Tapping into the Super Job Market by e102__gamma
--------
Note: This article will be covering Super Jobs specifically, and assumes that the reader already has some familiarity with the Faerieland Employment Agency. If not, you can check out some of the other articles in the Times about how the agency works and how to make the most out of it. Getting used to Basic Jobs is recommended before buying a Job Coupon and taking on a Super Job, since there are more steps involved with the latter. You’ve seen them, those jobs advertising payments of 30,000 Neopoints a piece or higher. Sounds tempting, right? The most they’re posting for Basic Jobs is 10,000 NP, and you have to hope the items are cheap on the Shop Wizard, and if they are, you have to apply against hundreds of other applicants vying for the same job. So Super Jobs sound like a steal! All you need is to find the right coloured job coupon, and massive profits are yours! And then you check the prices of said coupons. High-end job coupons cost more than 100,000 NP a piece, and even the low-end coupons are expensive. For this reason, most people ignore Super Jobs, thinking they’re not worth it. And that’s one reason why they’re worth it. Super Jobs have one crucial advantage over Basic Jobs: their payouts are fixed within a certain range depending on their colour, and regardless of the item they’re asking for. If you apply for a Silver Job, you get around 30,000 NP plus up to a 25% time bonus, and it doesn’t matter if it’s an expensive Bear or a worthless Healing Potion or Gross Food. Better yet, fewer people apply for Super Jobs, so unless you’re going for the rare Purple or Pink jobs, it’s easy to get those cheap items and then apply for the job to get a maximum bonus. Here are the posted payout ranges for each of the 11 job levels:

Remember, including the time bonus, the maximum payout of each Basic Job is 12,500 NP, and you’d have to be really lucky to get anywhere near that much profit. I’d say that on average, I can fetch about 4000 NP per job, so about 20,000 NP a day. Sometimes, if I get lucky, I can get 30,000 NP. So now let’s compare that to our Job Coupons. Obviously, Green and Blue are out of the question. You start to see some more profit with Red up to Gold, but only about as much as Basic Jobs at best. But once you get up to Purple and above, now we’re talking. As the table shows, you can make hundreds of thousands off a single job coupon. There’s just one catch: In order to reach as close to the 100,000 NP payout limit as possible, you need to take a Purple or a Pink job. You will almost never find them if you just casually browse the job postings, so you’ll have to wait for them. Find the time that new job postings come out, then remember to check back just before every 10 minutes afterwards. It’s also imperative that you haven’t done your maximum 5 jobs yet when camping out for these jobs. And remember to have your Job Coupon ready, because you’ll lose valuable time if you have to look through your Safety Deposit Box. If you see a Pink Job, go for it! There’s no time pressure because the payout is capped at 100,000 NP anyway, so it depends on how much you’re willing to pay for the delivery items. For Purple Jobs however, check the time you have to complete it and have the Shop Wizard ready. If you have over 50 minutes, losing 1000 NP in time bonus is no big deal, but if you have less time than that, buy the items first, then apply for the job. You want to get the most out of your coupon, so missing a job is better than taking a huge hit to your time bonus. Luckily, jobs below Purple are nowhere near as competitive, so once you completed the Purple Job, congratulations! You’ve covered most or all of the cost of the coupon, so now you can reap the profits with the lower-tier jobs. Just remember, only accept if the payout is in the higher range and the items are cheap, since you have a lot more time to check how much you’ll get out of the job. Finally, if you can see a good deal on Job Coupons at the Auction, all the more power to you. While competing for the highest bid may seem intimidating, I’ve gotten Purple Job Coupons for only a bit more than 100,000 NP with minimal competition, netting me tens of thousands of extra profit, so it’s worth checking the Auction Genie every so often. If you got the hang of Basic Jobs and would like some more money for your troubles, consider Super Jobs. Sure, they may have a high admission price, and I’d advise against purchasing Gold and below unless they are discounted on the Auction, but the best way to make money is to spend money. Purple Job Coupons and higher will pay off huge in the long run for the patient job seeker.
