of your gear. You’ll want to keep some for when you’re rooting for your favorite team! And, if worst comes to worst and you can’t buy any gear at a reasonable price, you can even go so far as to make your own gear! A piece of paper taped to a twig? It’s a flag! A bandanna and vest? A pirate outfit! You and your neopets can be creative when rooting for your team!

Step 3: Learn the Game!

It’s sure no fun watching an exciting game of Yooyuball if you have no clue as to what’s going on! The solution? LEARN THE GAME! Sorry for the shouting, but seriously: learn the game. Invest a small amount of time and energy to read up on the rules, the positions, some possible plays, etc. The more you know about it, the more fun you’ll have watching the Altador Cup. Hey, you could even try playing with your friends and practicing just for fun! That way, when you watch the Altador Cup, you’ll have a better understanding of why some teams win and why some teams don’t win. Trust me, it’s easier if you comprehend what’s going on!

And, you’ll be able to pick your team a lot better if you know about all of the positions. If you’re from Neopia Central, or one of the worlds that doesn’t have its own team, it can be quite a challenge to pick your team. So, simply put, you can read about all of the players and have a better perspective about what makes a good team and a great game!

Step 4: Keep up with the News!

Has a player been injured, replaced? FIRED? How will you ever know if you don’t keep up with the news? You know that handy dandy little news section of the Altador Cup page? Well, whenever you go on, check there to make sure you keep up with the big news. If you keep up with the news, you’ll know if something’s happened to a player, a team, who knows? The world is strange, and weird things can happen sometimes. But you’ll never know if you don’t keep up with the news! So, I say again: KEEP UP WITH WHAT'S GOING ON!

(Again, I apologize for the yelling. Sometimes I just can’t help it).

Step 5: Have Fun!

Remember, no matter how competitive you are, no matter how much you love Yooyuball, no matter how much you love your team, it’s just a game! And, it’s just for fun! The whole point of the Altador Cup is for all the citizens of Neopia to gather together in a friendly competition. Sure, it’s a tremendous honor to win the Altador Cup, but you shouldn’t let your competitive streak stop you from having a good time. But keep in mind you can still be somewhat competitive. You can still brag about your team and try to predict scores, but the Altador Cup is supposed to be fun! Don’t get in over your head!

So, there you have it! Five simple steps to get you ready for the phenomenal Altador Cup! Now you will be completely, one hundred percent prepared when the competition starts! And, with some fun tips, you’ll have even more fun then you normally would! So, all that’s left to do is make some flyers, practice your insane screaming, and get ready for the Altador Cup coming in June!
