The Top 10 Advantages for Taking Part in the Monthly Games

by sillyjillyprincess

--------

GAMES ROOM - You may have noticed games like Armada, Kacheekers, or Geos, on the Neopia map or in the list of puzzle games. Still many of you most likely have never tried these games. They are different than the other games in Neopets as they are head-to head competitions. They are turn based games that you play against other users. Kacheekers is just like playing checkers, and each player moves one piece then waits for the next player to move a piece. This will obviously be much slower than a one-player game of Whack-A-Kass, so many people have skipped these games.

There are several fun filled reasons that you should change your ways and give these tournaments a try. We’ll be looking at the top ten reasons to take part in the monthly tournaments.

10) Meet some new people – There are millions of pets out there, and it can be tough to even begin to meet other users in Neopia. The monthly tournament randomly pairs you against another player and voila you’ve been given a new face to meet and play against. Best yet as you're in a friendly competition you’ve even got a topic to discuss. I’ve neomailed many a past opponent to discuss a prior match or talk about best methods of play. Who knows, you might even bump into me, and it’s hard to think of a better reason than that to try multiplayer games.

9) Try to get your name on the leaders boards – Tens of thousands of people fight over the Meerca Chase leader board every day. Less people partake in the monthly tournaments, hence you’ll face less competition for these leader boards. You’re might be more likely to make your way to the Geos board than to ever see your name on the list of Destruct-o-Match II trophy winners. It’ll be a long time before I can even think of catching-up to the current leaders, but perhaps someday I’ll be listed on a board.

8) Learn some new games – You may not even know how the game of Geos works. When you get bored of playing the same game of Turmac Roll over and over, then why not read the rules for Geos and give it a try. You might find something to give you a break on the days where you just don’t want to play yet another game of Ultimate Bullseye. Armada can be fun and thought-provoking as you decide whether to build a new ship or try and steal ships from your opponent. Besides it’s a nice rest after your fingers get tired playing Tug-o-War.

7) Practice old games – Most everyone has played checkers, but how good are you at this old standby of a game? Playing Kacheekers will give you a chance to get a little practice for the next time you sit down against somebody at a table. Refine your double jumping skills or just remember how to get ‘Kinged’.

6) The thrill of winning without ever having to make a move – One of the interesting things about the monthly tournaments is that sometimes your competitor just decides not to play or forgets about the match. In this case you can be declared the winner just by entering the game. You win just for showing up. The first time you are congratulated for victory without ever making a move, you’ll chuckle and wonder why the Mystery Pic game can’t be as easy.

5) Show off your strategic thinking – Quick reflexes might be the key to Volcano Run, but hand-eye coordination isn’t meaningful in the monthly tournaments. These are turn based games where you can think, plot, and strategize before moving. These games are a pure match of wits. There are no randomly offered golden doughnutfruits to boost scores or pure luck of getting a good dice roll. The only thing that will tip these games in your favor is to outthink your opponent. You can take a lot of pride when you manage to best your opponent is a game that is completely balanced for both participants.

4) Chance for additional random events while playing – Multiplayer games require you to check-in to see whose turn it is and to move your pieces. These activities will require screen hits, and as most players find out the more screen hits you have the more chances you have to get a random event. The very first time I played Armada, not only did I get to play a fun challenging game, but I found a piece of the petpet lab map. Not a bad bonus outside the normal perks of the games. Having done the tournaments for several months I have gotten a few faerie quests while playing. I always look forward to the start of a new month knowing my screen hits are going to go up and thus my random events will be going up.

3) The excitement of getting neomail at the start of each round – That’s right, if you keep winning, you’ll get happy messages from the Neopets team announcing the start of first, second, third and fourth rounds of the tournaments. It’s always fun to get mail, and while these messages are just form letters I like seeing that someone has contacted me. Best of all, the fifth message you get at the end of the month details the prizes you have been awarded. Come on, who doesn’t like getting the occasional piece of mail?

2) 30,000 neopoints – As with most Neopets games, neopoints are awarded for a well played game: two wins in a game earns you 2,500 neopoints, three wins in a game earns you 5,000 neopoints, and four wins in a game earns you a whopping 10,000 neopoints. There is nothing like logging into your account and seeing someone has deposited thousands of neopoints into your points on hand while you were away. Play all three multiplayer games and you’ve got the chance to wake-up and find yourself 30,000 neopoints richer. Multiplayer games don’t take much more time than going to the Tombola stand every day for a month, and the payout can be a lot better.

1) Another trophy to show on your user lookup – If you’re like me your lookup isn’t overflowing with trophies and awards. People will spend an incredible amount of time hitting Punchbag Bob over and over for a trophy, so why not add trophies for Armada, Geos, and Kacheekers too. Impress friends and guild members with some shiny trophies: two wins in a game gets you started with a nice bronze trophy, three wins in a game earns you the silver trophy, and four wins you receive the elite gold trophy. At the end of your first batch of tournaments you could have three new trophies. If you want three more trophies on your account, then multiplayer games are for you.

There they are, the top ten reasons to try the multiplayer games. So just pop over to the Tyrannian Plateau, click the Kacheekers spot and sign-up for next month's tournaments. You might just find another feature of Neopets that you’ll enjoy.
