All You Need to Know About Korbats

Well, if you’re thinking about adopting a creature of the night, you might want to read this article first.

First let me introduce myself; I’m Kathryn, and I have always been interested in bats. I have read six novels on bats, three information books, along with a bunch of websites and such. Now, bats and Korbats aren’t much different, so I thought I’d be a great writer for this article.

Eating Habits

A Korbat, even though it does look like the so-called “vampire-bat” (or vampyrum spectrum), obviously doesn’t drink blood (of course not, this is a children's site!). Most Korbats would settle for just about anything: fruits from Mystery Island, exotic foods from the Lost Desert and Meridell, or even Soup from the Soup Kitchen.

So, if you’re thinking that you’re going to have to buy all these odd foods from different places in Neopia for your little Korbat, you are mistaken. Korbats are just like all the other neopets out there with their eating habits; just they really don’t like being woken up in the middle of the day to eat, so feed them later at night.

Play Time

Korbats are nocturnal like real bats, so, if you’re planning a big trip to Altador, plan at night time so your Korbat will be fully awake and active. Also, Korbats love to play with plushies and different toys while they’re awake. But try to get toys that their sharp little teeth won’t cut through.

Sleeping Habits

Like I have mentioned, Korbats are nocturnal- meaning they sleep during the day and wake up in the night. So, usually when your precious pet is awake, you’re asleep in bed. Korbats are usually fully awake from 7:30pm until 6:30am, and asleep from 6:30am until 7:30pm.

Now, you may ask “what will my Korbat do while everyone else is asleep?” Well, Korbats are very easily occupied, so leave out some toys and things for him/her to play with. Or you could stay awake for a while with your pet and take it out during the night. And if you have all Korbats, then you could always become nocturnal yourself! :D

Favorite Places

Korbats like dark places. So if you’re new to the world of Neopets, you may want to get a house in the Haunted Woods- then you wouldn’t have to worry about your Korbat's sleeping habits because it would be night time all the time.

But yes, Korbats enjoy dark places like; the Haunted Woods, Tyrannia, and Geraptiku. Korbats DON’T like places like the Lost Desert, Mystery Island, and Krawk Island.

How to Treat your Korbat

Treat your Korbat like you would treat any other neopet. Give it love, play games with it, go on tiki tours, or explore the lands. And like all neopets, you should feed it regularly, and don’t let it starve. You can put a Korbat in the Neolodge if you have to, to keep it from starving. But just because you have a nocturnal neopet doesn’t mean you should treat it any different than a normal neopet.

To really get inside a Korbat's head, I decided to interview MY Korbat, Xseous.

Me: So, Xseous, what would you say your biggest fear is?

Xseous: Probably to not be able to fly any more. If I wasn’t able to fly that would be the worst, it would be like a Gelert not being able to run.

Me: What’s one bad thing about being a Korbat?

Xseous: Well, unless you’re painted Maraquan, you can’t go under or even into the water.

Me: Why not?

Xseous: Mom, you know why.

Me: Well, I am asking for the article!

Xseous: *sigh* We can’t go into the water because our wings will drag us down and we would drown really easily.

Me: What’s one good thing about being a Korbat?

Xseous: I can fly, and hang upside down; oh, and I can sneak up on you when you’re in the living room and scare you to death!

Me; -_- I said one good thing.

Me: What’s your favorite food?

Xseous: Blood Ghost Toast.

Me: Why? (plus you just ruined my debate on saying Korbats don’t drink blood...)

Xseous: because, it tastes really good, of course!

Me: If you had to be a different neopet, what would you be and why?

Xseous: I’d be a Pteri, so I’d still be able to fly and everything.

Me: What color would you like to be painted?

Xseous: Unlike you (who want to paint me Baby), I want to be painted cloud, because I’d be part of the sky.

Me: Why are you so obsessed with the sky?

Xseous: Because the sky is my home!

Me: Xseous, we live in the Lost Desert, not Faerieland. And why wouldn’t you want to be painted baby? You’d be small and adorable!

Xseous: Those exact reasons.

Me: Describe what your normal day is like.

Xseous: I would get up around 8:00pm-ish, I would go eat my breakfast, fly around the desert, play some games, do our dailies, and head home. At home I’d play with my petpet, practice some fighting moves, play with my plushie, and eat dinner. After dinner I’d watch a movie, and when the sun came up I’d go into my room and go back to sleep.

Me: Do you like to read?

Xseous: I’m not the best reader, since I can’t see very well (no Korbats can!) and the words come out really fuzzy and such when I try to read, but yes, I do like reading even though it's challenging for Korbats.

Me: What games do you like to play?

Xseous: Hmm... Kookia, Korbats Lab, Kass Basher, Fashion Fever, Bouncy Supreme, and-

Me: wait! Did you say “Fashion Fever”?

Xseous: Yeah, why?

Me: ...Bahahahaha! I’m so telling your sister about this!

Xseous: -____-

Me: Last question; do you have anything to say to the reader?

Xseous: Yes, one thing; Korbats are the best neopet ever, hands down.
