The Last Of Your Neo Neuroses!

I logged into my main account one day and freaked out over the fact that the site theme had been changed. I panicked, checked my gallery (all was well), checked my shop (still chock full of items), and scanned my pets (all were present). Then I suddenly remembered that the night before, I'd been playing with the various site themes on my account. I must have forgotten to return my active site theme to the JumpStart theme! I breathed a sigh of relief, changed the theme back to JumpStart's colorful theme, and nursed my shattered nerves with a hot cup of coffee. That said, I wondered if I was the only one who neurotically kept her site theme the same way, no matter what! I have plenty of rare site themes from past events and plots, but I always use the JumpStart theme.

Leaves - Don't Just Leave Them!

Welcome to the Neopian month of Gathering! The warm summer days are drawing to a close, the lazy days spent during the months of Relaxing and Swimming are now just distant memories, and Neopians everywhere are gearing themselves up for all the festivities that take place during the month of Gathering. There is the Annual Chocolate Ball to look forward to, plus the Poogle Parade and the Faerie Festival, and let's not forget the Annual Gormball Championships! The month of Gathering truly is a busy month in the Neopian calendar, and perhaps so called because of all the celebrations that take place which require Neopians to gather together to celebrate. Gone is the month of Hiding. Now is the time to come outside and be sociable and gather one, gather all!

Your Horoscope For The Month of Gathering

In Neopia, much of our daily lives are unpredictable. So unpredictable, in fact, that we have a name for the phenomenon of unexplained and sudden occurrences in our lives--Random Events. If you prefer to have some guidance in your life, astrology is a great way to find it. If you’re a real serious planner, you might prefer to know what to expect for the entire month. For people like those, I listened to the stars to create these horoscopes for the Month of Gathering.

"A Mutant's Best Friend" by yoshisislandbandit
"Eek! A mutant, eew!” A faerie Usul shrieked, pointing at the Mutant Shoyru with an expression most foul. “So gross!” The Shoyru didn’t react, continuing to read his book as he sat on the bench in the center of Neopia Central. The sound of the Rainbow Fountain echoed in his ears constantly as pets walked by and stared, pointing and gagging at his appearance. He had half a mind to bark back at them that being a mutant wasn’t that bad, and that they should keep to themselves if it was good for them. He knew that would only make it worse, though. He knew that they would just freak out and be even more afraid of mutants, further proving his point that mutants were blatantly picked on because of their appearance. The faerie Usul timidly approached the Shoyru as he read his book, the Shoyru’s eyes slowly shifting over to her as she came into view. The Usul reached a paw up, poking at the Shoyru’s blemishes on his forehead and shivering. It was then that he had to draw the line. The Shoyru let out a warning growl, causing the Usul to back up a bit, before she continued poking the blemishes. Finally, the Shoyru stood up. “Would you stop that?!” He snapped, clenching his fist. “That’s not very funny to poke someone.” The Usul gasped. “It talks! The rumors were a lie!” The Shoyru was steaming now. What kind of rumors had been made up about mutants that they would be that ridiculous? Mutants that didn’t talk? Absurd. He narrowed his eyes and walked away with his book in hand, while the onlookers continued to stare at him. He was so tired of being made a spectacle of. Mutants were so outcast these days it had grown to a frustrating point. Pets pointing and poking and prodding at his proportions… he couldn’t stand it anymore. What was worse… when a pet was a mutant, everyone assumed that the mutant was friends with only other mutants. Pets assumed that they would only fit in with others just as hideous as them. He seethed with anger. He had to find some way to prove these pets wrong about mutants… something that would really knock their socks off. But… how

"Introspection of the Misunderstood" by mucka33
The sky shines bright blue today, clear enough that you can almost see to the heavens above. From down here, one can only imagine the vastness of space, of what lies beyond, out of reach from all but the most intrepid. There are those whose hearts yearn to explore the unknown, to discover planets anew and life unrecorded. To stare back at our modest home from the void, insignificant and yet full of passion and resolution. But, although we cry out with the emotions and griefs of millions, there is only silence to answer our calls. Honestly, I cannot think of anything more discouraging than the realization that, perhaps, we are collectively alone. A funny contradiction, that. Others, like myself, are more than content to live out our lives on our sprawling planet. There are plenty of mysteries to keep one occupied for their entire life, and at the end, never truly solve any of them. That’s the beauty of such a diverse world. You don’t have to travel far to find something undiscovered. I am one such enigma. I hear the whispers of vacant travelers as they try to solve the puzzle. I have seen their purpose-driven attitudes, feverish eyes, insatiable thirsts to seek and destroy. Infallibly, their tactics spiral into aggression. After all, there is nothing more dangerous than the unknown. It is a monster lurking with glistening fangs and hungering eyes, sharp claws and deadly spines. It is the shadows of our doubts, our own minds tricking us into believing there is danger when there exists nothing more than a gust of wind through the trees. It drives one mad. While some flee, others stay to fight, seeking to identify the unknown and destroy its state of existence. To assure their own selfish peace of mind at the expense of others. My refuge is Mystery Island. The jungles grow so lush that one can be lost for years and never truly explore its entirety. I rely on the island to protect me, and yet ironically, no one themselves is an island; we’re inexplicably bound to others, bound to meet others. I am no stranger to chance encounters. Such meetings are as inevitable as the seasons changing, the sun setting, the cosmos growing ever darker. Today is no exception.

"Quiggles Plus" by edawg202
"What do we do?” said the orange Grundo, "Sloth will soon be here with his evil ship of doom. "We must save our son," said her husband. So he sneaks him onto a freighter (which doesn't take passengers) off of Grundor. An hour after, Sloth arrives and Grundor is no more. When the freighter arrives, the captain finds the baby Grundo eating his turnips. He's furious. He takes the baby with him, to the market in Meridell, then on to the rubbish heap to dump the half eaten turnips and leaves the youngster there. While haphazardly crawling about the disgusting piles of junk, he comes across a blue Quiggle morphing potion. He drinks it, and turns into a Quiggle. The dump keeper finds him, and gives him Samrin to raise. Samrin takes good care of him, raises him as a shepherd, his only other friends being the petpets and the occasional visit from Baby Aibo. He spends much time in the fields, and it is here that he learns to...fly. The blue Quiggle, who shall be known simply as Ichiban, was becoming known throughout Meridell. Finally, when Ichiban was full grown, Skarl comes to him and says "Ichi, boy, its a great big world. Go out and see it." Skarl then shoves him across the border. After flying for a while, he is looking for a place to spend the night. He looks down, and sees a Blumaroo coming out of a coffin. "I'll keep going," he thinks. Around dawn, weary from flight, he crashes through a window in Neopia Central "Master Niban, there is a blue Quiggle sleeping on the floor. Shall I remove him?" "Wait a minute, Rooves, how'd he get in?" "Through the window." "But we're three stories up. Lets wake him and ask." The Neopian millionaire and his butler move Ichiban to a guest bedroom. He comes to in six hours. "So," Niban asks nonchalantly, "how'd you get here?"
