Valentine's Day For People Who Hate Pink by ultimatekai123
--------
As someone whose favourite colour happens to be pink, I can’t believe I’m writing this article. It goes against everything I stand for!! However, it must be said that there are quite a few people out there who hate the colour pink and would never dream of painting their Neopet with a Valentine Paintbrush. How are those people supposed to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Neopia? Never fear, for I am going to list all the ways you can celebrate Valentine’s Day and exclude the colour pink altogether. Get a Chocolate Neopet Okay, so you wouldn’t be caught dead with a Valentine Paint Brush in your inventory. Yuck! Not to worry, because there is another colour you can choose for your Pet that’s a little more subtle: Chocolate! Chocolate Neopets are great for Valentine’s Day (and every other day, really) because they’re chocolatey, cute, and fun to customize. Currently, all 55 Neopet species can be painted Chocolate, so no matter what your favourite Neopet is, there is a Chocolate version waiting just for you! The only downside is that there is currently no Chocolate Paint Brush, so the only three ways of obtaining a Chocolate Neopet are to use a Fountain Faerie Quest reward, trade for one, or get a lucky Secret Laboratory Ray zap. Buy an Un-Valentines Plushie I’m sure you’ve seen the normal Valentines Plushies that are available at Plushie Palace, but perhaps the mere sight of them made you gag with disgust at how adorably pink they are. Un-Valentines Plushies, however, are grey and perfect for someone who despises having anything pink in their inventory. Currently, you can get a Blumaroo, Cybunny, Flotsam, JubJub, Koi, Quiggle, Shoyru, Skeith, Tonu, and Xweetok in Un-Valentine Plushie form, each one holding a broken heart. They’re just begging you to take them home and mend their little broken hearts with hugs! Send Someone a Valentines Muffin A common tradition on Neopets is to purchase the A Mysterious Valentines Card item to send to your NeoFriends on Valentine’s Day, because doing so will unlock a (very pink) site theme for both of you. You, however, would never dream of doing such a thing, because the site theme is way too pink (and so is the item for that matter!). You wouldn’t want to give your friends the impression that you secretly love the colour pink, now would you?! Luckily for you, there is a wonderful non-pink Valentine’s Day item that stocks in The Bakery called Valentines Muffin! It’s a chocolate muffin with vanilla icing and red strawberries on top, making it the perfect Valentine’s Day gift to let your friends know that you care about them. You won’t unlock the site theme with this item, but at least there’s no pink involved! Play Kiss The Mortog Head on over to Meridell and play a game of Kiss the Mortog for just 50 Neopoints! This fun little game of chance that isn’t really Valentine’s Day-related per se, but Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to give someone a kiss, even if that someone just happens to be a Mortog! Use a Dyeworks Hue Brew Potion There are many great NC Mall items for customizing your Neopet, but unfortunately, some of them happen to be pink. Luckily, you can use the Dyeworks shop in the NC Mall to change the colour of some of those items! The Butterfly Dress, for example, can be turned brown, green, or grey by using a Dyeworks Hue Brew Potion, which means your Neopet can be beautiful for Valentine’s Day without wearing pink. Other pink items you can change the colour of are Sparkling Faerie Wings, Faerie Dust Shower, and Butterfly Shower. Occasionally there are limited-time NC Mall items that you can use a Dyeworks Hue Brew Potion on, so be sure to check the Dyeworks shop whenever new items are released. That item you scoffed at for being too pink might be able to be dyed into a much more suitable black… you never know! Feed Your Neopet Some Candy What is Valentine’s Day without some delicious candy? There are quite a few Valentine’s Day-related items that you can feed your Pet that aren’t pink! A few examples are Black Licorice Hearts, Red Gummy Hearts, Glitter Heart Candy, and Icy Heart Candy. You wouldn’t want your poor Neopets to think you forgot about them on Valentine’s Day just because you don’t want to be caught buying pink candy at the Chocolate Factory! Paint a Pink Petpet a Different Colour There are some Petpets that happen to be naturally pink, such as the Snorkle, Hopso, Floud, and Meepit. While it’s not really a Valentine’s Day tradition to paint a Petpet, it might make you feel better about all of that terrible pink being thrown at you this time of year. Why not take a pink Petpet over to the Petpet Puddle in Neopia Central and give it a fresh new look? Maybe the first time you saw a Snorkle you thought to yourself, “That pink thing?! No way!” but have you seen a BLUE Snorkle?! It’s a game-changer! Prepare for Chia Day The most effective way to stay away from the colour pink on Valentine’s Day is to just pretend as if Valentine’s Day is not happening. Just a mere four days after Valentine’s Day is Chia Day on the 18th! Start reading some Chia-themed books such as A Chia’s Choice, enjoy a delicious Chocolate Chia Cupcake, or play a few rounds of Chia Bomber 2! Why say Happy Valentine’s Day when you can instead say Happy Early Chia Day? There you have it! You can still celebrate with your Pets, eat chocolate, and send your NeoFriends a gift, even when you’re trying to avoid that adorable hue that makes Valentine’s Day so sickeningly cute. I can’t guarantee that you won’t run into a Valentine Aisha handing out free Peachpas at the Money Tree, but that could happen any time of year, not just on Valentine’s Day!
